Ok, so I know a few people have quit their guilds (not necessarily changed guilds) and/or cities. So, what does this do? Does it cut off a specialization like Nihilism? Or do you retain everything, and are just unable to use some feats?

Quitting a city causes you to lose access to any skills that require nexus power. For a Celestine, this is nearly all of Celestialism. I'm fairly sure Sacraments would be severely curtailed as well.
Basically, look at the AB help for your skills. If it says that it requires 5 "Pool" power (for Celest), then that skill won't be useable for those who aren't citizens (of Celest, in this case).

It stops you from using most skills that cost power. Usually, the power has to be of a certain type, like megolith or pool power. Unless someone supplys you the specific type of pwer, you wont be able to use it.
Also, some skills that dont require power are unusable. Totems, which doesnt require anything, becomes unusable when you quit.
Furthermore, if you dont join a different city, then you lose access to guild/city tutors. This can, and will limit your learning capabilities.
Unless you have somewhere else to go, or a _really_ good reason to leave, i would advise you stay

like joining crow?
Shamarah2004-11-08 21:04:13
If you quit only the guild though, but not the city, you get to keep your skills and still use them.
Unknown2004-11-08 21:04:14
Yup. It was a good rp reason, if nothing else

As the Crow have found out, and the Divine have confirmed on this board, it is not the power points or origins themselves that matter, but rather your spiritual connection to the nexus. When you quit, you lose the connection to the nexus that powers those specific skills. It doesn't matter if you were full of the proper power before, or if you drain from those who are still a member, all that power becomes just plain power if you aren't a member of the city/commune.

Well, thanks for the answers, but something I wanted to know specifically wasn't clearly answered.
That question is: Do you actually lose the skillset, or are you just severely limited in your abilities?

It doesnt let you use all your skills... says "You do not have the right kind of energy to do that" or somthing to that extent.

There are a few bugs with the system that prevent you from using even more skills. Certain skills that don't require power become unusable with the same message, such as most, if not all, of the Totems skills.
Too bad.

Gaetele, are you sure its a bug?
I forgot totems because of that....

This is how it works.
All Totems skills are disabled, if you had them in the first place.
All skills requiring a specific power source are disabled.
All skills requiring a generic power source (Such as Orange) continue to work.
All non-totem skills that require no power at all continue to work.
If I made any mistakes, please correct me.

Honestly, life as a Rogue isn't as bad as everyone theorises it is. If you're a true Rogue you'll be fine. If you want to join the Crows...
Think very hard on that.

The less you use power, the easier it is.
Unknown2004-11-09 04:39:10
Bah, that's hard when you can lose over 90% reserves in one hit.
Typhus2004-11-09 16:10:57
Heh.. And they say Knights are weak...

That would be a bug. I will look into it tonight.
The way it should work is any skill that requires power of a certain type will not work. Skills that work with any power source will still work if you have power, but you will be unable to gather power from a nexus and thus will need to find alternative sources.
Typhus2004-11-09 16:52:22
Such as the high plane eh? Heh.. I sympathize with you Guido. Get Visaeris to tak you up there one day.

Thank you, thank you, thank you...
That really needed to be fixed. I tried to bring it to raezon's attention, bugged, it etc. It just didnt make sense to have the specialization work, and the base give me a "does not have the right power" error, on things that did not require power.
The power feats were not a huge loss, and it doesnt restrict rp. Losing one set certainly puts a dent in my ability to function as well as I would like.
