Ok, I'll revoke my kitten statement - the more annoying part is the obligatory 'Awwww!! *hugsnugglelovepouncerompetc*' that follows the kitten comments. blink.gif

Something along the lines of a claw scratch perhaps? Then I can daydream about swiping at annoying people that snuggle me all the time...

Disclaimer: I am in fact a very nice person, but creepy snuggly people anywhere other than Achaea scare me a lot. Especially when I've only just met them.

*snuggles the Nika-kitty* Good kitty!
In my eyes it just depends on how you play your char. Cronus for example is just the cuddly bear, at least Niara thinks so, but there are other tae'daes who aren't any snuggly at all, same goes for Aslaran and others. You can still be nice and make a point that you don't want to be snuggled. Some people tend to hug and even lick Niara, which she only likes from her love but it is not a big deal to tell these people to stop it.
And please, don't lick someone just because you can do it. Just imagine yourself doing the emote. You should notice how ridicilous it looks.

Wow, its great to see people reply,

NOW then, after much thought, i came up with a few ideas. but they have mostly been sad it seems, sleeping in the sun brings back health and the such, i agree with that, pounce also.. the scratching.. i wish to add onto that, a skill reached at level 50:

Primal rage.

his skil would make us go into a insane frenzy off claw attacks on a enemy.. heck.. evena hurt even one in the room if the skill needs to be "dulled down"

But i still wish badly to see a Racial skill. any idea's on what Primal rage would do? Extra strengh for a few moments? speed? and idea's for more skills?
Unknown2004-11-09 15:17:10
make it boost speed and strength, take down dex and intelligence, after all, it is "Primal". Make it do moderate damage with severe blood loss.
Typhus2004-11-09 16:47:38
Heh.. I thought the Taurians were more of the primal type while the Aslarans were more of the shift and precise type. Oh, and give them the chance to bristle, everyone loves bristle.
Auseklis2004-11-09 16:49:06
Typhus is dead on here. Aslarans tend to be precision fighters.
Gwylifar2004-11-09 17:17:30
Another direction one might turn while looking for aslaran powers is the story of Shanth. A review of Shanth's ways might encourage people to look away from the "cuddly kitten" or even the "primal tiger" and see another side of the aslaran, just as much in keeping with aslaran felinity, but perhaps a little more interesting. Don't forget, it's not for nothing that the aslaran description starts "He is a regal aslaran and..." (emphasis mine); the whole joy of the aslaran is the combination of regal dignity, playful kittenishness, and primal ferocity, not as three separate things but as one thing at different times.
Unknown2004-11-09 18:13:48
I think it would be fun to rp that Aslarans are the regal, upper class, snooty cat-being (indeed, all cat's are snobbish and arrogant. ake my girl friend's cat who'll bait you into petting her only tp rip your hand off) only to have that rough, primal instinct inside. sure, they act regal, but their innerly viscious combatants. That's my perception of Aslarans.

On an aside.. I wish people would stop associating me with 'fuzzy wuzzy cutie wutie snuggle me!' Rajamalas from Achaea. I am not a kitten. It's a tad annoying when one is trying to be angry, and someone hugs you and then pats you on the head, with a 'nice kitty'.

Isn't that about the point where you would use your racial cat-like temperment and give them a good shredding?

I mean really. What happens when you tick off a cat in real life? You usually get scratched, bitten, and rabbit-punched (rabbit-punch being when the cat is on it's back and uses it's hind legs and claws to beat the heck out of you). And thats due to the teeniest amount of cat-harassment.

Ooops! Guess I should read the next page over before responding! blush.gif

Yeah, having Taurians the ability to Rage (+2 strength, but increase possibility of attacking any non-Taurians) gives me the impression of a stampede. Though felines can also be feral, they may be more regal and precise on their action because they may have to depend on their stealth and speed rather than brute force. So, maybe Aslaran's "Primal Rage" could raise their speed/dex, when attacking without much control for a moments worth.

Hm... speaking of stampedes. It would be great if Taurians had a Stampede attack at level 60 when in groups. Just imagine a group of 5 Taurians charging against a helpless victim that stands in their way biggrin.gif

Will that proves it, this forum is damn helpful, great idea's pumped right into this little idea i came up with, thanks everyone for the help, now to just get someone to take my idea and perhaps do something with it.. *Hint hint* *Beg*

"Pausing for a few moments, you thrust your mind back to your inner animal feelings causing your mind to race into a primal rage"

heh.

" bows his/her head for a moment, his/her chest begins to thrust in and out madly, with a sudden ear piering roar swings out at you madly in a insane rage"

tongue.gif

Enjoy.
Auseklis2004-11-10 15:23:31
Aslarans wouldn't get rage for two reasons, firstly that the taurians have something very similar, and secondly because it doesn't really suit their racial personality.
Unknown2004-11-10 16:46:17
True i guess.

then perhaps a pounce attack?

a roar? they are lion/tiger

Stalk, like a tiger, people can not see your movements in and out of a room.

scent, sniff out people, perhaps like: Sniff

result: you think they left to the north

if they are too far away, more then, lets say, 5 moves.

result: there scent is too weak here

a gaze that locks the person up for a moment, all scary eyes and such.

Perhaps, feline pin? they hold a person down using there weight to pin them.

awareness, they can sense movement around them, perhaps in a 2 room around themselfs... "Your pick up a sound to the southwest" that could be for when someone is 2 rooms away perhaps.

"You pick up the scent off to the southwest" if there one room away.

i like the awareness one alot.

Welp, theres a few ideas i thought up.

Go da kitty ninja! ninja.gif

I think Aslarans should get much more balance perks. For example, we have a knight, right? They get to swing two one handed weapons, then unleash a lower body attack ( a kick of some sort) before regaining balance, due to their feline grace.
Nika2004-11-11 05:13:35
I have seen a few snooty Aslarans, and I've been trying to introduce a bit of that myself.

I like the idea of the stalk (somewhat like stealth) defence and scratch attack. It'd make me feel a bit like a newbie Druid again. happy.gif
Shoshana2004-11-11 10:39:54
I'm a snobby Aslaran! biggrin.gif

I think we should get an ability to not take damage from falling, being cats and all. Perhaps it should take a few seconds to get your balance back when you land, though. Perhaps also an ability to climb and leap over barriers?

If all else fails, we should at least have the ability to clean ourselves to get rid of stenches, without needing water or the elementalism spell laugh.gif
Unknown2004-11-11 11:47:53
Heh, i agree, cleaning ourselfs without water is a most have, and falling from a tree, we should land on our feet, maybe we still get hurt a bit, but it does not break anything.

Break your legs rather than your head when you fall from a height. Yeah, that'd be a nice flavor element. And good for when you teleport to flyers.

Felines are not snuggly creatures. Some domestic cats are, but they're traitors to their lineage and are probably overweight and stuff too.

You want snuggly, go look at a furrikin. At least they kind of deserve it, I mean, they're walking plush toys, look at 'em. But aslarans are not cuddly. Imagine your typical arrogant, self-assured, perfectly poised cat. They may -permit- you to touch them, but doing so against their will would be blasphemous.

When I think of aslarans, I think of the prowess that goes along with cats, tigers, leopards, panthers, and lions (well, lionesses). You wouldn't cuddle these creatures. They also wouldn't go mad in a fury and 'rage' at everyone in the room. Slash your eyes maybe, or shred some tissues over your bed or a stray antelope on the plains, but not mindless fury.

Um... perhaps if they get any racial advantage or skill, it could be extendable claws, as that's certainly something all the feline species have in common. Maybe this could grant them all extra bleeding damage on attacks? Or perhaps, as like two thirds of the guilds only use magic attacks, they could just get a 'claw' attack at level 50 that deals significant bleeding damage. Or the ability to 'pounce' someone to the ground, and maul them a little... hmm. It's hard to think of something that would be appropriate for every guild, that isn't just a rip-off of an Athletics ability.

Also, if the Aslaran race is going to get such an ability, are other races? Like, say, mugwumps? Because i'm telling you, the ability to leapfrog over walls or people blocking would be totally cool.
