smile.gif Hello, I was just reading over the help scrolls on the races, it seems that my race , the Aslaran, don't have a racial skill like almost every other race, such as flight, breathing fire, healing in the sun or water, regaining mana, etc etc..

in fact my race as one could see, have burning quicker in fire, gaining experience much much slower, waking up is harder, and healing from a vials is less and much tougher, but i do understand we can regain balance faster then some.

You see, i have been out of the portal of fates for sometime now and i seem to keep getting the feeling i have forgotten a racial skill i once had, i can not seem to remember what it was, perhaps some biting or clawing? even climbing trees easier.. but i am unsure, even pinning others down from a pounce, But yes, that is my issue, i hope it helps and can invoke some thoughts on this Race.

Thank you.

Actually, quite a few races don't have skills. Dwarves, Humans, and Elfen, just to name a few. Also, the level 2 faster balance that Aslarans have is a very good advantage, which makes them excellent warriors, in my opinion.

The Aslaran disadvantages are all fairly milk, especially compared to some other races. A skill that improves tree climbing or something of that nature would be cool, however.

Perhaps a better sort of clinging in trees (which stacks with normal clinging)... Although that would make them more panther like and somehow I'd invisioned most of them as lion-types. Possibly because of a slight confusion with Narnia.

Do lions climb trees? I thought they just sat around getting fat and making sexy lionesses get pregnant.

Um. That was my point, that lions aren't known for being in trees, but panthers (and some other giant cats) are. I won't comment on that last bit.

I know, I was commenting on Angella's idea for climbing trees easier. And yes, do ignore the second bit. I was ingesting more sugar than normal at that point, I'm afraid.

A racial skill would be nice. The one thing I would like taken away would be our exp disadvantage. I mean, it took an extra long salve/herb balance in Achaea to 'balance out' the Rajamala so that we could have it taken away, but I really don't think it's that necessary. As we have the elixir sip and fire disadvantages, I don't think I'd be running around levelling that much anyhow. Especially with the smaller con that we have on top of the elixir disadvantage.

On an aside, I think we are meant to be lion types, Neale. On the website we're described as ranging from tawny to a deeper brown or something along those lines.

Lions have the ability to climb trees, much like all big cats. But they hardly ever do. Saw it in an old ghost buster's episode.

If theres any race that could lose a disatvantage or two its the tae'dae... lvl 3 all around is just nutso!
Unknown2004-11-08 02:35:31
Except it takes them about 12 seconds to get balance back.
Unknown2004-11-08 02:50:26
Not quite that long, but still. We get excellent defenses, constitution, healing, and power... in turn, we're slow as hell. I think it's a decent enough trade.

The level 3 slower exp, however, is insane. People think I overreacted to all those times I've been killed over the past week? That's just because i'm a Tae'dae; play one for an hour and find out for yourself biggrin.gif

You know you've got a slow race when:

You can simultaneously hunt (without feeling threatened), have conversations on CT, read and reply to these forums, and complain about how slow your balance is on MSN, at the same time.

Heheh. Fun times. tongue.gif

Being able to pounce and pin.. I would be doing that all the time.. just for the fun of it... and it can be used in battle!!!
kinda like the old Tackle emote used to be.. which actually tackled somone and knocked them prone...

Like.. pounce... and pin...
to get out of pin
Writhe.... or tickle kitty
Simple as 1 2 3
Desdemona2004-11-08 04:20:00
Being much faster than everyone else is a great advantage, as for the racial disadvantages they probably were made to try slow down hyper kitties smile.gif And they make justice on how sleepy kitties are wink.gif Maybe if Aslarans were able to... deal damage when poucing level 50 would be cute laugh.gif
Nika2004-11-08 07:41:12
On an aside.. I wish people would stop associating me with 'fuzzy wuzzy cutie wutie snuggle me!' Rajamalas from Achaea. I am not a kitten. It's a tad annoying when one is trying to be angry, and someone hugs you and then pats you on the head, with a 'nice kitty'.
Desdemona2004-11-08 08:32:37
Well, being a feline race and considered like a kitty just go together smile.gif Heh, being a female Taurian, I was asked if I had udders, and some call me a bovine ... so some people link me to a cow, simply because I posses a bullhead blush.gif But, this happens with every race, Tae'dae can be related to bears... I am sure that having them deal damage with Bearhug was no coincidience! biggrin.gif

Besides... if aslaran's were able to deal a bit of damage when pouncing, or at least knocking down, people would see that you are a serious kitty wink.gif
Unknown2004-11-08 13:57:05
Being called a 'nice kitty' isn't so bad compared to 90% of Magnagora thinking Tae'dae to be dumb as rocks and referring to you as 'bear' wink.gif
Unknown2004-11-08 14:29:22
I'm a drunken dwarf. what would I know.
Unknown2004-11-08 16:37:29
Omg, us tae'dae have a level 3 slower exp? I never noticed that before...damn.
Typhus2004-11-08 18:44:39
Aslaran's could have the racial ability of Fast Movement, such as sprinting or perhaps Roaring at a target to cause them to panic. Perhaps even regenerating something while in the sun, or falling asleep easier while warm.
