I had an idea. Since each city has one race to which is specializes, why not have a jack of all trades race? For example, the lucidians are perfect examples.

Sapphire Lucidians: come around by learning the sacraments or aquamancy specializations. Gain a: Level 3 resistance to cold damage

Onyx Lucidians: Come from gaining the necromancy or nihlism specialties. Gain: Regen health while in darkness (underground), level 2.

Emerald Lucidians: Coem from gaining the wiccan or druidy specialization. Gain a: Regen health while On the ethereal plane, level 2

Now, from what ive heard of with aeromancy and pyromancy with gaudich and hallifax comming into view.

Diamond Lucidian: come from gaining the aeromancy specialization Gain a : Level 3 resistance to cutting damage.

Ruby Lucidian: Coem from gaining the pyromancy specialization. Gains a : Level 3 resistance to fire damage.

Of cours,e there could be stat changes. But that's my rough idea. I mean, we have a race for each city, why not have a multi race too? and i think we should have an insect race as well.

Hmm, I like that. Different minerals depending on the specialty... and maybe bonecrusher/blademaster ones could be Granite, with a boosted strength/constitution? Still not enough to make them good warriors, compared to how they are now, but just a small boost for those who indeed want to do that.

I may be wrong, but as the Lucidians are the dominant race of Hallifax, I suspect that they may get a few branches when that city emerges out of frozen time again, based on whatever guild skills are available there.

WAIT, YOU ARE SO WRONG!

The Trill dominated Hallifax.

Thank you.
Neale2004-11-08 07:47:39
Some of that doesn't make sense, since the Lucidians did almost all live in Hallifax, and they really disliked Guadiguch, so they wouldn't get a bonus there. Like someone above said, they'll probably be like most other races and get a bonus in their home city guilds (when it comes back).
Unknown2004-11-08 14:35:36
but that doesnt mean it's the opinion of all Lucidians. I honestly think elves should get a bonus in magnagora too. There ARE dark elves afterall. their called drows. I think there should be on light and dark aspect to each race that has the ability for stat advantages.
As for the bonecrusher and blademaster abilities.

Bonecrusher: A Topaz Lucidian: Gain +4 strength and +2 constitution with a -3 intelligence and a -2 dexterity.

Blademaster: An Amethyst Lucidian: Gain +3 strength and +3 dexterity with -4 intelligence and -2 constitution

Dark Elves are from another realm and elves aren't getting anything in Magnagora.
Unknown2004-11-08 14:57:51
oooo, yes sir, excuse me while i pick my head off from the ground.
Nementh2004-11-08 15:22:39
Just because one fantasy setting has dark elves does not mean ALL have them. The Forgotten Realms is actually the only setting that really has em. (I know I know, many settings have ripped them off since, but they don' count.)
Unknown2004-11-08 15:42:05
I jus tthink if we should have one extreme, we should have a polar opposite. to balance it out nicely. not all merians are going to be good, and not all viscanti's are going to be in magnagora.
Unknown2004-11-08 16:34:59
I thought it was Gaudiguch that had the largest population of Lucidian.
Unknown2004-11-08 16:36:12
Gaudiguch was the Dracnari city.........no lucidian there.
Unknown2004-11-08 18:44:51
Magine if a lucidian and viscanti mated....you'd get a gargoyle.....
Unknown2004-11-08 19:11:47
Technically, going by the history, you'd just end up with another viscanti. En'oonki Lars was one of the first ever, after all.
Unknown2004-11-08 22:22:13
I was bein a smartass
Unknown2004-11-08 22:43:01
As was I! Let us declare it a draw.

Actually, Greyhawk had Drow before Forgotten Realms was made in 2e. *inno*

Yes, a Viscanti can be in a city besides Magnagora, a Merian can be outside of Celest, and an Elfen can exist outside the Serenwilde. However, if you are willing to try to RP something unlikely like that, then you must be willing to accept that there will be disadvantages. Like a fish out of water, literally in the Merians' case...
Daganev2004-11-09 11:07:25
actually the celts or whomever had drow long before any game system existed.

Fantasy comes from RL religions and myths. twist that one around your noggin.
Rilandria2004-11-09 14:03:40
I don't like the idea. Being Ludician myself, I'd hate to see mostly Sapphire Lucidians in Celest.

I like being able to choose my color. The color of the Lucidian shouldn't denote their 'abilities' anyway. You don't see 'sea-green Merian' and 'aqua-blue Merian'...

I picked blue and white for my color so it wouldn't really affect me to be a Sapphire Lucidian, but I am sure there are others who would really dislike having a 'forced' appearance.
