While exceptions to races may exist, they shouldnt be the norm. For Example (OOC): Einstine. He apparently had a larger brain than the normal person. Thus, he would have a higher intelegance in game.
According to the latest GoogleLabs ad campaign, Einstein actually had a below average mass for the human brain.
Anyone else taken the GLAT?

Ok, that was just based of something I heard. However, few would deny that he was much smarter than the average man.
Can I have that?

he failed math class and wasn't able to talk till he was 3.
I think he became famous because his sister named his dog Acme and he wa s a hackzor so he spelled it @cme, and someone thought it was a typo so they did 2cme, and that makes no sense so they looked at it in the mirror and saw emc2 and assumed he was a genious. *nod me*

Fine. Bad Example. How about Divinci? There were lots of smart people in his time period, but none got close to making the progress he did.

I"m joining this discussion a little late, but I think Racism is very good and reasonable RP. My charecter is racist against orcs. Its a common part of any society that people will find a reason to hate somone who is diffrent. It sparks for other RP to unravel as you are forced to confront the kinds of people your hateful towards.

I was racist against Orcs in Imperian and now here, I am just really racist against Merian/Elfen and also other Viscanti houses.....I just feel that the Palewynd hold is superior but purely from an IC respective.

Sorry its a while since I have been able to post...My point wasnt that everyone should play smart Tae'Dae but they invariably MUST exist. Just as a strong human exists, or an ugly elf. But I raised the point to say that racism isnt interesting if it isnt in conflict.
If (for example and this is NOT my view) certain ethnic groups were how many white supremacist believed they were i.e. Less Intelligent, Less Trustworthy and Generally Inferior. Then stating they are stupid is NOT racism. Because racism is defined as the belief that your race makes you better than someone you aren't when it plays no role. If however its not a belief its a fact. there is nothing for anyone to get upset about, there is no conflict. It stagnates.
And comparing a race that must deal with the politics of a real world setting and interaction with other sentient being to Ants, it quite possibly the most absurd argument. Ants dont have to watch what they say to make sure they dont have 300 angry Visacanti trying to tear their throat out.
To say every Tae'Dae must in essence be stupid is not correct, just as much as saying that every person who is stupid must be a Tae'Dae. Intelligence if merely your capacity to learn, it doesnt mean you can't try a hell of a lot harder than the average person to prove the others wrong, it just means it takes you longer and requires more effort.
And yes a human who trains themselves to be better than the rest is special...thats why they win medals at the olympics, or nobel prizes for their contributions to the world.
Just as every human is not normal intelligence, strenght, charisma...why should every Tae'Dae be?
EDIT: And as for Einstein there is a lot to be said for the argument that his wife actually greatly influenced the forming of the special theory of relativity. Einstein himself often tried to prove things he never could, resorting to such wonderful statements as "God doesn't play dice with the Universe" when his thought experiment to disprove quantum entanglement couldn't possibly exist actually proved the opposite, and "If the facts don't fit the theory, get new facts"

I'd say we should stop comparing Lusternia to the real world. In our world, it's not right to say a race of people are superior, or inferior to another, because there's really not much difference between us. But in Lusternia, there's a frickin' huge difference between the races. And most Tae'dae, if not all of them are more slow-witted than most humans. It's just like saying Igasho are taller than humans, or Faelings being better at flying than Viscanti.
There are real differences between races in Lusternia. In our world, the differences are only imagined.

well in that case accept it as that, but you can't have racism. It's just a statement of fact.
And as an aside, most people don't complain with someone of an intelligent race, downplaying their intelligence, like a merian that acted stupid. They just seem to care when people act the other way.

Well, there used to be the idea that Einstein's wife influenced the forming of his theory from something he said that he couldn't have done it without her, but on actually enquiring further it's become more generally accepted that he meant "I couldn't have done it without her support as a loving wife," or what have you.

And all that further investigation was done by men ...Suspicious I think so.
Shiri2004-11-17 17:03:56
Uh, no, not really. This is about the genius of one man, not some obscure feminist power act.

Fine spoil my fun *pout*.
The point is that Einstein often used brute force rather than intelligence to prove (or fail to prove) he was right. Inspirational and a major influence on people - Yes...A Genuis - Debatable, he was certainly clever but not necessarily more so than anyone else, just a lot more bloodyminded.
But anyway thats not what this argument started about, so I will drop the Einstein thing.
