Ok, while I agree big purchasers of credits are people who want nothing but combat, with +stats and amazing weapons. I think impulse buying is something that needs to be taken into consideration.
Ideas I thought of would be.
A lyre, play it for a creature, and it will follow you to the ends of the earth. It wouldn't be loyal, couldn't attack for you. (no combat purpose what so ever, just the fun of having a creature, and roleplaying a little). Have a platapus as the life of your party. Or bring home a stray dog to your mum.
Uniforms: Chef/Constable/Priest, adjust your description, for when you enter and leave a room, and give you some special emotes, or fun abilities. BRAND BADDIE. Badguy Stetson stands here. Of course snub would stop you from being hassled by these childish players, heh.
A musical pipe: For all you hardcore -extreme- ratters out there, increase the rate your rats appear! When you play it in a room, rats will appear faster, and of a larger type.
Also, something for cities would be neat. To increase production, lengthen the time the village will stay with you. These could vary depending on the city. eg.
Benign - A pillar of freedom
Despotic - A gallows.
A mule to increase production, costs food, increases some other production.
A fountain/patch of ivy/smoldering crater - generates water/forest/taint environment for X radius.
These artifacts would be lost, or redeemed with a loss, if the village is lost. Putting much more emphasis on strategic placement, and influencing.

Great idea. I like it.

Cloak of the Darkstep: 2000cr
Cost:10 Power
This item is highly coveted by assassins around the world. Noted for its scarcity and utility it comes with a sever price to the bearer. To wear this henious item causes the Avenger himself to lose regard for your wellbeing. The reason this cloak is so coveted despite its risks is that it allows its wearer the ability to perform an assassination in total secrecy once per month. The person wearing it cannot be identified, and merely appears to be a 'Shadow emenating malevolence'. When the victim is slain the identity of the slayer is not revealed, but rather appears on the bully list as 'shadowXXXXXX'.
-Target SHADOW is used to attack someone who has activated the dark secret of this cloak.
Horn of the Reckoning: 600 credits
Cost:10 Power
This artifact can be used once every 12 Lusternian days. While as a soul, and only a soul, and in the same room they were slain, they may blow the Horn of the Reckoning bringing a chance of death's reckoning upon all those present.
(I think it might be overpowered, but im thinking something like Vengance from Achaea)
I really like the concept of Artifact commodities for use in armor and weapons, etc. Perhaps placing a 3-4 cr per price on each commodity would be fair.
Training Manuals: 150 cr
These one time use artifacts, covering the full range of skillsets, grant the bearer inhuman ability in the chosen skill. Success of skillchecks increases beyond the trans level, and perhaps allow a random chance for a 'secret' technique to be gained in a specific skill.
For instance an Tome of Illusions would give the reader a 33% chance of gaining one of the following skills:
Projection: 5 Power
Allows an ephemereal projection of the practitioner to be produced, moving freely through most normal objects (Doors, Icewalls, etc). The projection will carry the same state of visibility as the caster at the moment it was cast. The projection can speak and perform emotes, but cannot perform any skills. While projecting, the casters body enters a state of vulnerability and unconciousness. WITHDRAW PROJECTION ends the illusion and restores the casters self awareness.
(Insert skill here)
(Insert skill here)
You'd have to put a cap of one Tome per skillset and perhaps 3 Tomes total *shrug*
I think you get my drift. It probably cant be coded, but eh, it would be a great idea if it could.

Given that every guardian achetype gets the ability to aeon.....Along with a buckawn amulet for avoiding webs, There should be an Anti-aeon artifact.
AMULET OF THE CONTINUEUM
COST: 600CR
This amulet grants the wearer profound ability and knowledge of the time-space continueum. And therefore as such cannot be cursed with Aeon. For an added 300 CR The amulet will grant the bearer the ability to curse others with Aeon, including those who wear this bracelet.

Aeon artifacts have been shown to be severly unbalancing in the past.
Unknown2004-12-02 09:55:28
And the things you suggested prior weren't unbalanced? Right... both the anti-aeon thing is unbalanced, as well as the Cloak of Shadows nonsense.
Murphy2004-12-02 10:24:31
Ok perhaps just lets you avoid like buckawn boots and can't curse it.
You're just upset tuek cause you love you stupid aeon cat *duck*

*stroke Patchou* I love her for more then just her ability to kill people!
Murphy2004-12-02 10:35:05
Ok tuek, we'll make it so that the artifact stops all kinds of aeon except Patchou's.......just so you can indulge in the feline love.....I bags the moneyshot.
Unknown2004-12-02 10:53:10
Well.... if you want to be technical... the Moondancer waning isn't technically aeon....
Edit: Though I am against buckawn's boots, and any similar artifacts that stop attacks. They are just annoying. Just give me a permanent prismatic barrier already (That stops all attacks), that doesn't go down even if I attack, for a cost of like 10k credits.

I think they are justified at a price...do you know how annoying it is to be permenantly aeoned entangled webbed whatever, it is the bane of my existance. I'm getting better with it but when silvanus enlarges you just before web hangedman aeon anoexic it makes one want to cry

Tattoo of Vestera's Eye
50 cr?
With this, SECRETS works 100% of the time, as well as slows the amount of time to use it by 25%.
Because I HATE having to use SECRETS 4-5 times in a row sometimes to see a room I KNOW is there.

In fact, Bricriu, I'd like an artifact that'd let you see secret rooms just by walking into them. Wouldn't be too much of a stretch, aye?
Also, an artifact that let you HEAR on other planes, as well as speak?
And maybe not buckawn boots, but an artifact that would prevent things like...bramble walls from working on you, perhaps by masking your entry to non-permanent defences such as totems and statues?

1000 credits - Planar pocket
Lets you set up a small, simple room wherever you like. Has to be where there's no IN exit, and collapses and resets to you if you don't sign in for two months. Can PUT items in it when holding it, and these appear on the ground when its set up to full size. If a person is in it when it collapses, they get dropped to the room it was in with a three second stun. Wouldn't be able to hold a statue, painting, anything like that, and would reject any attempts to make it into a demesne. Could have a simple door, lockable/unlockable from the inside only, by saying a certain word.

That would be awesome.
Here's an idea:
100 credits - WHISTLE OF LOYALTY
Using the powerful magics imbued inside this whistle, you may bring to life any dead mount/pet, providing you have their corpse.

There's the collar, already. And if they're dead, because they've been killed, huge chance is you won't have their corpse.
How ever, what would be fun...
Whistle of undying loyalty - bring a mount back as an undead?

An artifact that extends the rift. Must be horrible filling it up and needing to buy pocketbelts for your hundreds, upon hundreds of comms, and thousands upon thousands of herbs... or so I have heard.
I like the name planar pocket for it =) If the room thing doesn't go in, its a cool name. It's ok if you don't want me to steal it though, heh.

I'm pretty sure it's impossible to fill up the rift in the first place.
EDIT: I could be wrong. I've never had more than 2-300 of any given herb, so I wouldn't know. I just assumed it couldn't be filled, since I'd heard of people storing 1500 or so herbs in it.
EDIT 2: Turns out I am wrong. Meh.
Shiri2004-12-05 15:08:04
It certainly is in Achaea. You can only store 2000 of any one thing. *was teh ginseng king for eons*
Unknown2004-12-05 16:33:05
I have to use pocketbelts because my rift is stuffed with herbs. When you see my herbs ad with my current stock, that's why most of them are around 2000 or so. I stop there so I don't have to buy more pocketbelts! Darned spices, too. Rare, my buttocks!
