I am slightly new to MUDs and I just joined Lusternia as a Human ur'Guard. I did the whatnow command and it says to join a guild then go to the caverns. Is there a map somewhere that will tell me how to get to these places? I keep going in circles since most of the land has the same description.

PORTALS, then READ SIGN.

While you're under level eleven, the Portals is basically your base-safe-room. Get lost, go there. Want to get somewhere, go there. When you get above level eleven, your portals will only get 20 chances to visit portals. When you get to level twentyone, they vanish completely.

You can also ask things like this in game on the newbie channel. NEWBIE <>. Or if there's a Guide on, ask them. They're the ones on QW in yellow. (Provided you have ANSI on)

MUDs are just plain confusing at first. Really it takes a fair amount of time for where things are to sink in.

My suggestion is to look at this picture and visualize roughly where things are, then as you move around you'll start to build up a rough mental map.

And whatever you do explore as much as you can while you have portals. No mater how much you explore now you'll only wish it was more later.

The MSN group Has a variety of maps that people worked hard making so people like us can use them.

The worst thing about a MUD or MMOG is the constant action scrolling across your screen becomes difficult to keep track of. Dont worry about this. Eventually, you will learn to ignore most of this. The important people in your character's life will have special ways of contacting you specifically.
