New Archetype

I think Mary's Idea is more likely to happen, when 'dark-wiccans' are created (they are gunna be created eventually, right? Please, divines?)

Aaany way - Donnar, I personally like your idea, but the power cost better be low, cause it would suck having to go kill some random mob to get a ent every time I go on realm. If it takes 20 minutes to get the corpse, I'm not gunna want to pay 10 power also.
Unknown2004-11-19 11:41:06
i think it should be low. I'm suggesting 1 or 2 power per spirit.

Assuming a Glomdoring council comes, and assuming it remains tainted, it will still in all probability, keep with the general lines and archetypes, having a Wiccan, a Druid, and a Warrior archetype. The Wiccans will have Nature (Wicca), Totems (Night), and some other secondary ability. Druids will be Nature (Druidry), Totems (Crow) and again, a third skill, possibly runes as well. The wicca will be mostly the same. A few of the fae in my version of wicca are only there if you have the specialization of Moon, so the Glomdoring Wiccans will have a few fae that only come with a specialization in Night, but still have the base ones. I.E. The Mother, Crone, and Maiden only come with the Moon specialization, so the ones in the Glomdoring wouldn't have those three, but like someone else suggested, they might have a Redcap and some other assorted darker fae. This is assuming the divinities keep with their base concepts and stick with the whole archetype patterns.
Shiri2004-11-19 16:58:19
I sure hope they stick with the Archetypes, it's one of the more interesting parts of the game. And yeah, the mother, maiden and crone sort of lend to Wicca being the same with minor exceptions. It would be nice if they made druidry different though. I sort of saw Wiccans as the forestal guardians (entities and so forth), and druids as the forestal mages (demesnes.) So it'd be nice if they differentiated between Druidry and, say, Dark Druidry (only with a less lame name) and Stag and Crow in the same way as they differentiated between aquamancy and geomancy. Just my preference though.

i think they should have a monk archetype for each city, for unarmed combat. possible styles are ninjitsu, tae kwon do, karate, etc, but they get a magical skill related to their guardian clas sof the city. a maganoran monk may have nihilism an necromancy, etc, etc, etc.
Shiri2004-11-19 19:12:38
Well, all those are real, so maybe not. (granted, they did Taekyon in Imperian, and I do that, so eh) I think it might be a little too close to knights, though. A lot of their potential skills are already in things like discipline anyway...
Unknown2004-11-19 19:21:52
well, yeah, but unarmed combat. and i listed varioes martial arts forms for some ideas. i think of monks mainly as religeous leaders who do not take arms, but instead, use magic and their bodies as weapons on their crusade.
Merloch2004-11-19 19:23:09
I think if the Glomdoring Council comes, and is Tainted, and does gain Three Guilds, and one of them is a Wicca Archetype

It should not, under any circumstance, have Fae.

For one reason. History says so.

"The fae are resistant to Kethuru's Power" (loosely based quote, the wording might not be the same) Which therefore means they cannot be Tainted.

The fae that -did- exist in Gloriana, ran to Serenwilde and or Ackleberry, when Rowena began to torture them.
"Fai Glom!" 'D'or Glom' (Have Mercy! , and I have no mercy' respectfully)

Therefore, there arises the need to create a darker, malevolent series of beings, but they cannnot be fae, but should be related to the Ethereal Realm.

This will then pivot Faethorn Court Immensely, and perhaps Faethorn will become more like Celestia and Nil.

I don't see a dark Faethorn, though, nor do I suspect one will be coming.
Unknown2004-11-19 19:30:57
i'm going to try to post up my 15 or so entities i made up for my aetolia guild called the phantoms ( unoriginal name, i know) that guild had three skills. Haunts (similar to groves), spectralisys (etheral form of corpus) and animation (similar to sanguis, with a cross of wicca) ill try to post em tonight or tomorrow.
Unknown2004-11-19 20:49:21
Merloch, the glomdoring part of the ethereal is tainted.... Kinda dark, I guess.
However, Merloch, the Fae can be tainted. Didn't the Little Girl experiance show that to everyone?
Faethan2004-11-19 21:34:43
I think that there is some difference between what happened to the little girl and being tainted, her soul got fed to a demon. In any case, the fae were apparently protected from the Taint by Ellindel, so unless there was some sort of even to explain how, having tainted fae would be a bit of a conflict with the histories.
Daganev2004-11-19 22:50:41
almost compeltely off topic... we need a archtype with campy abilities like a firepit and chair crafting so we have a place to sit when we burn down the cities of our enemies.
Unknown2004-11-19 23:41:20
I would wish for the Glomdoring to be restored, as Gloriana. It wasn't always tainted, and when it wasn't, it was still a much darker commune, just no taint. I think that is the preferred outcome, a dark but untainted commune. In which case it would still have fae. The Night coven was the sister coven of the Moondancers (The Moon coven).
Unknown2004-11-20 02:50:36
celest, eh daganev? hehehehe. If they came out with hallifax, gaudich, and glomodoring tomorrow, i'd go to glom hands down. I'm a very dark, nature oriented person, that's would be a haven for me.
Daganev2004-11-20 11:39:49
I purposefully did not say celest because I think all cities/communes can and will now or in the future have some city they want to destroy.

I did say cities not city.
Unknown2004-11-20 12:20:07
i know. i just put it in, becaus ei know what people were going to assume. Celest should be stronger than what it is.............really, it should.

I've heard multiple people say this. If you want to join Glomdoring, becuase its awsome (and you know it is awsome tongue.gif ), why not join it now? TO paraphrase one of the divines, I forget which, the more interest shown in glomdoring, the sooner it will come.
Having a lot of members would be one way of showing interest.
Unknown2004-11-21 15:47:20
here's the spirits i was suggesting. they may sound corny or god-like, but hey, it's easier to take a boulder and whittle it down to perfection than to take a pebble and make it into a monument.

I don't recall a Divine saying that. Infact, I recall a mortal saying that.

Ethereal Gloriana is Tainted because it is a Clouded Mirror of Prime Gloriana
Same as Serenwilde.

As for the fae and the Taint. Fae are -resistant- to the Taint. Sure, it's possible to Taint them, but , who would take the effort to Taint the Fae quite so..crudely.

Ellindel didn't 'protect' them from the Taint. She cured it from them when they were spirits

Now they're physical, and they're quite resistant to common taint.

As for Gloriana restored and a Darker, but not Tainted Commune..

I don't see Gloriana, as it once was, as a dark Commune, merely because it worshipped Night.

They held themselves as Wise and Reflective. Judging by Rowena's journal entries on the Webpage, they were very -not- dark. *g*

Although, on a seperate topic, I'd like to see physical manifestations of all of the Great Spirits.

QUOTE (Fain @ Nov 1 2004, 01:37 AM)
As much as we all (admins) love this idea, it will be a long time coming if and when it comes.. Lusternia is still in open beta and hasn't even been open a month yet (c'mon people! give us a break!) There are plenty of other reasons why this may not happen for a while, but keep the faith! The more player interest there is, the more likely it is to happen.. so just don't give up on it. Anyway, that's my two cents.. I'm sure most of the other gods will agree with my statement as well.

In the thread about Glomdoring feedback. Fain is a divine.
However, Merloch, I agree with your point on how Gloriana was not a darker commune - moon could be taken as dark in the same way as night, and Serenwilde is in no way a dark commune.
Donnar, I think that the power cost should be lowered, but the corpse required should be spicific - for example, to get one ent, you need a cow corpse, while another requires a pilgrim.
