The astral nodes seem way more complex than herbs, though. I don't think many people understand how they work - i've never even been up to the astral plane, let alone tried to link with nodes. Also, people would probably be more restricted by trying not to die to whatever horrors are up there, than by the fullness of a node...
But in comparison there are an awful lot of herbalists, and they'd definitely notice the rate at which plants grow back. It's just an idea though, I guess.
