I know of a few people that brought their own DDR machine. That helps alot with learning to do freestyle.. Or you can get the crappy plastic pad for the PS2, or buy the metal one for a fair bit. Or you can just retire
For me when I did do DDR. I would go for stream, voltage around 150-170bpm. My favourite ones where I will sneak on when no one is looking. Holic, Dar Dariram and that one dj Taka and Naoki
