The Gloriana IS a bad idea if you think of it purely as another commune like the Seren, but you have so many possibilities beyond that. etc...
Exactly! I couldn't agree more, and think you have some excellent ideas. Let's try and go for a -little- more complex relationship than taint vs no taint, which we already have.
Unknown2004-11-26 02:10:18
Agreed. Although it might be interesting RP to have the two similar communes and see if they try to stand over one another or join together to stand against the cities/taint.
Unknown2004-11-26 02:13:33
we all know where I stand. I'll back it all the way. Reguardless what faelings say......let's hear it for the dark forest commune!!!
Unknown2004-11-26 07:47:41
Now the big question..
Where the hell are you 45 people interested in Glomdoring hiding at?!

OOC, I'd love for it to come back; IC, I dont' care if it's there, if it's not, or if it's Gloriana or whatever.
The thing that I think too many peopel assume, is that Glomdoring woudl ally with Magnagora. Where does this come from? Oh, cause they're tainted? From what I've seen, the Taint is nowhere near someting you'd consider a unifier.
Why woudl Glomdoring suddenly be for a city, something that is civilization? If anythgin, I would see it as a completely agressive place. Those hailing from it would seek to completely eliminate all the cities, no matter if they were tainted or not. And They could be against Serenwilde, for teh place did nothgin to save them from the taint, but instead went into isolation, not doing anything for anything but itself. Why would the place seek to ally with those that betrayed them, or anyone from civilization?

Ditto, Dritex. Glomdoring by no means will automatically ally with Magnagora. Emperor Ladantine and Rowena Nightshade don't exactly get along, do they?
P.S. Why do you people think you can have two similiar but seperate communes in conflict? It's called Celidon and Khandava, it was tried on Imperian, and it became the Turtle vs. the Butterfly. Doesn't work. They just ally and go about their hugging and giggling.

I voted yes for both.
OOCly because it would be interesting to see the stance Glomdoring takes (after all, the Taint may not be a unifier, but they may find common interests and kinship with Magnagora. Or maybe they'll ally with Serenwilde, unified in hatred for cities. Or maybe they'll hate everyone equally and act like 'renegades': attacking and invading everywhere else with equal fervor. Who knows, really?). IC, Jack doesn't really care what happens, but currently he holds numberous DoC members in high regard, and would like to see them achieve their goal.

Both Khandava and Celdion have the crede of protect the wilds or protect nature. IT was their goal to stop any harm to the land from demons.
Communes in Lusternia have the goal of protecting themselves and stopping cities from destroying the world. And since one is tainted and one is not, they will have different views on what destroying the world means.

Unless Serenwilde decides to cycle out it's entire leadership, there won't be much allying going on between us for a good looong time.
Merloch2004-11-27 01:09:51
I remember when the Jesters came to Achaea
For a while, atleast a short while, the GM was played by a God.
(A character controlled by a God)
It'd be interesting to see Rowena or Brennan lead Glomdoring, if it stays Glomdoring, or if it purifies to Gloriana, someone else.
Reversely, the same for those cities that are stuck in time. It gives a bit of RP to the organization

Nice idea.
It would make a lot of sense for Gaudiguch and Hallifax to be run by NPC's for a while...
"Hey! You've been trapped in time for centuries. I let you out. Could you hand me the keys to the treasury?"

Why would a Tainted commune feel anger towards Serenwilde for letting them be Tainted? If anything, they'd feel pity on Serenwilde for missing out. Being Tainted and discussing it with negative connotations would be rejecting the Taint (like Viscanti that go to Celest, the RP is based around them thinking the Taint is bad).
Raiha2004-11-27 07:36:17
OOCly, definitely. I think it would be extremely interesting to see how Serenwilde reacts, since one forest weakens as the other grows stronger. Not sure if that'd even apply, but if it did, it would be cool to see how that works. Plus it's just a great concept anyway, crazy tainted forest-y folk.
IC.. eh, not really, for obvious reasons.

I don't want to see it as "Magnagora gets a forestal guild" (and an alembic).
I don't want to see them become similar to Serenwilde either, where people are more snuggly, happy, and... well, relaxed.
Honestly I don't really see how they could become a full commune and have neither of these issues arise. No matter how great the leadership is, the people who join will also be influential, and possibly not in a positive way.
But then, i'm also not too familiar with the Disciples' aims. Do they want to spread the Taint to other forests, (edit) or just focus on the Glomdoring flourishing? How would they react if Magnagora wished to ally? Will they play it as a completely Tainted role, or rather just be 'darker' forestals? Also, parts of the Glomdoring seem in a state of decay. Will the Disciples seek to help the forest grow, or seek to further the Taint? Does one counter the other - will furthering the Taint in the Glomdoring cause the forest to simply die even more, and if it does, would the Disciples be for or against this? If helping the forest grow worked to repulse the Taint, would they be more pro-Gloriana, or just... seek to maintain a balance? Are they indeed disciples of the Crow, members of his coven, or are they 'forestals' (albeit dark ones)?
In any case I don't think they're exactly ready to be a commune yet anyway - DEFINITELY not something newbies choose at creation. Are there even enough Disciples to fill up the Ministries a city/commune would have? Trying to stretch members too thinly, and then deal with outsiders wanting in, wouldn't go well for the Disciples, and I think they'd lose a lot. Whatever happens i'd like to see their relationship with the Glomdoring/Gloriana grow a lot more, first... more than just summoning the Crow, too. One spirit is enough for a coven, but there needs to be more for an entire commune to exist there.

Yes, the Disciples need to grow, but both of your situations - Magnagora gets forest guilds and we get another Serenwilde - aren't about to happen.

How can you guarantee that?
I know it's not the Disciples' intention to have either situation arise, but do you expect everyone who wants to join a future commune to be 'screened' first? If that's the case it'll never be available as a city to join upon creation. And given that Sarapis in Achaea was pretty much opposed to this type of 'elitism' (look how much he hated the Occultists' novice requirements ) do you think that the Divine in this realm, who've already worked the system to prevent this by simply allowing anyone to pass novicehood after 24 hours, would let you keep out anyone you deemed unfit?
Also, I wasn't saying that it was 100% sure your commune would turn into one or the other (Magnagora's forestal guild or another Serenwilde) I was just saying that it might - both were possible, and would arise as issues.

About the snuggly Glomdoring bit, I don't think the three top crows would let that happen. What we want is -far- from that.
Also, what is funny to me, is that Glomdoring has been made, it just needs some politics, maybe another building or so. Restoration of the nexus, etc.
The two cities aren't made yet.
Which is easier?
And about Visaeris's "Where are those 45 people", it's up to 51 now, and I'm starting to wonder too. If you want it to prosper IC... why haven't we talked to you? Heh... Get some cool RP going!

1) Serenwilde and Glomdoring, quite simply, have fought to much to get along.
2) It is quite likely -anyone- who brings cuddly-wuddly rp in Glomdoring will be kicked out.
3) Lord Fain has made public statements that Glomdoring is of no consequence, and other things to that extent, which I have on good word the Disciples have heard. It won't be an automatic alliance between Glomdoring and Magnagora, by any means.

1) Yes.. You know how Auseklis keeps posting in various places about how Rowena and Brennan and Crow don't like Serenwilde? .... Gee I wonder why
2) Yes.
3) Well if I end up leading(*crosses fingers*), we're not allying with any city..
