Let me just say, Snowballs in Environment is hella cool. But the concept isn't being taken far enough! You throw a snowball, it hits someone, falls to the ground, and... well, it gets old. Snowballs should break apart on impact, for one. And I want to make a snowman! Not to mention snow forts, or igloos or something.
I can envision a new clan, "Snow Seekers", who run around the lands looking for blizzards where they can stock up on white gold (and I don't mean cocaine). Organized snowball fights, a snowball fighting leage, maybe even a new snow village! Unfortunately, one that'd melt in summer...
Well, at least i'd like to be able to make a snowman. Or a snow-faeling, or snow-tae'dae or something. Pleeeease?

AB ARTS SNOWSCUPT
Given a large quantity of snow, you can create statues out of ice. Of course, they'll melt and can't be enchanted, but you can carry them to different locations to add decoration.
AB ENVIRONMENT SNOWFORT
Syntax: BUILD SNOWFORT
In a snowy environment, quickly erect a cheap barrier against incoming attacks! This also has the benefit of hiding you from view. However, in order to attack, you'd have to leave the snow fort (done automatically, you can reenter using HIDE IN SNOWFORT), and anyone can simply KICK SNOWFORT to deliver a hard kick to it. After several kicks, the fort will collapse on you, if you're still in it.
Yeah yeah, unbalanced, I know. But my 2 gold pieces worth.

I just had an idea...
If there were a skill in Environment that let you construct forts and the like to hide yourself from view and offer some limited protection against attackers. Example:
---
AB ENVIRONMENT FORTIFY
You've learned how to utilize the materials at hand effectively, allowing you to construct mediocre defenses. Note that the forts available for usage here can be KICKed in, and some require items such as a shovel. You can attack from a fort, but unless you're using a ranged weapon it's very likely you'll miss. Only one fort may exist in a location at a time. Here are the following forts that can be constructed:
CONSTRUCT SNOWFORT
If a blizzard is happening, or if you are in snowy terrain, you may construct a snowfort. It has a high chance of blocking several attacks of any kind (a random number from 20 - 40) and hide you from view. If you have a shovel on hand, it will halve the time it takes to construct this. Fire-based attacks can melt it altogether. It takes three kicks to knock it down.
CONSTRUCT STICKFORT
If you're in a forest or woodland, you may use the sticks to erect a barrier. It will not hide you from view, but it will block ranged attacks. Fire-based attacks can cause it to burst into flame, forcing the inhabitant to evacuate or be scorched. Any melee attacks upon the fort have a significantly increased chance of missing, and if they should hit the damage will be halved. It takes five kicks to knock it down.
CONSTRUCT ROCKFORT
If you're in mountains or other rocky terrain you can construct a fort of rocks. These will block ranged attacks and melee attacks most of the time. If inhabitants of the fort are attacked with weaponry, it can cause the weaponry to shatter or blunt, decreasing its effectiveness significantly. It takes seven kicks to knock it down.
CONSTRUCT EARTHFORT
You need a shovel to construct this fort, and it takes some time. It's one of the most powerful forts, made of packed earth. Ranged attacks are almost completely useless against it (the earth fort blocks them 95% of the time), and before melee attacks may land there's a three second delay to clamber up the earthen walls of the fort. Water-based attacks can cause it to erode (same effect as two kicks). It takes ten kicks to knock it down.
There are also add-ons that may be put onto the fort, but only two at a time. These may be KICKed down as well.
CONSTRUCT SPIKES ON (fort)
If you find suitable material, you can erect spikes on the walls of your fort, which deal damage to melee-attacking enemies. The only exception is snowforts. Spikes take two kicks to knock down. You may also envenom spikes if you have the skill and venom.
CONSTRUCT TRENCH AROUND (fort)
Provided you have a shovel, you can dig a three-foot deep trench around your fort, delaying the progress of those attempting to attack it by a few seconds. This add-on may not be kicked down. Instead, it needs to be filled by means of FILL TRENCH AROUND (fort). This goes significantly faster if you have a shovel.
CONSTRUCT TRIPWIRE AROUND (fort)
This devious trap requires a rope and wood commodity, and trips those attempting to attack your fort. It requires four kicks to knock down, though there's a chance that kickers might be tripped while kicking. It has no effect on those that are levitating. Can be coupled with spikes - if an attacker is tripped, they land on the spike for double damage.
CONSTRUCT HIGHWALL ON (fort)
Requires a shovel. Make your walls higher, increasing the amount of defense you have within the fort. This prevents you from attacking at all except with ranged weapons. Also adds two kicks to whatever it took before to knock down the fort.
CONSTRUCT ROCKPILE WITHIN (fort)
Requires a shovel. Amass a pile of rubble and debris. If you have a shovel, you may FLING DEBRIS at enemies, stunning them and doing some damage. If they are in a constructed trench at that point, you can possibly knock them down, effectively foiling their attack. Cannot be kicked down.

I probably went a bit overboard here. Ah well...

what an interesting idea....

I would have been happy with just a simple snowman at Adept...
Unknown2004-11-29 17:25:14
Heh, cocaine.
And snowmen would be cool.

I feel like a little kid again...
Implement snowforts!

I can see it now...
Celest "You're in for it now Magnagoran scum!"
Magnagora "Really? We'll see about that"
Celest & Magnagora "Troops!....To the snowfields!"
The idea of Daevos standing there destroying all comers with a hail of snowballs from atop an igloo would be priceless.

Oh, everyone knows the Magnagorans would use their cheating overpowered yellow snow

I'd hide rocks in mine.

I volunteer now to make any yellow snow.
Even multicoloured snow with carrot bits.

Heh. Now all be need is a skill called Seigecraft. Batter down the fort with a tree! Lob rocks until they surrender!
But, on a lighter note, I remember as a kid having great matches of capture the flag snowball fights. Anyone want to see this implimented in the arena some way if possible? Or even skills to establish one in the real world.
Ab Environment Packball- Pack down a snowball into a small, hard object that can be thrown with greater speed and acurracy. Takes time to make from a normal snowball, but allows for faster balance recovery and greater chance of hitting your mark.

This made me laugh so much. Snowforts/ball fights would be great.
