*If* you don't shout to the winds who you are, what you intend to do, and to whom, and declare war, posture, etc, etc, as Visaeris has done, and instead have a quiet clan, with an unassuming name and a loyal membership base, there is *no* reason that it should ever come to a totem situation.

Who in their right mind is going to totem/statue against 'The University of Hallifax', or the 'Glomdoring Culinary Club', unless said organisations make threats/pose/statements that they're going to pick on/kill/maim/destroy that person/city/guild?

(secretly wants to be threatened by the Glomdoing Culinary Club - I'd need to arm myself, to the teeth, with a customised wooden spoon and a chef's hat)

I understand now that the totem/statue bit is here to stay, but is it at -all- possible that the clan head can choose not to have the clan head gig in his honors?

Can't you just make the clan alias something incredibly hard to guess? DOC is pretty straightforward, but what if it was like more of an obscure word? Could you still tune against the clan, not knowing its alias? I wouldn't think that you could.

You can just change the clan alias then all the statues would be voided no?

The clan alias can be found under HELP CLANLIST, but only if its a public clan. I don't know if you can tune against the full name in the same way you can do "CLANHELP " and get the help file.

Change the name to Visaeris' Fanclub.

One of the best solutions I can think of is create a new clan by someone who never joined DoC but that they trust. Give it a suitably innocuous (sp?) name - "Stewardsville Social Club" or whatever. Then everyone quits DoC save Visaeris since we can't see it on their honours, only on his. They all join the new clan. Voila, still have the functionality of a private clan, still do everything in public under the name DoC and don't let anyone know about the new one.

Private clans are there too, only secret clans are off the list. The Black Market is listed there rolleyes.gif

edit: The Black Market was listed there... Huh. I was pretty sure private clans were listed, they were back in Achaea I thought huh.gif

Confused now. Is my clan listed or not?

And can you tune totems against -clan name- and not just -clan alias-? If that were the case, I'd change my alias to something else.

If I have the full name of the Clan I can tune totem/statue against it. So it doesn't matter if the alias is changed or not.

But if you changed its official full name to 8w72347jju and then had its UNOFFICIAL full name as Disciples of Crow, then it'd work.

Well there was apparently a spy or two planted within our membership, so even under those conditions we would still have been found out.

Doubtful... I think we had alts in our clan. The reason I don't fear information leaks as much in The Black Market is because I only let in trans merchants. They're not some random person that took five minutes to make, most of them took some time.

Except for one guy, who decided he wanted three master merchants in my clan. I won't name names, but I hate you.

So, yeah, goes back to my "using alts for evil is crap" discussion.
