I also believe we should have an elemental type troop. WIthin the history of Lusternia, we discovered that the aeromancers and pryomancers were used in a war conflict. so. we should have a Geomancers type troop and a Aquamancer type troop which would be projectile

the war systems I have found are either so balanced nobody goes anywhere, or one team has such a good idea and figure out to wipe everybody else out that it soon has to be "nerfed"
Questing out villages is our war system... if only people realized what they could do without pk in it.

Well, besides influencing the villages under a city's command. we could also have a seige type command where troops lay seige to a village and fight against enemy troops until a period of time where it would be captured..

I think a war system would be completely redundant here, in other games, a war system would be useful to enable the cities to capture territory, villages, outposts, and bring more conflict into the world, Lusternia already has all that, and more...without using some complicated war system, the amount of conflict Lusternia has seen so far is a nice proof that we DON'T need some kind of war system. Let's focus on the important stuff, building up cities, communes, leadership, training your soldiers and even raising new cities. If we don't need something, it's a war system.

what troops are you talking about? you mean the players? I think troops would be wonderful for lusternia
Unknown2004-12-03 18:59:09
With village-infleuncing, why do we need troops?
Shiri2004-12-05 10:16:06
I think the whole troops thing just sort of distills true combat. Keep the wars PvP. We already have influencing, as Iggy says.
Unknown2004-12-05 11:22:30
Unless you mean, that one side wins when it successfully break the will to play of the other side, a 'PvP war' is a meaningless concept. I would have thougth this had been proven if not experienced countless times in all IRE games.
Influencing is a good step onward though, but limited as well.
And i wouldn't mind a giant chess game at the scale of the Basin.

PvP war isn't really about that. Take the influencing. The warring there is to stop the other side from completing an important task in order to get more resources etc. It's not DIRECTLY the PKing that's involved, but it's essentially a war nonetheless.

I still say troops and ships would be a good idea. but its up to the elder gods!

Whoa, that would be awsome. Only it couldnt be chess, because there are only two sides in that, and there are many different powers here.
Has anyone here played the game diplomacy? Many different troos, but they all have the same overall power. To kill other guys (who don't end up dying, just retreating), you must team up (possibly with another player).
A variation on that could be cool for a basin wide war system.

yeah, you don't even need an IA.
With the influence skill, you would hire troops from the population. Once you got enough guys, they would merge into a squad that could eventually grow into an army.
With the squad, you would benefit a bonus when influencing. Once a squad is merged, one could enter it and can no longer be targettable by PvP skills. With a squad, one could wander around, enter the village of an enemy and if it could hold the position for a sufficent period of time, perform a successful raid on the villages, and bring a batch of comms to an allied city while leaving the denizens of the village in a state of shock.
The position of a squad could be challenged at any time by another squad, opening a miscaellanous game like 'checkers' or 'draught'..
each victory would give brownie point to the winners, who could buy cityfavours with them and so and so..
