I won't name any names here, because generally, I like this guy. Also, most of this conversation was on AIM, so, keep that in mind.
I left the crows, if anyone read the public post. Afterwards, I was unenemied to Magnagora. Then, I was asked, over AIM, to divulge a full clanlist. I was told that if I didn't, that person would just make an alt to infiltrate them.
I'm not the only person that this dissappoints, right?

Nope
Akhenaten2004-12-02 23:13:22
No, yeah, there are plenty enough morons to go around.
Shiri2004-12-02 23:27:19
I've actually heard a Celestian with a Magnagoran alt bring information directly from one channel to another, which while totally out of RP is technically legal by the game rules, since they weren't logged on at the same time or helping each other directly...Celest used the information without another word. Is this common practice, or what? I hope not.

I think it is. People aren't very creative in that regard.
That's why both cities have a clan dedicated to the rough stuff where no measly novice alts can weasel in.
Richter2004-12-02 23:44:42
I want to RP spies. I want to have some cloak and dagger stuff. I -don't- want to have people telling me to give them lists occ or they'll make alts... The celestian/magnagora thing is another great example.
Can't you people (reffering to the offenders) do some spy work?

I don't know about that story about Celest, but anyone doing anything even remotely resembling any of this ought to be a vaguely humanoid pile of charred ash, or perhaps a nice shrubbery.
Anyone abusing alts can go the hell back to Achaea. They don't give a damn, where as Lusternia still has a chance here. Morons...

This is not legal by game rules.
From HELP SECONDS:
QUOTE
Second characters (and beyond) in Lusternia a are allowed, but a higher standard for roleplaying will generally be imposed upon those who play multiple characters. Furthermore, using one for the purpose of helping the other is not allowed.
That is both terrible RP and certainly falls under 'using one for the purpose of helping the other'.

Zolas you beat me to it.

Unknown2004-12-03 00:36:18
It helps the other person's character by giving them information that they would not have otherwise acquired. The fact that it also helps other people is the icing on the cake.
Daganev2004-12-03 00:37:06
It helps the charachter that reported the information because now they are more liked and are thanked for helping the city

Magnagoran1 says to Magnagoran2, "Make an alt, give me a list of thier army."
Magnagoran2 says, "Ok!"

I rmember when I first played achaea... so like 6 years ago. I made an alt to spy on the other city. But My alt talked to someone else in the city and played as a spy. I thought that would be less cheating then. Boy have I learned my mistakes.
Dritex2004-12-03 00:45:58
Getting the information, is helping your character, as you are probably getting info that helps your organization. Thus, if you got info that would advance your organization's position, then you are deffinaetly helping your own character in getting advanced.
You can't pass info between characters. That is why the help file says that a higher level of roleplay is expected of people with alts. If one character is being used ot get things for the other, then they are most deffinately abusing alts.

I've made it so that I cannot do it, and I cannot chat cross-character with people, like I did in Aetolia.
I created one character. That's all I will ever have in Lusternia.

Having been a spy in Imperian... (Got quite wealthy off it, with a bank account of over 1.9 million gold from spying alone...) the trick isn't orginizational spying, its blackmailing...
See, I wont name the people involved, not like anyone from Imperian DOESN'T know who I am talking about, but during the Kinsarmar Stavenn War... (The Lokrien one) some of us shady types made good money, while certain 'shark teeth' pretending to be good spies... if any of you shark teeth are reading this, do not admit it... but anyways, I made my money off of an ambitious family... we will call them the K's... you see, I had done some spying on Mr K.s wife before, because he thought she was cheating, so when the war broke out he decided to contact me, and tell me the name of an agent in Stavenn to contact, he paid me 50k each time I contacted him... so now I got a tell everytime he was ready to contact me by Mr K then I would phase, run into Stavenn, find a room with no guards, he would then come to me, give me a letter, I fade again and leave.
I didn't make much here... what I did make money with is that when my contact tried to get me to help Stavenn... at first I thought it was mr K trying to find a way to break the deal, (I had thought it was an alt) but the I discovered it wasn't... so I began to 'poison' Kinsarmar... when the war ended, I now revealed what had happened, revealed that HIS agent had gone turncoat, and that I know held proof that Mr K knowengly sabatoged the later Kinsarmar war effort...
Blackmail... my little sab never was out of money ever again

And my character suspected the fishy goings on, but Mr. K's family rose to prominence nonetheless.
Soryialis2004-12-03 06:44:03
I am not impressed by anyone that uses alts to get inside knowledge of other organizations. IC spies are altogether different though.

Its still wrong, no matter what sneaky spin you try to put on it.
