I think it's far more likely a new plane would be discovered... and how much cooler would that be than a boring old continent?
Unknown2004-12-04 20:30:41
I like the idea of the existing cities setting up outposts out on the new frontier and battling for the new land and resources. It would take the emphasis away from conflict in the Basin, however; it would be like Dark Age of Camelot, with everyone hanging around their realm and then going off to the battle area to claim land for their side.

You don't apply to be a builder until there are announce posts asking for applications.
Also, I think we need to get Hallifax, Gaudigauch, Glomdoring, Ackleberry before we consider getting different continents And triple the playerbase.

Actually, I have an idea to fix that.
Since the areas outside the Basin have been much more extensively ravaged, resources there are rarer, and generally of lower quality. Villages in the Outlands (that's what I'll call it for now) would be overall less valuable then their comrades in the Basin, but perhaps easier to influence. A lot of it would revolve around the aforementioned revitilization/colonization roleplay.
One point is that if it was all Tainted, Magnagora would hold a massive advantage. However, since the Outlands Taint was not all from Kethuru, and has decayed and fragmented and mutated for centuries or millenia, it merely represents an alien presence that harms EVERYONE, and must be removed like a demesne before you can establish a demesne there.
Finally, I have a vague idea that magic would be much less developed among any inhabitants of the Outlands, which could lead to some excellent roleplay revolving around their shock and awe, and whether players exploited it.
P.S. This is my new pet topic.

And I hate the idea of an Ackleberry commune. That's just my gut instinct speaking, there.
Unknown2004-12-04 21:59:32
I don't think the Outlands were touched by the Taint. They would be touched by Kethuru. Kethuru and the Taint were two different things - the Taint was sort of a milder version of Kethuru.
So yeah, whatever is left in these "Outlands" (I like that term), it would probably be dangerous to Magnagorans, too.

This is perhaps one of the few things that could pull me away from Hallifax.
Also, remember that Kethuru wasn't the only Soulless. Others ravaged the world as well.

Demonic Races Similiar to Viscanti.. Hords of Demon's who follow the taints will waiting for Magnagora to come find them. Artifacts of light and the light warriors who lay dormant in the waste lands. Danger awaits those who dare explore these mysterious and demonic lands.. What would wait Serenwilde, Magnagora and Celest. find out next time!!

A commune of furrikin and tae'dae... Jebus, imagine the snugglyness/oddness.

Of course, because such a commune definately wouldn't be like EVERY OTHER forestal community in ALL the other IRE games and thus totally predictable...*inno* Sorry, just couldn't resist.
Unknown2004-12-04 22:08:55
There's a considerable amount of tae'dae and furrikin in Serenwilde.
Anyway, I don't see how tae'dae are stereotypically cuddly...Cronus may be friendly, but they are giant grizzly bears.
Just to back up my taint different from Kethuru point...

More like a stuffed, dead tiger vs a real one, but yes.
Actually, a better example: Imagine that computers could kill people at the touch of a button. Those computers would be Taint. Then imagine that the power source (Kethuru) got switched off and completely disconnected. What the geomancers do is make computers. Whilst they can't kill people at the touch of a button as they don't work any more, they can still be made dangerous by someone trained to use them without power (imagine having someone's monitor and hard drive thrown at your head).
The Gods aren't scared of many things, but Kethuru and his emanations are one of those few.

Here's the reason I distrust Ackleberry:
If you bring back Gloriana, there's at least a moderate chance you'll have a darker, edgier forestal group without the fuzzy-wuzzy huggy-wuggy forestal roleplay inherited from Achaea and widespread in Serenwilde. Bring back Ackleberry? Almost guaranteed to have that disease from the start.

I sure hope not. Because if Ackleberry IS opened, Cronus will of course have to go there. It's his ancestral commune.
Hazar2004-12-04 22:19:50
Of course, if it could be managed in a responsible way - somewhat realistic cuddly-wuddly roleplay with an edge - it would be an awesome place.

Like a real bear. Looks cuddly wuddly then rips you limb from limb when provoked?

I want limb-rippage as an ability (and don't say blademaster)
Richter2004-12-05 05:21:40
Well, there's always blademaster.
Shoshana2004-12-05 05:46:02
I'm all for Ackleberry being a happy snuggly commune, that way hopefully all the happy snuggly people will be concentrated on one area leaving Serenwilde and Glomdoring/Gloriana to be what they are meant to be
