Continents

Back to Common Grounds.

I actually posted something about a possible new continent on the Achaean forums (which was actually a lead in for an idea I had for a boating skillset) and Sarapis gave a very affirmative response to the idea of another continent. Now, Achaea is a lot more crowded into their one continent then we are, and are probably a handful of rl years away from another continent.

The solution of another continent of barren wasteland with artifacts to find and things to kill (for ease of coding) seems kind of like the easy way out.

What about this....

We have Ackleberry come back... but it comes back upon another continent. That'd A )Help in not having to have at least 7 "cities" within the basin and B ) help tie in new ways for the new continent to be reached/found out about/connected to the basin.

Why would Ackleberry be in another continent? Have you ever looked at the map of the basin?
Ackleberry is within the mountains (Its the forest that Estelbar is right outside of). It is in the basin, what would make it suddenly move?

This thread reminds me of the song, "Somewhere...over the rainbow!"

Look at the room descs as you wander around the Razines past where the Ackleberry once was. You can see it occasionally through the mists. It's really in the same situation as Hallifax/Gaudiguch.

I personally think the main continent needs to be filled out more. The mountains currently are just vast trails around the basin.

When I first entered Lusternia I was amazed how easy it was to navigate and it is relatively small. The reason is of course there is a lot of room to expand and what we have right now is the bones.

Before we go off continent there is a lot of potential within the Basin as is.

The structure is very large though and things are rather largely spaced from each other. Almost anyone can teleport rather quickly without walking which means conflict because less drawn out. And things become much smaller in that sense.

I think the layout is better than Achaea.

Why? Quite simple, something went wrong with the way it was ment to come back in. Perhaps the spell was cast slightly wrong when first used, causing the prime location of it to get warped. Perhaps it was only ment to come back when the basin was fully cleansed(of the taint), and without it that way, it was knocked out of prpperly returning. Maybe the spell used to bring it back in was performed wrong, making it go elsewhere.

I'm not saying it has to be done. I'm saying it could be done, so long as it's explained well. It could come back wrong, thus causing a huge worlwide event of poeple going off to help the forrest lost off in the middle of unknown lands, with others possible trying to take advantage and screw them over.

I'm just proposing it as possible way to reach multiple goals with one things.

I don't think it's quite in the same situation as the cities are. The cities were frozen in time, but completely on accident. You could clearly see them, no matter what, and their nexuses still existed in places where we can see them. With Ackleberry, it was purposfully removed, and we have no trace of even it's Ethereal counterpart, nor its nexus.

I do see what your saying about sometimes being able to see it through the mists. It's mostly likely to come back within the basin. I'm just saying that it is probably possible for it to get screwed over, and return somewhere else.

There we go.

Damnit, Mary posted before me. :/

Ooh. Fievel, from An American Tail, and Fievel Goes West? (Funny, I thought about that film for the first time in years today. :/ Freaky you would mention it.)
Richter2004-12-06 18:17:06
I placed that thought in your mind.

Fear me.
