If the gods had explained any such existence beyond our lateral movement in Lusternia it might expand the arrogance that we have in our arrogance that we are the center of the universe. With all the gods scattered beyond and unable to find their way back without the beacon of the fulcrux, it only lends credit to the notion that yes, indeed we are the center of existence. Why not stay lost out in the vastness of the infinite realms of reality doing what you were doing for those aeons on end instead of returning to a spot that seems to be the nexus of all creation?
On a slightly unrelated note: Are there soulless still out there, destroying the different states of different planes? Or are the soulless that were trapped or sealed in our latteral plane of existence the only ones?

We returned to Lusternia because it was where we were created as well. Did Dynara and Magnora create things - or even gods - elsewhere? A good question to which we have no good answer. And are there more soulless? We believe not... but it is impossible to say with complete certainty.
Lisaera2004-12-10 12:48:43
Actually, I'm often quite tempted to leave again, especially when Serenwilde is having one of its bickering sessions.
And "unable" is the wrong word, the beacon just doesn't carry across the entirety of existence, so it takes a while before you notice Lusternia even has life on it. Personally, My only real reason for returning was because I felt My brother there and I hoped to find My sister.

Lusternia wasn't the center of creation, it was one of many planets created by Dynara. Most likely if it wasn't for the Soulless attacking the different worlds then Lusternia would of been among hundreds maybe even Thousands. I am glad The Elder ones are returning to Lusternai because without their wisdom then we are doomed to repeat the mistakes of the past.
Unknown2004-12-10 13:24:22
I believe why they wish to return to Lusternia is because Many of the Elder ones fragemented themselfs and formed mortal races.

Life is the center of universe to everyh person, since they can only feel what they touch, and only see what they see. We all know life exists outside of us, but to us, it is life, so it is our center of the universe. If we weren't there, there'd be no center of the universe for us.

I thought Roark was the center of the universe....
That reminds me, a great book is Science Made Stupid. They have diagrams illustrating various models of the universe. Geocentric has all the planets revolving around the Earth. Solarcentric has all the planets revolving around the sun. Finally, the more modern egocentric has the universe drawn revolving around your head.

That reminds me of a program, once, I can't remember the name (brief history of the last 2000 years? Something like that) hosted by Angus Deaton. At one point, between all the various incarnations of Tim NiceButDim and so forth, they had 3 people representing medieval serfs, renaissance weirdos and modern businessmen talking about various things.
"I'm so stupid I think the sun goes to bed at night!" - Medieval
"I'm so smart I think the sun revolves around the earth!" - Renaissance
"I'm so educated I know the sun shines out from inside my trousers!" - Modern

*Idly wonders if anyone knows who he is* So are we supposed to be piecing this history together on our own, and once the Gods tell us enough it will be posted in the Library?
Dan2005-01-13 23:27:14
I tell you, I absolutely love history ICly and OOCly. I especially love ancient history in the OOC... perhaps the reason Dan likes history and knowledge so much, and wishes to study and pursue it rather than fight and die.
One thing I find interesting, is that the Vernal Gods were able to defeat the Soulless Ones... although, they did have to sacrifice themselves to do the job. But still, do you think it is possible the man made Vernal God is stronger than the ancient beings we call the Elder Gods?
As for the history... WHEN IS IT COMING OUT?!?!?! -pant- -drool- -pant- -drool-
... when was this conversation you spoke of held? Why did I miss it? Is it still going on... because I want in!
I personally think, that there are still many gods left out there, but, as said earlier, will take some time to reach Lusternia. Although the beacon may attract them, it is not instant, as everything that sends out some sort of energy takes time to get there... even light! So, even if it was a giant flashlight, it may be hundreds of years before it reaches one of the Gods in deep space.
I can only hope the Soulless never re-awaken. When or if they do though, we must be prepared -sagenod- ... with a vernal!

This conversation happened, like, months ago. Volroc just necro'd the thread.
EDIT: Interesting how Dan now has Shiro's old avatar.

Lisaera said somewhere that tons of Elder Gods killed Soulless Gods, but only a few Vernals managed to do so. And I think they were working in groups, too.

I highly doubt that the Vernal Gods are more powerful than the Elder Gods, I would think them as very supercharged Mortals. The Elder Gods were able to destroy the Soulless Gods, if I remember correctly the Vernal Gods were only able to prevent them from returning for a while. And if I am wrong, please someone correct me.
The conversation with Lisaera, Auseklis, and Lacostian happened a -LONG- time ago in Lusternia, since the time when Terentia arrived. Out of Lusternia, I think it was about a month, yep.
The reason you were not here for it is because, you were not here. Or either you were, but not a Moondancer. Because she told her Order Members and the Moondancers, but mainly Moondancers appeared.
And if we had to piece the Elder Wars together, I would think we have a small start, with Fain and Raezon being thrown into the Void. But that would be just the beginning of the story, I think more happened. But Lisaera doesn't want to tell Jasper, that is the only thing in my way.

Here's the thing;
Elder Gods are stronger then Vernal Gods. And they did kill Soulless. Here's the thing.
Vernal Gods only possess their power because whole cities believed in them, and believed they would be Vernal Gods the entire city's years of labour could be validated by. When the Elder Gods gave up, ran away, and splintered into mortal races to escape, the Vernal Gods came and filled the gap, held the lines, and ultimately pushed back and forced the Soulless into imprisonment. The Elder Gods did not help in the Vernal Wars. They were too busy running away from the Soulless, the Soulless which the Vernal Gods and mortals were left to die to alone.
Now, OOC, the Elder Gods didn't exactly do this - it's just part of the backstory. But Hazar's view of them IC has always been *slightly* tarnished by this.

Mortals didn't exist when most of the Elder Gods left.
Mortals came into being when Elder Gods were destroyed, therefore what is presumed is that the majority of the Gods who left, did so, and the ones who stayed behind trying to fight, died.
Thus came mortal races.
Somehow, and we're unsure exactly how, mortals survived against the Soulless long enough to create their civilizations, form the Nexus' of Power, and make Vernal Gods.

1) Mortals didn't come about when Elders were killed, but when they voluntarily splintered into many beings.
2) The point remains that the Elders ran and it was the Vernals who ended up defeating the Soulless.

1. I'll concede that.
2. The Elder Gods killed hundreds of Soulless. Vernals/Mortals dealt with less than 50 or so.
