Faelings do quite well in the other 6 guilds though. Tae'dae only have 3.
It's not just that they're weaker though, in any non-physical guild they're bloody awful. Obviously merians will always make better Celestines, and viscanti will be better as Nihilists, but you're better off getting a broadsword if you want to be a tae'dae in any of those guilds. They should be worse, but not that much worse.

You can be a tae'dae druid if you want, if thats what you want to rp but combat wise and bashing wise. you will have the most diffcult problems. thats the kicker

Why not that much worse? Hell, if an Igasho joined anything but a warrior guild they're worse off than a tae'dae. Every race excels in one archetype or is average in two or three. Tae'dae excel in one.

Merians. Elves and Viscanti are different from the others race mainly because of their speciallization. it allows them to pick a guardian/mage/warrior type archtype without much worry. races like Tae'dae and Faeling don't have that specialization

Igasho only have level 1 slower equilibrium, but the same intelligence. They'd do a hell of a lot better than a tae'dae, I don't see how they'd be worse off? Unless you mean the resistances, but there are abilities (like Draconis or Barkskin) that would make up for those, for Igasho.

Tae'dae are simply not designed to be mages. Why should the system be changed so they can be? That's like saying because I'm no good at maths, the questions should be made easier in my final exams.

Not mages, if I came off as saying I thought they should be good in the Aquamancers or Geomancers then that's my mistake. But the thread started suggesting that tae'dae should be better as druids, and I second that - they should also not be so terrible as guardians either.
Supposedly guardians represent the 'spirit' of a city... so perhaps charisma could play a part in their skills, as well as intelligence? Or they could just get maces or something. Priests have maces, right?
Or maybe i'm completely wrong and tae'dae should never be anything other than hulking tanks who smash'um good... if that's the case, keep telling me i've got the wrong idea and eventually i'll accept it and move on

I think all Guardian classes, should be able to have a physical attack. A celestine would of course have a mace, nihilists a hammer, and the druid already has the cudgel(sp?).
I'd rather something more dramatic then a hammer, something vaguely swordish like a gladius or a dirk.Stetson2004-12-06 06:53:32

You know, you don't need to roleplay on here =P That being said. Why should one race be changed to suit your roleplay? I understand your anguish, but perhaps you should roleplay your character realising he wont be able to defend the forests as well as he should as a druid...
I agree whole-heartedly with Quidgyboo. While I do think roleplay is important, there are limits to the world, which you just have to work with.
I'm getting the vibe you just want a tanky race for a guardian, heh.
Daganev2004-12-06 07:09:10
The only STAT reason to be a tae'dae is the charisma. If your going on pure stats, its MUCH better to be igasho. Even better to be a dracnari or Viscanti. I think it makes perfect sense for Druids to be more dependant on Charisma. Fae's Tae'dae and Elves all have good charisma. I think even furrikin have decent charisma too.
Tae'dae are no more tanky as knight then any other race with the same Constitution. The resistances are handy when you have no skills, but when you have all the skills of a knight I don't find myself being that much more tanky than anyone else. Especially since many other races have natural regeneration on top of enchantments and skills.
If I was not a tae'dae for my RP I'd be an igasho or Viscanti.
I'm also pretty sure there arn't Any Tae'dae about who don't stick with it just for RP.
OH, and Druids are not mages, and Wiccans are not guardians. They are Druids and Wiccans.
That said, A Tae'dae would do better putting their lessons in Influence and ignoring most guild skills if they are not a warrior class.

I thought I'd quote that again because it is a very persuasive and clear statement, the best in these forums that I've read - the best words in the best order (italics quoted from my English teacher).

Tae'dae are a wonderful race, you got two options, either be a friendly, vegetarian pacifist bear, that uses his awesome charisma to influence...or you can be a walking, beastly fortress smashing everything in his way with sticks as big as people...cause whatever you think, tae'dae are by FAR, the most tanky race, viscanti are not tanky at all, even in tainted land, it's just putrefaction and puella that gives them beef and igasho don't even come close...anyway, both options for tae'dae are viable and fun lifestyles in my opinion, it's what they're designed for, there's no reason killing RP by making them good at something else.

Druid. I don't want to fight amazingly, I just want to be able to fight without being laughed at.
It's not just for personal reasons, but humanoid protective bears should be able to use the magic of a forest to defend it.

Check help tae'dae they have -small- intellect (not adept with magic). You can't cut that any other way.

Totems would seem to be otherwise, but regarding Nature and its specializations:
(From HELP NATURE)
Nature is the prime skill of both druids and wiccans, and reflects their bond with the natural kingdom, especially forests. Earth magic is drawn from the ethereal plane, and druids and most especially wiccans maintain close bonds with the Fae. Upon mastering nature, druids and wiccans move on to specialize in two very different paths: Druidry and Wicca.
---
It's magic, though I suspect one should call it 'Nature magic' rather than 'Earth magic'. Or is there some link between Nature and Geomancers?
I'd always seen Guardians as 'mages' of different training. Not typical fantasy Cleric, but instead something akin to Prester John. To borrow a phrase I'd overheard a Seren use once, Cosmic Mages.
Given that notion, Nature Mages also seem not only a viable concept, but a likely one. I guess the question is whether the use of familiar terms is meant to imply similarity with other systems and that Intelligence is a blend of traits that includes what we would consider Wisdom, versus the alternative that everyone is a mage to one degree or another (which seems supported by the fact that everyone knows some degree of Highmagic or Lowmagic, terminology which could also be argued).

Ahaha, mages, killing. Had me rofling there Shiro.
Ethelon2004-12-07 07:03:19
my Cosmicfire does 600 damage about and even less to anyone with defences up usually, you cudgel damage is 300 PLUS about 200 bleeding which STACKS. It's not the best by far, but teh bleeding damage in turn is dealt to mobs aswell for bashing it seems. This is not an assumption either, I was a Tae'dae Druid for a short while and still did well in fighting. The bleeding really gets intense if you get teh enemy distracted, especially in your demesne with thorns up, you can easily run even high level mages out of mana fast. Now with the face paints atleast you will be a little faster also.

Super demesne? The last time I fought a Wicca, he tanked my Demesne like it wasn't even there and he just blasted me constantly for over 800 damage every few seconds and that's not counting his Faes, and that's only because he was human. While I'm a Merian with 18 intelligence doing barely over 600 damage with my staff.
Iggy- Anyway, if you choose to be a tanky race (like Tae'dae) you have to give up something in return (intelligence in this scenario). I'm sure most of the Magi around would love to have some more health and most warriors would want some more intelligence, but you can't always have everything your way. Just make do with what you have, if you succeed in being a great fighter then you know it's through your own skills and preseverance, not because your class or race is overpowered.

If you didn't want to, then I'm not sure why you chose to roleplay a combination that obviously is rather poor at PK.
