Of prior to this duel, I got jumped by amaru and silimaur, i died and vitaed, tackle silimaur out of room and jumped straight back in (undeffed) and started killing amaru, it was only after silimaur jumped back in to finihs me off I died again.

I publicly challenged amaru to a duel which he accepted under Thorgals instruction, then Rafael turned up, and said it wasn't going to happen.

Silimaur then agreed to come duel me off his own accord and so the following happened... the log starts mid duel after he (silimaur) vitaed the first time

Hefting both weapons above your head, you begin swinging them in circles and
bellow out, "Palmam qui meruit ferat!!"
Focusing on his gut, you strike at Silimaur with a tormented spectre flail. You
pulp him in the gut, making him grunt and turn blue.

Thorgal2004-12-08 19:24:17
If anyone wonders why I did that: After all the work I put into my guild, all the people I trained, I get disfavoured, for telling Silimaur to accept the bloody duel.
Unknown2004-12-08 19:28:54
Um...why did you tell him to accept the dual?
Unknown2004-12-08 19:29:31
No, you forced him to accept the duel. These were your words, and his. You have no right to force another Paladin to accept a duel.
Thorgal2004-12-08 19:34:04
I was head of the order of the Dawn, and Silimaur was my main disciple, it wasn't just my right, it was my duty, to have him not cower away from a duel after jumping and teaming Murphy.
Unknown2004-12-08 19:37:44
I am the other acting head of that Order, but it's still not my right nor my duty to force another Paladin into a fight that's not directly for the good of the Light. Your actions were thus because his actions made the Paladins look bad in the eyes of Tainted beings. This duel put his life into a bad situation for no reason other than you wanted him to uphold a code of honour that's not applied when dealing with Magnagorans, Tainted beings, or anyone who supports either of those parties.

Edit:
By the way, this is the most amusing Guildrank title I've ever seen.
QUOTE
You are an Acceptable Loss in the Ur'Guard.
Thorgal2004-12-08 19:50:06
It's cowardice whatever way you look at it, even Silimaur knew that, since he continued the duel even after you tackled him away. I can cope with the dishonour of an inexperienced knight, but not with cowardice.
Unknown2004-12-08 19:58:22
I've declined many duels in my time, and no coward am I. However, last I knew we didn't owe honour to no Tainted being. Further, I, nor no other, is asking you to deal with cowardice of a Knight, inexperienced or not. That's not your duty.
Thorgal2004-12-08 20:31:29
Right, wasn't aware we were training a bunch of cowards, guess two knights are enough for the guild.
Unknown2004-12-08 20:38:34
I said it wasn't your duty, and my word is law on that. You can ask them to own up to a duel that has no relevance to the true goal of the Paladins after they've left the Apprenticeship that's Disciplehood, but you will most certainly not force them into it.
Unknown2004-12-08 21:03:58
Kinda seems pointless...you arguing on your character's viewpoints. Why don't you argue about it IG?
Unknown2004-12-08 21:08:14
Here is as good as there, I'd say. It's the IC part of the forum, *shrug*. What gets me is people who run by their IC name on here, speak about IC things related to their character, then say it's all -insert their characters name here- point of view, not their own.. Drives me bonkers. fish.gif

Err, and of course we have smiley faces here. mount.gif
Thorgal2004-12-08 21:11:35
No, disciples are already knights. Silimaur is a knight, not an apprentice.
Unknown2004-12-08 21:19:19
But they're inexperienced Knights. The Order they go into is an Apprenticeship that teaches them that aspect of the Guild. Honour toward Tainted beings is not a req. of any Order. *g*

There is no such thing as an IC part of any forum. These forums just happen to be about the game while the other part is about the rest of the world.

Don't need to hear about petty politics of game charachters I'm not involved in. John and Ken do it plenty for me.

I don't know, this is some of the best entertainment I've had since I was actually -in- the Paladins.

Someone mentioned something about no honor in tainted beings... how do you know that?

Reminds of that one death knight from dragonlance. Evil people can still have honor, hmm?

As I was debating the other day, the whole honour thing is messed up anyway. Everyone decides their own individual code of honour, so when they break it, they may well still be honourable according to someone else. Which leads to lots of ranting and raging about how people broke some silly rules they constructed for themselves.

As for Lord Soth, I don't know if he was really that honourable. But as I've just explained, honour's too subjective to tell. I suppose he was from his point of view, but killing his seneschal for no really good reason doesn't sound like the epitome of honourable discipline to me.

Honour is something you see in someone. It's not something a person decides if they have or not. In many cases I'll say that beings from all over the Basin have honour, but in certain circumstance I'll not acknowledge it. Amaru and Silimaur hunted Murphy for whatever reason, and I'm going to assume it was a good one. In any either case, the Paladins have no creed saying we owe ourselves to show honour to the Tainted. The only thing I demand of another Paladin that's down the path of combat is that they show their face to the Tainted long enough to kill them should the need arise. A duel does not fall into this catagory as it's not something that's directly interfering with the Light. When we hold duels the loser gets rezzed. *g*

You know what? Making a post where you're whining because there's an IC conflict that doesn't involve you on the forums in a thread that has absolutely nothing to do with you nor was started by you, in which no one asked you for your opinion on the matter is one of the most retarded things I've seen so far in these forums.
