If you want to order your entity around, just store its number in a variable and use the variable in your client (should even work in Java, though I'm not that familiar with it). A zMUD example:



My main problem with ents and their numbers is the attacking and not the ordering. If I attack something with the same name as my own entity, I may hit theirs or I may hit mine. It depends on the numbering and/or who came in last. I've even had trouble killing denizens and picking them up because the numbers got out of order or the names just weren't recognized as valid targets. Shouldn't this be something IRE fixed in the Rapture engine that every game can upgrade?

I always wanted one of those spider poppits.

I think I have one. It's like this red fuzzy thing that vibrates (don't say it) when you pull the ring on its back. I think it walks about or something. Is that a poppet, or would I know one if I saw one? It might be a Millenium Bug, see, we bought it in Italy so I have no idea.

They're from Neopets, Shiri. Which I'm sad to say that I played for three years, and actually got quite rich on.

Yeah, I gathered they were neopets the last time this turned up in the cool sigs forum ('cause he had a dodgy picture but a cool Fainy siggy), but the difference is, the dragonny one is cool, the froggy one sucks.

It's a virtual pets site that used to actually be fun, but now it's gotten overcrowded, over-commercialized, over-cutified, policed to both extremes (i.e. people scamming and swearing and screaming and getting away with it, and people having accounts frozen for absolutely no reason) and it's just not fun anymore.
