Just wondering... why has no one RPed thier view on the taint as pity? We have hatred and mistrust. How come there is no pity towards tainted people? I'll bet there was when it hit, 500 years ago.
Unknown2004-12-07 21:27:10
most people were running for their lifes or being turned into undead things so no one felt sorry for it
Unknown2004-12-07 21:31:27
Cronus pities the people who were tainted against their will.
Unknown2004-12-07 21:31:59
oooh.. You mean those who were tainted? I thought you meant felt sorry for the taint itself.
Yuniko2004-12-07 21:33:22
Why feel pity? Most of them enjoy being tainted tongue.gif biggrin.gif
Unknown2004-12-07 21:33:57
true. Viscanti is the best overall race.
Ihsahn2004-12-07 21:48:29
I doubt Tainted races would remember not being Tainted. Why not enjoy it?
Shiri2004-12-07 21:53:05
Well, while Shiri hates the taint, and has no love (although he does have respect) for those who use/follow it, my Seren has a sister in the Geomancers, and some of the first few people he met were Arilyon and Chade, who gave him a really good impression, so even though he's a bit wiser now he's a lot more forgiving and pitying towards the taint.

Actually, I've gotten a lot of crap about this. Alyvia pities those affected by the Taint. She sees those who are tainted and like it as twisted being who only know that. In fact, the city she hates is Celest, not Magnagora.

She knows that Magnagora approved of the project that released the taint, but she feels they have more than paid for their mistake. In her eyes, Celest is not suffering any consequences, they can live their normal lives, and she feels they are not doing anything to make up for what they had done.
Ihsahn2004-12-07 22:36:48
Wow, I really like that viewpoint. It's very interesting. ohmy.gif

Uh...the city of Celest, the one that released the taint, was pretty well destroyed when Princess Marilynth destroyed the first pool of stars, and it was the High Priestess of Serenwilde who enacted de facto judgement by not saving any but Lolly Pringle. I would hardly call this 'not suffering any consequences' or living 'normal lives.' And from what I can tell, Celest is so rabidly anti-taint that they generally refuse to interact politically with Magnagora, which sounds like they are doing something to make up for it.

To each their own, I guess.

ehhhh..Isn't it enough Old Celest was destroyed, and now Magnagora is woopin' ass against Celest? I mean, MAN they are takin it bad...if anything, we should pity Celest sleep.gif

You see, this is why Alyvia is not too bright. Ignorance, would be the word. Goto Old Celest and take a look around. All those souls there are the people of the Holy Empire long gone, stuck as a wandering soul on the island, unable to rest into eternity. Not paid, have they? *snort*

Now, oh mighty Alyvia in her wisdom might be more leaning toward New Celest, saying we do not pay for the mistake. Well, wrong. New Celests very existance cannot be at peace until the Taint is vanquished from the Basin, and it's we there who live to fight it back. We could go into some pretty good detail on how we do it and why, but I'm going to give Alyvia a little more credit and say she can observe her surroundings. *g*

Generally those who RP pity towards anyone get bad reactions from the populace. Pity is generally reserved for those you care about, not those you pretend to care about.
Roul2004-12-08 04:28:28
Well, I don't understand why anyone would pity a Tainted One. Most are Viscanti, of any of the lesser races, but now a powerful being who heals insanely while in tainted land. The Taint is a lifebringer, a protector, and a beacon of hope. smile.gif

The members of other races.. the ones who've embraced the taint.. Might be pitied by the Viscanti, but that's only because they are not embodying the essence of it. However, most of the other races in the city are generally undead. By choice. So that's welcomed.

We pity those who refuse to see the "light" and follow us.
Faethan2004-12-08 04:31:33
I think Faethan would pity a Viscanti who joined Celest or Serenwilde, but would have no sympathy for one in Magnagora.
Daganev2004-12-08 06:57:52
welll... I just...

PITY D'FOOL!

Daganev. The Mister T. grizzly bear of lusternia.
Unknown2004-12-08 08:41:53
I think this answered your question. I stated that I RP pity, and that makes my char not bright.

And in her mind, Celest is at least in the right mind to try to fix what they have done and they wont have paid for what they did until the Taint is -gone-.

In her mind, Magnagora is so twisted from the Taint, that they don't remember what it was like without it. She knows some people are just power hungry, but believes most are victims.

This is actually very ballsy RP for a Lisae, as Lisaera despises Viscanti.
Thorgal2004-12-08 09:40:05
And that's probably why Alyvia closes her eyes for every crime Magnagora commits towards Serenwilde, cause they're pitiful and don't know any better...they're just victims, let them have their little fun...
