The anime excuse for "Beyond the Gate" (I still think they should have put Tobira no Mukou E at the end of the series) was pathetic.

Really, really bad.
I kinda want to read the anime now, buuut...meh.

Don't. I'm sure ShoPro, ADV or Tokyopop are going to pick up the licenses somewhat soon, and it's much better to wait 1-2 months for an entire volume than the 1-2 months I have to wait for 1-2 chapters to be scanlated.

The anticipation I feel is as such I could probably rip my hair out just waiting.

The thing with the way the anime ended was, you couldn't have expected it. You couldn't have expected what the gate was, and it explained the 'force' behind alchemy to a degree, which was something that bugged me from the beginning.

I think they could have done it significantly better, perhaps, but given they were diverging the endindings of the manga and anime (probably because the anime was being animated at more speed than the mangaka could write and draw each chapter), it was to be expected.

I still can't stand what they did with the Flame of Recca Anime in comparison to the manga. Left halfway in the middle with a rushed together ending. But it least it had one, unlike Kare Kano *goes on a murderous rampage after remembering that he paid for each and every dvd of that series and what he got for it*.

I sort of gave up after two episodes of Flame of Recca because it was just THAT BAD. :/
Unknown2005-04-25 23:17:01
Where do you find the latest manga scanlations? All I can find is up to when Hohenheim comes baaaaaaaack...
Unknown2005-04-25 23:19:10
Last place I saw with the most updated ones was Anime-Source, they have a mangaserver. But now that I think about it, FMA was pulled because it was licensed. I think ShoPro got it now that I think about it.

The place I grabbed that picture from has some chapters in the 30 range, that's about it. I should probably check Manga-jouhou to see if they've got any listed, though I am not sure if they list liscensed manga.
Unknown2005-04-25 23:24:52
Real quick, Evil_Genius is still scanlating it. It was liscensed by Viz/ShoPro. Toriyamaworld may still be scanlating it, but it's moving at a snail's pace if it is. If you want to grab some of the scanlations, just throw evil_genius into google and you should get the channel and server.

I think in general I like the anime better than the manga (I've read the manga up to the latest it was at shortly before it was licensed...), in terms of characters and things, but I'm pretty sure the ending in the manga's going to be better than the anime... (I did like all the Barry the chopper stuff (On a vaguely related note, I realised recently that my optometrist's name is Barry Tucker, which made me go blink.gif for a second... I think I've been watching it too much. But that's weird, it's like a cross between Barry the Chopper and Shou Tucker fear.gif) and the way they handled Hughes though).

Can't wait for the movie though, I've seen all sorts of pictures for it that have made me go w00t.gif, but I won't say what they were of because they were kinda spoilery.

LYFE!!

Who would have thought that FILLER episodes of Naruto will be better then normal ones? At least the thing that's going on now, and at least when compared to, for example, Naruto vs Kimimaro (boring as hell).

Waiting for people to lynch me for illegal necromancy practising.

Hmm, what can I say?

Well, for me, I felt a lot of the filler episodes were actually sort of.. not so much bad as, not as good or a little bit on the annoying side. While it is nice to see a departure from everything I've known was going to happen for the last 3-4 months, it's unsettling as I notice the subtle differences in mood/execution from original works and filler episodes. Also, sometimes I want to really see certain things happen, and filler manages to wave itself in front of me in a taunting manner at just such occasions.

Perhaps it is a personal irritation I have due to having already experienced the story 'as was intended.' But filler eps in things like Naruto and Inu Yasha for example have never been quite up to par for me. Perhaps it even has to do with the fact that I'm 99% sure that the things that occur during the filler eps will never be touched upon again in a series.

Meh whatever, anyone elses thoughts?

Appleseed's the newest good anime I picked up.

Flame of Recca is a huge favorite... I love it. Don't see what was "bad" with it

and lastly... Akira. Mmm love his bike.

Oh yeah, Esca gets honorable mention for the flying scenes.

Record of Lodoss War and Inuyasha are favorites too.

Waiting for Full Metal Alch to show up at my house.

and Akira was the very first anime I ever saw *sway* I still love the bike.

Wow! Lots of anime fans! Alrighty.. here's my list..

1) Anything by Ghibli wub.gif
2) Subtitled Sailor Moon (All of it..seen every little bit and even read most of the manga... japanese version is -so- much better. Americans tried way to hard to make them all seem so stupid..In Japan they all have brains!)
3) Excal Saga (The anime is good but the manga pwns it. They tried way to hard with the anime and I loves the manga so much more. I even based my achaean character after Excel!)
4) Oh My Goddess (It's so pretty you have to love it. The manga is even better though lots of stuff they couldn't fit into the series)
5) Fruits Basket (Story line is very neat, but the manga still pwns the anime)
6) Ceres: Celestial Legend (is that the right title..m'not sure.. I've got the box set, but its too serious for me..)
7) Tokyo Mew Mew (manga pwns.. the anime is very very bad..)
8) Chobits (don't watch the anime unless almost seeing boobies turns you on... All it is is a huge fan service. Manga is much much better. >_< They oughta be ashamed for screwing up that anime so bad.)

I have lots of other mangas that I probably forgot the name of.. since my lack of money and so on I can't buy as many as I want. Gimme a million dollars.. I'll blow it on manga.

I want your collection, Akraasiel. wub.gif and yes Manga is so much better then anime.
Shiri2005-06-03 05:15:22
Ayashi no Ceres was AWFUL. The anime was, anyway. :/ Excel Saga seems like it's trying too hard, yes. It's not as funny as I heard. sad.gif

read the manga.. it's a lot better and you can actually understand what they are saying when they're talking really fast..
Shoshana2005-06-03 06:37:17
Awww I like the anime of Excel Saga, and I've read a couple of the manga too... I'm just really bad at following action in mangas, I need it all animated in front of me to be able to tell what's going on... So something like Gravitation which is all relationships and stuff is fine wub.gif but Excel Saga can get a little too confusing for me dunno.gif
