To lazy after I qued them out to put them in ordr... I watch anime when I can, something that is good and not 10bajillion episodes long (at 70 episode and the story should end, there is only so long you can hack people up or save the world before it gets repeditive *coughdragonballzcough*). Any suggestions?? Thanks!

Yeah, can never go wrong with Haruhi.

There is very little that's as fun as Haruhi Suzumiya sadly, at least not in the same way. You could try Tengen Toppa Gurren-Lagann though.

I've found Full Metal Panic! fun recently.

Avatar I understand calling anime, but Samurai Jack?
Ah, whatever. The Japanese, being the weird folk they are, call ALL cartoons anime. And apparently all mechanical devices are Mecha too.

Anyway. If you're not afraid of people giving you weird stares for watching a Mahou Shojo show, try Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha. It starts as a pretty standard, if well-done, Magical Girl series, but at about episode 10 of the 1st season it gets really awesome and... doesn't really stop after that. It's to magical girl shows what TTGL is to super robot shows.

Fullmetal Panic! is a very good show. Like... everything by Studio Kyoto, at least from what I've seen so far. It needs another season though. Second Raid's plot could be condensed into a single episode, so it lags behind the light novels.

Other stuff I suggest: FLCL if you like weird things. Also Excel Saga, with the same criteria - although FLCL has a deeper meaning, and Excel Saga is just a hilariously funny parody of... practically everything. And you have to see Neon Genesis Evangelion - you may like it or not, but you HAVE to know what it is about.
Doman2008-08-19 10:31:04
Seen all of them except the magical girl one. End of Evangelion was so weird, with the fapping...
Unknown2008-08-19 13:26:25
That's probably the most offensive part of End of Evangelion (as a huge middle finger towards the "fans" who sent Anno death threats and so on...), but nowhere near the weirdest one.

I liked Nanoha, all three seasons of it. While the first two where best to me it is probably one of better mahou shojou series out there.

I was tired and thought the thread name for a second was "Favorite animal" It's probably the groundhog.
Kharaen2008-08-19 14:41:16
Neither Avatar or Samurai Jack are anime. I get surprised every time I hear them referred as such. If the first language it's put out in is English, then it should be referred to as 'animation'.

I'm incredibly partial to Haruhi Suzumiya. I need someone to show me something as deep and fun as that

Welcome to the NHK!

So spring pretty much wrapped up last weekend. The ending to Code Geass was pretty satisfying, Macross too.

You guys watching anything for Fall?
Bael2008-10-02 19:26:43
Are they talking about a third Code Geass?

I'm too lazy to do my own research.

I think the second season of Gundam 00 is announced to start this autumn. Totally waiting for some more mecha action. biggrin.gif

I still love my Rurouni Kenshin mangas to death.

Man, Lunar is taking its sweet time on Macross, I wanna see it. sad.gif

While waiting for Autumn I've been watching Narutaru, which is hilarious if only because the premise and OP are so misleading (girl finds harmless-looking pokemon thing, goes back to find a bunch of other people have them and are using them for torture, mutilation, poisoning, terrorism).
Unknown2008-10-03 02:04:34
omg! I saw Narutaru at an anime convention a while ago, but forgot about it. Thanks for reminding me now smile.gif I miss anime!
Shiri2008-10-03 02:08:04
Hilariously misleading Narutaru OP, clearly designed to confuse children and their parents before traumatising them with
the image of a girl suffering a traumatic psychic attack involving the experience of falling out of the sky and splattering on the ground, resulting in her collapsing twitching and vomiting on the classroom floor.

Not sure if anyone mentioned Code Geass , but Code Geass is awesome!

Code Geass's theme of drama with Britana versus the 11's reminds me of Celest versus the taint in a way. Dysolis could definitely relate to Zero in many many many points.

Arise! wink.gif

I used to think Code Geass was just another mecha show, but it's actually awesome, so exhilarating. Reminds me of Death Note. OST is great as well.

I finally saw Lucky Star too, and even though I had a moment of doubt when I saw the opening for the first time (moe moe), it was worth sticking to it. Not as funny as I thought it'd be, although parody moments made me rofl real good - Initial D one was just perfect, there was 24 spoof too. laugh.gif
And in OVA, Kagami waking up from her Cinderella dream. laugh.gif

Read all GANTZ manga, 300 chapters in 2 evenings... I don't really know what makes it so great, it doesn't even make much sense - but it's so absorbing. Maybe it's seinen-like characters.

As far as bad stuff goes - KARAS. Waste of time.

Oh yeah, and True Tears. It's one of those melancholic romance/drama shows - obligatory piano in the background, slow narration etc. It's pretty good, but nothing special about it.

Are you guys watching anything or is there a reason this thread went dead?

I don't seek it out as much anymore, but I watch any series that pops up on netflix streaming. The Count of MC remake was absolutely amazing. Some other ones I'll look at when I get home that were good.
