Trigun is really the only anime that left any real huge impression on me. Is it any surprise, then, that I find myself liking Desert Punk more and more?

Higurashi, which I've been watching with mild interest, hasn't turned me off with anime cliches yet. Much unlike the God-awful Naruto anime. The manga was tolerable, but the anime? No.

I prefer manga to anime. Black Cat and GinTama are where it's at in that department. (Yeah, I know...still reading Shonen Jump at my age...Hey, the Trigun manga was awesome.)

I like Desert Punk. It has boobs.
Karel2009-08-07 14:19:16
Gratuitous, gigantic breasts. You can't beat the dungeon scene. XD
Joli2009-08-07 14:21:29
Just the ending song makes my day.
Karel2009-08-07 14:23:28
Start with one circle...

That one, or one of the others?

Yes, that one. With the massive jiggly tits at the end.

Funny how you seem to have a better memory for the breasts than I do. I recall no such mammories at the end of that song.

Omg. I love Kyoko.

And I'm surprised you didn't list sailor moon. I have all 200 episodes! biggrin.gif

Boys...

Personally, I love everything I've seen of Hayao Miyazaki. That man is a genius.

Kara no Kyoukai is good. 1, 3 and 6 are stand-alone episodes, they're ok but nothing special. But 2 and 4 are more interesting as they deal with characters' history. 5 is the only one real movie (something like 2 hours long) and it's well done.
Now I'm just pissed cause the most interesting part of the story is episode 7 (continuation of 2) and it's gonna be like half a year or so till it's out subbed (I think).
Shiri2009-08-10 16:31:35
Kara no kyoukai makes no sense to me, I just watch it for the shiny. Also the buddhist guy is pretty cool, even though his gimmick makes no sense (so...he's also a house that has something to do with stillness and built a weird revolving staircase mainly to screw with dead people so someone (him? who knows) can achieve unity with their origin, whatever that menas?)

Cromartie High. In very close second, FLCL.
Unknown2009-08-10 21:16:54
Going by what I own in totality I suppose I'd have to say Ghost in the Shell SAC, Ergo Proxy, Big O, and Kino's Journey would rank as my favorites, with Cowboy Bebop, Wolf's Rain, and FLCL thrown in in no particular order. Mushishi is fairly interesting as well.
Unknown2009-08-11 00:15:03
Ohai dere anime thread. I've been rather neglectful of anime recently, I'm afraid.

In no particular order...

Kara No Kyoukai = Epic
Desert Punk = Hilarious
First half of Death Note - very interesting and cool
Cowboy Bebop (omgawesomeIluvitsomuch)
Serial Experiments Lain - Integration of the "collective unconscious" theory by tying it in with the internet.
Bleach - Just because it continues to be decent, and with good plot, and still develop, despite its many many episodes.
Tengen Toppa Gurren-Lagann - It was silly, easy to watch, and rather inspiring at points.

I'll leave it at this for now.

Does Digimon count? It's the only thing I've ever watched that could classify as 'anime'.

It is anime by the technical definition. And some of it isn't half bad.
Unknown2009-08-11 04:25:58
Gurren Lagann is the best anime ever!

Most people don't realize the immense amount of symbolism in the series unfortunately. It easily has more symbolism than Neon Genesis Evangelion did, but it hides it much better, so most people think they're watching something else.
