Okay, I managed to get BitLord (see, I TOLD you it was better) to let me download one file out of a torrent at a time (SWEET) so I got to watch Witch Hunter Robin episode 1. And it started out good, then got boring, then went good again. But it's episode 1 so I'll give it more of a chance. And then maybe I'll be able to get FMA without having to beat my head on a wall from infuriating D/L slowness. (5kb/s? WTF!)
Shiri2005-02-17 17:36:04
Episodes 2-3 were okay too. But now my sound's gone I can't really watch anymore. By the way though...does anyone else think, having D/Led it from www.bleachportal.net or anything, that the full version of Bleach's "Asterisk" is a lot worse than the TV version? Meh.

Carp, I'm gonna miss InuYasha again today!! T_T Going to watch Ong Bak...but still I want to SEE IT! CATS VS DOGS OMG SO KEWL!

Bah, poor fools, watching craptastic anime. Manga is where the good stuff is. If it isn't on a page, it isnt worth looking at. I cant tell you how many times an anime has taken a great manga and made it into . Only rarely does it ever get better in the transition. On that note, Im off to reread my complete set of BOTI (Blade of the Immortal is awesome beyond belief.)

Psh, you're just jealous. Anyway, argh, I'm screwed, they're putting a limit on my downloading, something pathetic like half a gig a week :/ Nooo. ...that's like....2 episodes. *mutter* But at least my bandwidth's doubling. Or quadrupling. Or something. I might be able to STOP LAGGING OUT from the wireless network! :/
Shoshana2005-02-19 15:03:33
Yeah, Witchhunter Robin's good, although it only develops a real storyline after the first 10 episodes or so. The first ones are pretty cool, they're just very episodic...
Naruto's licensed now, so it's harder to get hold of it . I'm annoyed because I was downloading 75-100 and the torrent had taken about a month to get to 83%, and now it's down and all that time was wasted .
I read quite a bit of manga (although most of it tends to be of the yaoi doujinshi variety, seeing as that's easy to get hold of on the net ). Have read about half of Akira, spread out enough that I had even less idea of what was going on than normal , some Ranma 1/2 and I own 1-6 of Gravitation . Yeah, I'm a yaoi-fangirl, so sue me . Oh! And I read the FMA manga as well, that was kinda strange. Good, but still felt like an alternate universe (although really I guess the anime is technically the alternate universe).

Best yaoi manga ever? Love Mode, hands down.
I am a manga freak. I have roughly two tons of manga stored in various places, and about 30 gigs (and ever growing) on my hard drive. One can never have too much Manga. I decided one day to read my entire collection. Two months later I gave up on reading it all. Yakitate is good stuff, but Id have to say my favorite of all time would be... 20th Century Boys...talk about a major mindfuck.
Also on my list of good Manga:
Shounan Jun'ai Gumi
Eternal Sabbath
Angel Sanctuary (Kaori Yuki is awesome, Im a total AS fanboy... Setsuna is the greatest character ever)
Parfait Tic
Kimagure Orange Road
Kodomo no Omocha
Flame of Recca
Psychometer Eiji
Majin Devil
Count Cain (Another one by Kaori Yuki)
Cruel Fairytale (Yet another Kaori Yuki)
Bloodhound (More Kaori Yuki)
Kaine (Still more Kaori Yuki)
Boys Next Door (Did I mention I liked the works of Kaori Yuki?)
Blade of the Immortal
Beck (Harold Sakushi is my second favorite Mangaka...next to, you guessed it, Kaori Yuki)
Samuri X (meh, the anime didnt butcher it TOO badly)
Gunnm
Ghost in the Shell
Hajime no Ippo
Monster
(I could list more, but the list is already getting a bit long. total % of collection listed- 2%)

'specially when I said ten. But what the heck? Flame of Recca sucked! :/ (And that's the one I DID read the manga of. :/)

I think I just saw my favorite episode of GITS. THose blue robots, that don't look like people gained individuality, but link with eachother to share information. I think I was cracking up the whole time with the philosphy babble they were spewing.
Shoshana2005-02-20 13:55:25
TACHIKOMA! . And even with my very limited knowledge of the workings of computers I can tell that the technobabble in GitS is mostly complete . But it certainly has style
*looks down the long list of manga* Aha! I've got Boys Next Door in amongst all the yaoi doujinshi somewhere, if I remember correctly... Any chance of being able to get some of that stuff on your hard drive off you? I'll trade you... umm... well... I have a lot of very pretty boys doing interesting things to each other, and random (most of it very good) anime. And a whole lot of wallpapers and other random pictures to do with almost every anime/manga I've ever seen/read.

I dont soil my eyes with Anime. The doujins Ill take you up on, though I doubt you have something I dont already have. If it is posted on the net, I likely already have it, unless youve imported and scanned it recently. Im so pissed though, I bought a box of doujins for cheap, advertised as yaoi... was only a heap of shonen-ai gags. Bah.
Favorite yaoi doujin- Setsuna X Kira Sakuya (angel sanctuary) *drool* (No I'm not gay, I like women too. I am a non descriminatory deviant.)

Akraasiel2005-02-22 15:05:06
I need more yaoi with non bishie men... *weep*

Gotta love those emoticons.

It does. And don't ask what yaoi is. And nobody tell him if he doesn't know.

Didnt you know? People becoming giant mutant babies, stuffed with circuitry, and little midget people with psychic powers are an artform. Still bloody good, methinks. Of course, I dont believe I've ever watched it when I wasnt dead tired, so that could be influencing me. But I doubt it. I hope. Mebbe. I'll never forget the giant teddy that bled milk.

What was impressive about Akira was that it was a first.
I was basically the first animated movie to use concepts such as camera depth of field and other movie making techniques that is normally just not done in an animated feature.

Gasp, Shiri, SKIPPING OUT ON LOVE HINA?!
Love Hina is so great. I own the box set and plan on rewatching it someday. My friends have associated me with Mutsumi. I'm not a huge fan of watermelons, but you know, the narcolepsy (kidding.) But you need to watch it in Japanese also, because it's ten times as funny and not as edited (like the part where all the girls are holding up dishes, and one of them, who I can't remember, goes "Or perhaps you'd like to eat me ! *giggle*")
And I've only seen one or two people mention Record of Lodoss War. Seriously, go watch it. It's so good.
I feel like I need to see Akira, for I never have.

Shou, Yaoi is like the first bloom of spring, a droplet crashing away from the waterfall, the first ray of the sun after the rain. This is yaoi. Oh, and boy love.
Shoshana2005-02-23 12:48:55
*goes into lecture mode* Yaoi is a shortening of YAma nashi, Ochi-nashi, Imi-nashi, which translates into "No climax, no point, no meaning", which basically is the Japanese equivalent of PWP (Plot, What Plot?). It's sometimes said to be an acronym of "Yamete! Oshiri ga itai!" which means "Stop! My arse hurts!". You get the idea. If it's not explicit, it's usually called shounen-ai or BL, which is short for Boy Love. It's mostly drawn/read by women, but there are plenty of exceptions *grin Akraasiel*.
You've read FAKE, right? The guys in that aren't very bishounen-ish... I have the first part of it in Spanish, but not English (I can't even read Spanish, it's a long story why I have it...). Don't think I have anything else though, I like my boys pretty .
There, that wasn't so bad, was it, Shiri?

Anything from from Studio Ghibli. (I have the box set of his collected works up to Monoke on DVD with English Subs)
Songs of the Heart and My Neighbor Totoro are both exceptional.
Kiki is also very good.
Graveyard of the Fireflies is one of the best films made period(animated or otherwise).
Perfect Blue was nice.
Cowboy Bebop = great.
I liked S.E. Lain.
I loved Boogiepop Phantom, even though I found it hard to follow.
For music, I like anything done by Yoko Kanno.
I had been enjoying a Japanese Dorama until the 2nd disc had the same audio as the 1st disc. Not that it mattered, the subtitles were terrible. I could have a done a better job, and I don't speak Japanese!
I still have a soft spot for the older anime. Cheers for Lupin and Macross!
