You make me wish I had made lots of alts just before the giveaway...
Daganev2004-12-11 09:03:53
I tend to buy enough credits to trans my trade skill and get somewhere in another skill that I like and use my gold from my trade skill to buy more credits.
Unknown2004-12-11 09:11:40
I've never spent a cent on credits, and I've never transed and skill in Achaea or Lusternia. Fortunantely in Lusternia the credits are cheaper, so I think I might be able to trans Nihilism.
Karielle2004-12-11 09:28:46
Never bought any credits OOC either, and Lusternia is the first time I've actually reached Master in anything. Hail the 75 credits at the end of open beta.

Yeah, I made an alt to map the newbie areas, never registered. Poor me
. Happy with the 75 nonetheless. (never did the maps, either, heh).

Uhm, I bought 500 oocly and bought a lot with gold..thanks to my well-going herbs. *hugs herbs*

I've not yet been able to afford credits IC on any IRE game. Managed to get all skills transed in Achaea and buy a few fun artifacts. So far, I'm transed in my trade skill in Lusternia and bought an arti pack. Scripting is fun, but sometimes it helps purchase other things which I find even more fun!
(I thought that transferring IC-obtained credits from one character to another was against the rules, or at least frowned upon, as it's basically a loophole. I know in Achaea it's a severely punishable offense.)

I get them through various random means, last time I bought credits OOC was when Aetolia opened, and in total I've bought 340 credits on every char I've ever had.
It's just easy to make them other ways, Chade is trans 5 skills, fabled in another, and gifted-virtuoso in almost every other skill without me spending a penny in Lust.
Gold is good, apply to guide, win competitions, etc. Plus when I live in China and earn £96 per month, I can't afford to buy credits with real money.

I tend to buy them mostly ingame with gold from my neverending Astral bashing but I have bought about 1.2k of them with real money too. Looking at making a big purchase when they feel like letting me have a web dodging artifact.
*urge*

Credits credits. Well, when I first got onto Lusternia I had to get em OOC.. Good sales and newbie bonus first time around! Couldn't resist, I am weak! Well, now that the sales are..over, it was nice to get the free75 credits but other than that it's weevil, weevil, and rat. *sniffle* I miss em sales, so many skills I have yet to get!

why would you ever spend more than 50 dollars on any text game? really. i'd like to know
Aris2004-12-15 07:11:02
Think of an IRE game like a Video Game platform.
Most people, when buying a game platform, have to buy games to keep the platform enjoyable.
Initial purchase of platform (or starting credits)- roughly 200 bucks. That's a good deal of credits to get initiated with.
Eventually, things will slow, you'll want an artifact, or just wanna trans something else (new game)-another 40 bucks.
It goes like that for a while, especially if you like the game.

You've obviously never been addicted to an IRE game.
Iridiel2004-12-15 09:27:22
People usually give me computer games as gifts (birthday, christmas, random gift day) but nobody wants to buy me crediiiits!!
Daganev2004-12-15 10:44:44
I can't wait for teh results from the map contest to really give a nice influx of credits to the game.
Gwylifar2004-12-15 14:08:11
You spend more money if you get more enjoyment from it enough to justify the money. I don't see why there'd be some magic number (50) where that'd universally stop, nor why the medium matters (some people prefer text, after all, just as some people read books more than watch movies).

There's no Master skillrank in other IRE Muds
Shoshana2004-12-15 14:15:15
I agree with Daganev... I think people are starting to realise that it is much easier to get credits in game in this place than in the other IRE games because of all the tradeskills (At least, I'm making far more money than I've ever made before
) and so there aren't as many people buying credits OOC as there were before they realised this, so the prices are going up. It will be nice when the map results come out and people have more credits to sell again!
Of course, I've never really studied economics and that's just my crackpot theory that I've come up with, it's probably completely wrong or something
