Problem with Lusternia is that you need a lot of gold for your day to day (as everything is sold by people, who has to buy commodities wich are expensive, and things decay faster than in other IRE Muds).
So, you need gold, you put your credits at the higher possible price that they will sell, so the price rises.

Fine, I've never been past Adept.
Kinda proves my point, me not knowing the skillrank after.

Argh. I left Achaea mainly because of the high credit prices (they're getting up to like 6K now, crazy!). It looks like Lusternia will follow the same footsteps, so don't expect me to stay there too long.High credit prices only benefit those who buy credits OOC, or already have a "high" character in Lusternia. I have/do neither. I'm too poor to buy OOC credits. I now I don't need "credits > lessons > new abilities" to survive, and I like RPing. But not having much kind of limits you somehow. Meh, I dunno.
Iridiel2004-12-16 14:28:37
Guild credits, City credits, contests, guiding. Lots of ways of getting credits.

There will ALWAYS be people selling it for cheaper prices, guild, friends and family, city, occasional market, etc. Even in Achaea there's still occasions where people bought creds for 2K. Just save your money and grab the opportunity when it arises.
Maedhros2004-12-18 19:56:38
Riyo won about 250 credits worth of lessons from the casino. I won 30 lessons there (go me!).
Uhh, Riyo bought me about 200.

exactly...i quit imperian because i have to pay 2800 gold for credits, i quit achaea for the same reason. spoiled brats need to just stop spending 1000 dollars on credits than jacking the prices up. not everyone has money to blow on real life credits. "it's a privilege not a right!!!" ... shut up.
Gol2004-12-20 16:10:54
The only reason credit prices could rise, is if people have more gold to buy them with, and are willing to pay more. The price of credits isn't really related to peopel buying them ooc, besides when someone buys bulk and sells cheap. I've known people to get three trans skills just with gold bought credits. How? Easy, they bash alot. It's not a matter of 'Oh but only those with high chars can do well' or 'only those who buy credits oocly do well' it's a matter of those who put in effort.
EDIT: I've got characters with virt weaponry and decent guildskills on other games with no ooc credits bought for them. There's no reason you can't do well without
And 2800 gold is... not much. One round of sewer critters is worth 6 lessons. Think how much you'd bash to level, how much gold ya get. It really is just a matter of how much effort you are willing to put in. Since other people use their hard earned cash for credits, why the hell should they sell them to someone for what you deem a reasonable amount?

at low levels it isn't that easy. and 2800 gold is a lot for a low level.
Iridiel2005-01-13 11:47:31
At low levels is easier to get money. Just go to the top of smoke mountain, and massively kill finks and gnomes and sell the corpses. You can also lose some influence battles to stay under level 20.
I never had so much money as when I was a novice there.

Yeah, I quit Achaea because the credit prices where around 4500gp, and now I think they're at least 5500gp . And now Lusternia is getting up to almost 4000gp, and shows no sign of decreasing.
But, I believe that people should be able to spend $1000s on credits, but the IC credit market needs some more control. Also, credit prices don't rise because people have more gold to toy around with, the rise because it's just the way the system works. Like, if the current credit market looks something like this:
1 at 1999
11 at 2000
100 at 2200
The two lower prices will be snatched up pretty quickly, so the next person who decides to sell credits will sell them around at least 2150, which would be the new minimum, and thus the minimum credits price has risen.
Unknown2005-01-14 04:02:11
The good people at Lusternia still have to make their money and cover the costs of this game so I really don't hold it against them that they allow kids to spend $1000 on credits. I've personally only spent $50 Australian (what's that, like, $2.95 USD? ) but if someone wants to spend their whole paycheck, well, that's up to them.
Bug people in your city/guild for events with credits as the prizes. Submit an idea for your own competition (the standard 'who can gain the most power' event is popular) where city/guild credits are up for grabs to to the three people who bring in the most. Not only will this give you the chance to gain credits for nothing but your time, but you may even be favoured by your city/guild for spuring the idea which creates good morale.

Imperian was able to keep credit market credits the cheapest, for the longest period of time, by tossing in a good gold sink now and then. Namely artifact auctions. I pray those show up in Lusternia.
For those of you who don't know, an artifact auction is where they create special artifacts just for the auction, that cannot be purchased elsewhere. These unique one of a kind items, are then sold to the highest bidder. Some artifacts are bid on with credits, some are bid on with gold. It tends to make the credit market dip from 2.6k average, down to 1.5k or less, in the week leading up to the auction.

ahh right... yeah those auctions were damn cool.
*nudge Estarra*
and the prices where crazy, especially when I saw one person buy 5 of those artifacts in one auction. (you just know he was a representive of some shady people)
god bless the unique artifact auction.

Wonder if I'd get shrubbed for converting currency to buy credits in, if there was actually any profit in that at all (has to look into it).
Daganev2005-01-19 10:11:55
Its possible to make a profit, but your better off actually trading money, takes out the middle man.

And look what happened
I bought 1k credits OOC and probably 300 credits IC. At this point in the game credit prices arent so high, it's fully feasible to trans a skill or two or even save up and buy an artifact(s?)

Try to get 2k for cubix IC!
