I think it's a good idea to be able to turn the quest ones on and off. Would let those who want little known about them, to keep thinsg secretive, and those who want to brag, be able to show off.

I do like Iggy's idea of adding for event specific lines. It's part of history, and should be see able.

What is this 'notables' thing? A command from the other IRE games?

Dunno about Aetolia, but in Achaea 'help notables' was a list of... well, notable people. Guildmasters, city founders, people who'd accomplished lots of things, or just particularly... uh... notable things. Borknagar was listed for stealing the contents of Shallam's coffers and fleeing to Ashtan. Gijan was listed for I think the first three-way Achaean marriage (well, I know someone was, and I know Gijan was listed for something, anyway).

Though, the list stopped being updated at around the lear 200, and recently it was just done away with altogether.

Notables list is quite hard to update, especially once it gets lengthy. But nonetheless are nice.

Like everyone said, there should be a way to CONFIG QUESTS ON/OFF on there so the quests won't show up. Just like CONFIG FULLNAME ON/OFF.

Good Honors Lines are like "First Secretary of the Geomancers" (Me! ohyeah.gif)

Yeah, and I need some extra lines as well. I have acomplished far more things than many people realize.

He has had his entrails ripped out by more Serenwilders than you can likely count, for example.

If that's the case, I'd surely love to have the "Original Serenguard Secretary" added, heh.

Honors lines means something I think to the people who take the pains to actually accomplish them and that not everyone takes the time to do. Its like completing different stories within the game and its really quite fun to be involved on that level and be recognized.
Unknown2004-12-11 04:35:40
Honours is meant to show a brief little resume of a char......thats why its the.....work with me......honours command. If people dont want to get screen scrolled with information why are they using the command in the first place?

Its the same as people complaining about global shouts or the city channel when it gets a bit crazy or wierd, shut it off or dont use the command. Simple.

And for those who hate the duel honors, the ones where you both help and hurt the honours mobs its not as cut and dried as people just trying to grab honours titles for the sake of titles, especially if the person has switched cities and shifted his chars alignment up or down. Yea that looks odd but nothing to be done about that.

Maybe when you complete a quest the gods could set it so you get a line that says YOU HAVE GAINED A NEW HONOUR ACCEPT/DECLINE. Would be good for those whod dont want it auto tagged to their char.

I just don't believe that performing a quest entails your character 'believing' in it, or some such.

And, when I honors myself (private clans, etc.), 31 lines long...

I'll weigh in with those who favor few, but meaningful, honors lines. In other realms, having a huge amount of quest honors just meant you were quest savvy at best, and it was the custom lines that really added to your character.

I think the route to go is just to be picky about what honors you attempt. Having a few lines that compliment your RP is, I think, best. Then again, I sometimes miss introduction systems and feel that being able to honors someone at all is unnecessarily out of character. It's really just simulating your interaction with other people and the knowleadge and hearsay gained thereof, by which token we're all apparently gossipmongers.

Those lines wouldn't make much sense, because when several Secretaries get appointed at once at the beginning, only one would get the title. Regardless, it would be cool to have them.
Karrah2004-12-12 02:29:49
True, but I was the first chosen Geomancer. Lord Raezon later asked me for my opinion on who should be appointed next. So I stand as THE first. wink.gif
Niara2004-12-13 10:05:16
I like honours lines as long as it won't get as much as in Achaea. I don't care for them for myself, I generally dislike quests, but I also understand that when you solved a long and complicated quest and the line gets added that you are quite proud of yourself, and rightly so.
I hope we will get something like the notables file. I just hope it will get updated more often than in Imperian. While a lot of people were added there during the first months nothing really every happened there later on. Surely it will get lengthy over time but hey, that's life and that is how it should be as there will be many people who had an impact on the world.
Hiriako2004-12-13 15:24:59
In Aetolia it was updated twice, I think. People always said mine was too short...but it's not changed often, and sometimes will contain incorrect data:

"...is the current guildmaster of the Luminaries."

HELP LUMINARIES

Guildmaster: Iereas

(Dunno if that is the present state, it was last time I was on Aetolia).
Chade2004-12-13 18:11:37
Honours lines aren't too bad, but they can get stupidly long, Chade has a couple, not a massive amount, and isn't likely to get more.

I still want my "He was the first Emperor of Magnagora in Modern Times" honours line, but meh, won't do me much good for the next six-seven RL months.

It should. Really, it should. Questing for xp is harder to justify than bashing for xp. Killing everything in sight is going to make you stronger, but having both sides of an honor quest's outcomes is just bad form. I remember Achaea's lines on the Maim quests. I can think of ten people off hand who both killed her and helped her. Dubya tee eff, man? Why'd ya kill her then go play messenger boy?
Unknown2004-12-15 00:32:49
Because you -really- don't care about her either way, and wanted the gold wink.gif.

Edit: This is quite simply, my character's thoughts on the many quests. You have gold? I'll help you. You'll strike a deal with my City? I'll help you. I -don't- care about you, in any way. The 'quest' is merely a means to an end. Estelbar's cubs need their daily pills, the actors in the Countess of Stewartsville's Mansion have their murder mystery every few days (they have to be actors, no one would be -that- stupid), and the orcs continually fight between themselves for supremacy. Everything's IC, and all my character cares about is the gold changing hands.
