Edit: This is quite simply, my character's thoughts on the many quests. You have gold? I'll help you. You'll strike a deal with my City? I'll help you. I -don't- care about you, in any way. The 'quest' is merely a means to an end. Estelbar's cubs need their daily pills, the actors in the Countess of Stewartsville's Mansion have their murder mystery every few days (they have to be actors, no one would be -that- stupid), and the orcs continually fight between themselves for supremacy. Everything's IC, and all my character cares about is the gold changing hands.

I don't think these are the opposing quests being referred to (as none of the village quests really oppose another quest). I think they're talking about Glomdoring quests versus Serenwilde quests; Emperor quest versus Marilynth quest; Nomad quest versus Compound quest; etc.
And how dare you call the Stewartsville Mansion denizens stupid!

They KEEP trying to murder the Countess, after failing 8 times a month?
And opposing quests can still be possible in the future, with changing loyalties. What if a Magnagoran raises the ship, and years down the line is converted to the Light, only to want to help Marilynth un-taint the Sea?

Don't make my honors go to 32 lines, please (actually, it's down to 30 right now, after leaving a clan, and my news boards went from 17 down to 16) .

Maybe the Countess gets some sort of amusement in having assembled her enemies to murder her?
Countess -> <- murder attempts

Sure, but that's far different than doing one quest one day and the other quest the next just to get two honours.

killing the count woman?

And they keep trying, despite her being invincible?
Thorgal2004-12-16 18:05:07
I just hope there won't be 54654 honour lines for killing mobs. Those were lame in achaea. Two or three mobs okay, but they had whole pages full of honourlines for bashing.
Kaervas2004-12-18 13:58:51
I remember the days in Achaea when everyone was amazed at Shakti's honors, now it's easy as hell to get your honors bigger than hers was. Honors lines were special once, now they're pretty common (except my Planeswalker honors line, I love that one )
Gregori2004-12-18 14:55:01
I want a "he killed Crow twice" honours line to counter Visaeris' ressurecting him *sagenod*
Or barring that "he was the first to kill Crow" either or is good *grin*

There is certainly an honours line for ressurecting the White Hart; just let me kill him and i'll let you get the line

I like DOING the honours quests myself, but I don't see where anyone but the very first person that figured it out should get credit for it....the rest of us just kinda follow along behind like good little sheep *Grin*

Oh, the irony >_> Since Gregori now *does* have that honors line from the Kethuru mess.
Gwylifar2005-05-04 20:49:55
I almost had it, I had worked out the quest within a half hour of White Hart being killed, but had to wait for the full moon... by which point everyone else had come around and figured it out. Of course I didn't know it was an honors quest at the time, and wasn't after an honors line -- I was after a particular bit of character development, and had to fudge it from somewhere else when that didn't pan out.
Falasin2005-05-04 21:06:38
Personally I hate honors lines, and Falasin just seethes hatred for them. This is for one reason, the Gaudiguch and Hallifax quests, people can spend months of work on just one statue and a month or so on raising the ebony wakabi, and this can be done with just one or two people. But then any random person can come along and feed it and find the Hand, this happens, this happens a lot. They get all sort of credit for it, and there have been instances where I have done almost all of the statue layers (arguably the hardest stage) and several eggs, log off, and the next day it's finished. Personally I'm not in it at all for the honors line; Falasin is dearly in love with Gaudiguch, so any work done by outsiders should be welcomed, however one of the things he has aspired to is to hold the Hand of Tzaraziko, but has been kept from doing so from the begining (first by stepping back so that other Seekers could do it, now from random people who have no IC reason to do so, other than honors lines and from a general lack of incentive from the player end after all the times my attempts have been foiled). If I had a choice I'd have to say that the experience would be better if there weren't honors lines, you can niether judge the 'honor' of a character at all by them, nor their power. Very few people actually take the time to examine them, I assume, and in truth they really serve only to inflate the character's ego.
Meh.
Meh.

Yea, I realize how annoying that block of text is, but I don't care. Deal with it, I was in a ranting mood.
Oh, and bad, bad, necro.

Unknown2005-05-05 00:15:40
Ahh, that happened to my friend too, Falasin! Just wanting to add that in because I was incredibly pissed off because he helped me and others and when it was his turn... well... this um, I don't want to mention names, 'established' person comes along and takes it. Also personally, I like the honours line... I only do ones that make sense to my character though ('neutral' or 'good' aligned types)... I guess people could argue they'd do any quest because they just want the gold and experience because they are greedy buggers, but that's lame.
Wow this thread is very old.

Once someone sent me a letter claiming that I'd robbed the hand from someone who had supposedly been working on the quest for "years". It was funny because I did the entire quest myself.
