The Divine

Backtalking a being with nearly infinite power would be quite stupid. I think a lot of the people here say, "the gods are just people too."

RLPA? Does that stand for something, or are you just trying to sound like one of those dang hybrids from System Shock 2? tongue.gif

Although Cronus would never disagree disrespectfully with any of them, I think the Gods here have a lot more personality than in the other IRE Realms. And, (not to critizise, I think it's a good thing personally), they seem a little weaker and less omniscient. For instance, in all their power, not one of them succeeded in slaying a Soulless God, (instead most of them fled their realm of birth), and mortals succeeded in slaying them themselves, while the Elders were hiding.

A vicious physical beating by an Elder God would be hilarious. They could broadcast it, certainly much more interesting than the zapping.  wink.gif

Damn it! Why does nobody ever want to die? swear2.gif

QUOTE(Quidgyboo @ Dec 11 2004, 08:40 AM)
True true. I don't go round calling Auseklis an old fart and making jokes about His beard. I am just happy, IC, to openly disagree with Him and be reasonably disrespectful, as I am to mortals.

Who are you again? Remind me to listen more carefully.

You better not. His beard's another Divine in disguise, don't you know.

Why are people so obsessed with My beard?

It took a *lot* of vernal gods to *imprison* the soulless - they didn't actually slay them. And who says none of Us ever slew a soulless?

I think You started it!

Well, I don't know about numbers, but it does indeed sound like there was a large amount of Elder Gods.

Let's see...

Auseklis Clangorum Loboshi
Lisaera Orlachmar Dracnoris
Isune Bollikin Elfenhoala
Lacostian Xyl
Terentia Igaso
Roark Tauro
Meridian Trillillial
Mugwumpoi Krokano
Tae Aslarn

Add ten to twenty other Elder Gods still floating around in the Void, that's a considerable amount, if you take into account the fact one Elder God is deemed a lot more powerful than one Vernal God.

Well, I dunno anyway. What I was getting at, was that in other realms, the Divine could just wish the Soulless away or something. Here, it's more believable, that the Elder Gods aren't indestructable. They have relatable and changeable personalities, and they do feel fear, (even if the only thing they fear is the Soulless).
Lisaera2004-12-11 15:27:27
Here are a few facts, for accuracy:

1) There were originally hundreds of Soulless Gods, the Elder Gods slew the vast majority of these.

2) I believe only two Vernal Gods ever managed to actually defeat a Soulless alone, generally it took 10 or more of them.

3) There were hundreds upon hundreds of Vernal Gods, and 9 of them survived to the end... not a great kill-to-death ratio really.

4) The Elder Gods couldn't make more of Themselves, We're not replaceable as Vernals are.

Lastly, it wasn't My idea to run away. If I remember correctly, that was Roark. Though it didn't turn out so badly.

However, We are not all-powerful, no. We do not know everything either. From a mortal perspective, though, We know more than you ever will and are more powerful than you will ever be, so it's your decision how you want to look at it.

Most of Us do not demand respect, but the fact remains that without Us, you would be rather stuck, and without Our sacrifices in the Elder Wars in the past, most of creation wouldn't exist.

I wasn't trying to offend you.
Unknown2004-12-11 16:43:28
I dont think Ive insulted a Divine to their face yet, but I dont really think Neppy really would. She respects all Divine but doesnt agree in a lot of cases; shes not gonna walk on eggshells around them. I think Ive only 'insulted' one since the game started and I dont thinks she heard me. *dives back under her rock* If you heard it Shhhh dont tell her, shes insane. *halo*

Only one Vernal God was able to slay a Soulless alone, and that was the Aslaran Vernal God.

But I'm more correct then Lisaera. I deserve a prize.

Ah, you're right.

All right, you can have a cake. Please allow 6 to 8 centuries for delivery.
Unknown2004-12-11 23:26:26
6 to 8 centuries hmm?? Is it that ancient fruit cake stuff?
Shiri2004-12-11 23:30:52
Pff, everyone knows things in letters don't age until they reach their destination. I reckon Schroedinger's cat manages to sneak inside all the post offices and screw around with the envelopes or something.
Unknown2004-12-12 16:58:20
Imagine somehow being alive that long from now, then saying to yourself... "Oh yeah... this is the cake from Lisaera! Woo! Now I can die happy!"

I bet if all the furrikin joined together and formed one HUGE furball, we'd be able to become a furrikin Vernal God and mow over a soulless by our sheer fuzziness... and fleas, if any of us had any. Hmm... pet giant fleas...

She's not joking either. I don't know if I'll ever get that cookie I won from Her in a game of chess.
Lisaera2004-12-13 18:48:45
I have never played chess with any mortal, Hiriako. I think you are confused.
Hiriako2004-12-14 14:35:01
*ponder* Hmm...gack, aye. I think I am remembering something from another life, and fuzzy memories produce the wrong person! Either way, someone still owes a cookie.
