I like the changes. Kudos.

I think they make sense. I can understand Magnagora's frustration; however, as was pointed out to me by Bric, and I totally agree with.
It's still possible for Magnagora to own all three mining towns. It's just harder. And, given Magnagora's aptitude for brute strength, I imagine they'll be very good at just slaughtering major Celestian butt. So. Who can influence if they're dead?

The thing is when you own the three mines, raiding becomes a moot point and an era of peace begins.
I can't really give you the equation which links boredom and peace, but at one point or another we have all felt its shadowly embrace.
Anyway, it's still possible to have the three mine.. but now would it be worthy to try ?
With the new system, once the raids will begin, we'll be stuck in a loop that will be hard or expensive to break on a long term scale.

Found out reprieve was enough to influence, so as long as that stays the same, we're fine.

I bugged this already I believe, but while one can USE Diplomacy Amnesty, it doesn't translate to Amnesty status to the person you're seeking Amnesty for... ::coughs:: (that was wordy).
influence yojimbo with amnesty for Arilyon:
Summoning all your powers of negotiation, you entreat Yojimbo Buntz, the
alchemist to forgive Arilyon's trespasses and grant amnesty in the Village of
Estelbar.
Yojimbo Buntz, the alchemist spits in his palm and slaps his hand into yours, sealing the pact.
"Arilyon may peacefully conduct business with the Village of Estelbar for 6
months," Yojimbo Buntz, the alchemist says to you.
(The Iron Council): You say, "Arilyon."
(The Iron Council): Arilyon says, "Hm?"
(The Iron Council): You say, "Did you get 6 months amnesty?"
(The Iron Council): Arilyon says, "Nay."

I just tested it and it works. Perhaps your friend was confused. It still lists you as an enemy, but adds a note that you have a few months of reprieve. Maybe he just noticed that he's an enemy.
Unknown2004-12-15 00:44:08
It seems to work when you 'INFLUENCE WITH AMNESTY', but it doesn't work with 'INFLUENCE WITH AMNESTY FOR '
Just tried it again with Arilyon, getting 7 months this time (still didn't register in her STAT), and it's not worked with Helios in Mesa Compound in the past (when I initially bugged it).

You are an enemy of: Kelpies, Estelbar, Delport, Rockholm, Southgard, Angkrag,
Dairuchi, Celestia, Celest, Isune, Mesa, Faethorn.
No note. Still enemied. No reprieve..

Just to make certain it's not a problem with Arilyon's account or something different on my development server, I tried it in Estelbar for Arilyon. Worked for me. (Congrats, Arilyon; you got 5 free months.) Hmmm... Very strange!

Seems whatever you did there worked, but not sure why it won't work in game. Rexali tried on two separate occasions and while it said it worked for him, it never actually appeared on my status until you did it.

Funnily enough, I had always thought these two particular changes were a part of the system, so I was a little suprised to see they had been "Added" when I thought thats always how it was.
Nonetheless I do like them very much : )

Well, Magnagora still has a bit of advantage with being able to influence undeads.
By the way, are Stewartsville and Delport rivals? Because I never heard them talking bad about each other, and they just have one quest that makes one produce less rope that the other...

Stewartsville and Delport are not enemies, at least insofar as Acknor and Estelbar are enemies. However, they are the two human settlements that were formed when humans first arrived in Lusternia (there was a third settlement but they ignorantly chose to settle in a place shunned by all the native races and have not been heard from since). Anyway, Stewartsville and Delport are definitely economic competitors and jockey to lure the hemp farmers to their respective villages. While they may not be overtly hostile to each other, they don't consider themselves 'on the side same' and prefer not to be associated with each other politically.
Stewartsvile -> <- Delport
Estelbar -> <- Acknor
Iridiel2004-12-15 09:49:08
Thanks a lot! :-)
So it is roughly:
Stewartsville vs Delport
Estelbar vs Acknor
(Rockholm vs Southgard) vs (Angkrag)
Angkrag vs Dairuchi (for the silk thing)
Then that makes Dairuchi and Rockholm, Southgard natural allies? :-)

I think this change gives a nice purpose for certain people to have lots of influence abilities...
Maybe now I can be of some use..

I think Estarra just hinted to a third human settlement. Whee!
eirene2004-12-15 20:32:02
just to clarify, is the diplomacy bug fixed, because I also had a client for whom i performed amnesty who, upon entering the village, was attacked by the guards. I think diplomacy is a really cool skill and a good way for influencers to make money!

I'm pretty sure it works now. Though customers ought to check the results before venturing into the villages.

"It is now random which day of the week a village will go into play (rather than at the start of a new month)."
So.....whats the point of this new influence change? Well, other than hurt organization efforts, since we basically now have to hope that we are around when a village revolts. And there is no way to know beforehand if we can be or not.

So people who can't be on at the start of months get a chance?
