I liked the F'ai Glomdoring one, so I've put a modified version into the game - faiglom. I'll also be giving each guild a chance to think up their own guild emote, which they can send to me in-game via letter.
Gwylifar2005-07-15 14:44:20
Hmm, that still means "I have mercy", doesn't it? biggrin.gif Isn't it ironic, don't you think...

No... it doesnt mean that..
Lisaera2005-07-15 16:39:25
No, because Glomdoring means without mercy, so it's more like "I am without mercy" or "I have no mercy".
Sylphas2005-07-15 16:47:41
I think he means F'ai Glom (faiglom).

The Runemasters in Achaea should have GOODJERA and ALGIZPROTECT.

We should not. Some of us perfer "May Raido bring you home." or "May Nathuiz aid you in battle." Those are terms we must remember, not have emotes to cheat off of..

TRIP

You look around for someone to trip.

You sweep your leg and hook it underneath Roark, knocking Him to the ground.

Roark sweeps a leg underneath you and hooks it around, painfully knocking you to the ground.

Estarra quickly sweeps her leg under Kethuru and hooks it about, knocking Him to the ground.

And it would actually make them prone. biggrin.gif This would replace the old tackle that was in (at least) Aetolia. Tackle now requires a direction for warriors.
Lisaera2005-07-15 19:24:13
No instant prone ability with no balance.
Soll2005-07-15 19:27:01
It used to have a huge balance, though. Around 5-7 seconds, I think. Did in Aetolia, atleast.
Richter2005-07-15 19:32:08
Indeed. The person that was tackled could actually stand and attack faster than the person who tackled. I believe it took balance.

Tackle, though, made you both prone.

2nd: (whoever) stands up and flexes (his/her) muscles, letting out a menacing hiss at you.
3rd: (whoever) stands up and flexes (his/her) muscles, letting out a menacing hiss at (whoever).

sanity

2nd: (Whoever) insanely repeats to you, "I am sane, I am sane, I am sane..."
3rd: (whoever) insanely repeats to (whoever), "I am sane, I am sane, I am sane..."

We need more sad emotes.. Most of these are happy ones, or regularities... Can someone do a sadist one or something else?
Ialie2005-07-15 20:34:19
I would still like an ability that allows you to carry someone if they agree to it It, or you could instant carry any allies could work like follow, but the message could be changed when you enter a room. SO and so enters from the east carrying so and so.

It could be sized based, so that you could not carry anyone with a larger size

Also if you do something that causes you to lose eq or balance such as observe, the person carrying you doesn't lose you, but.. since you are being carried there will be many abilities that you arent allowed to do.

I would actually like to see a racial emote for the Faelings!

Faesing 1st-un: Closing your eyes for a moment, you prepare yourself. Slowly opening your mouth, etheric song of incomprehensible words, enchanting the very air and earth around you.

Faesing 3rd-un: Closing his/her eyes for but a moment, (soandoso) begins to sing a delightfully enchanting song, and all of Nature seems to sway to the rhythm.

Faesing 1st: Closing your eyes as you prepare yourself, you begin to sing a song of indescribeable beauty. Your voice causes the air, earth and nearby plantlife to sway with the rhythm, leaving (target) staring awe-struck.

Faesing 2nd: (Whoever) closes his eyes before releasing a song of unparalleled beauty, while the words are lost to you, you seem drawn into it, as your mind goes hazy.

Faesing 3rd: (Whoever) closes his eyes before releasing a song of unparalleled beauty. The words are incomprehensible, but (target) seems lost in the song, as Nature itself dances to it.
Gwylifar2005-07-15 20:57:22
Right, if "d'or glom" means "have mercy" (my guess is literally, "give me mercy") and "f'ai glomdoring" means "I have no mercy" (my guess is literally, "I possess mercilessness"), then "f'ai glom" probably means "I have mercy" or "I am merciful". So all the Glomdorians using that emote will be typing "I have mercy" every time they use it, even if only they can see themselves doing it. I will smirk about it OOC.
Richter2005-07-15 22:35:10
It's just a command dude. tongue.gif
Gwylifar2005-07-16 00:35:18
Yeah, I know, I'm just being silly. We take our amusement where we can. I'm just sorry I'm giving Lisaera a hard time over it. Sorry. sad.gif
Unknown2005-07-16 08:35:50
Wait... I was under the impression that glomdoring meant "forest without mercy." So then we have d'or glom which is means "have mercy (on me)" and supposedly f'ai glom means something like "I have no mercy/I am merciless" but now someone says it must mean "I have mercy"... then doesn't f'ai glomdoring mean "I have a forest without mercy"? MEH. The fae need a less confusing language, damnit.
Arundel2005-07-16 14:11:49
I think Gwylifar just went through that.
Sylphas2005-07-16 16:19:31
You know, I doubt anyone actually sat down and made a fae language. It's probably just about 3 words given arbitrary meanings, and formed into some semblance of cohesion to make it look like a language. If it has inconsistencies, that's only to be expected.

That said, I want IRE to hire a nice linguist and make actual racial languages for us. *wants to learn elfen*

Why get them to do it? Make it yourself. Hell, Gwylifar's totem tribe is designing an Aslaran langauge, very detailed. Just takes a little immagination, and dedication, and it works just fine. smile.gif
