I don't want to comment on the joke of the other thread, so I'll post here. I think that yes, knights should have mounts, but no, they shouldn't all be the same. Perhaps the Serenguard would have a stag, the Paladins some kind of ivory stallion, and the ur'Guard.. I dunno, something else. Anyway, I think it'd be a good idea for Knighthood and it'd do alot for our archetype.

Maybe not stag for Serenguard. Hartstone already have stag, and besides, Serenguard are free to choose either stag or moon.

More interesting would be a riding upgrade with a handful of weapon-dependent skills, really. That'd make warriors the most efficient riders, and make a largely useless skill more practical.

Warriors need no more upgrades. dry.gif

Iggy - perhaps they could get an animal from the moon, then? That'd be cool..

And also, Knights are known to be the most proficient and skilled Riders. I just think we should have mounts without having to spend 125k on them. *pet eagle*

Edit: Just got another idea after we posted this. Perhaps when you first get your new/first pet, they could grow up, kinda like the ebony wakabi. For instance, if you had say.. a bear, it could start as a cub, and grow up to be old and grey-haired just like you! I just think it'd be cool, having a fully grown falcon sucked in Achaea, I'd have liked to have gotten a chick at first, or even an egg.
Silvanus2004-12-13 22:14:51
What came first, the chick, the egg, or the falcon?

If you want to be "the most proficient and skilled Rider," , you can spend the lessons on riding or be a content squire.

My gripe is more with spending 300cr on a skillset that works itself out to an overglorified RP tool with a touch of evasion.

I'm trans riding, but I can do very little with rp. I have an eagle, but I'd also like a warrior pet.

Maybe have several extra mount skills in knighthood. Not actual mounts, or being able to ride. But several things, like making certain mounts hardier, etc?

My gripe is the 300 credits to trans riding, the 250 for a collar so your 125k doesn't disappear at the hands of some newbie, and then getting the 125k to buy the mount. I learned up to pony, in case I get the urge to ride something other than my broom, but I won't go farther until I have 600 spare credits laying around gathering dust.

My gripe is knights thinking they need more upgrades. Give it a rest already!
Gol2004-12-14 00:03:19
Not an upgrade. Considering our mastery, bonecrusher or blademaster, is largely passive bonuses etc... would be nice to have a couple 'utility' skills not directly related to combat.
Xavius2004-12-14 02:46:49
You miss the point. Knights dish out afflictions and damage faster than I could hope to, and cosmicfire doesn't come in a stronger flavor than merian. My last feeble advantage is in healing. Emphasis on feeble.
Richter2004-12-14 06:07:25
Knights don't need pets just because other realms have them.

Not that I'm going to complain if I ever get one though...
Tias2004-12-14 09:59:17
Maybe they could make like a Lance Specialization and give you skills that will involve the use of that combined with a steed.
Unknown2004-12-14 12:14:37
And a skill that makes us straddle our steed tighter, so as not to fall off. Because if there were a lance specialization, and you fell of your steed, you're screwed. And vault takes a loooooong time in the heat of combat.
Kaervas2004-12-14 14:46:28
It always makes me laugh when people seem to think that their class needs to be more like their class on Achaea. If you want a pet spend 500 credits on getting one, knights are fine as they are.
Erion2004-12-14 15:14:14
Why not edit the skills that the knights get (Sacraments, Moon/Stag, Necromancy), kind of how the Sylvans had one type of elementalism and the magi had a different type, back in Achaea? Give the knights an ability that uses like 5 power, an summons a mount. A pristine white war stallion for the paladins, a hellhound or skeletal beast for the ur'guard, and a stag/insertsomethinglunarhere (I know absolutely NOTHING about the seren's archetypical symbols) for the Serenguard, depending on their totem? Shrug, just a suggestion. Maybe too much work for the end result. Make it higher up in the skills, like virt/fable?
Unknown2004-12-14 17:06:09
Maybe Serenguard can beckon down the Lusternian moon and ride it around the continent! It would cost 1000 power and a single summoning would wreak havoc upon the entire continent. Whee.

I'm kidding.
Richter2004-12-14 21:02:47
Good, cause for a second, you -really- had me fooled.

O_o
Iridiel2004-12-15 21:08:43
A wood horse for the Serenguard? Like those the kids use to play, but with green eyes and sharp teeth.
