Ah, you know, there's always speeding yourself up, slowing their time, stopping their time momentarily, stopping time locally...for example, a death attack would be putting various parts of the body out of the time flow, or speeding them up so they turn to dust etc., and then just stopping their heart. That could be like crucifix, only slightly different.
Or, or, there could be stopping parts of yourself, such as reducing damage dramatically but giving you a small disability by ceasing your nervous action in certain places, for example.

Hm, all very good ideas, Shiri.
TIMEWARP
Speeds up the time of one particular limb of a person, forcing it to become shrivelled and mangled.
TIMESLIP
(Just like the one in Cosmic, but more due to Time than fabrics)
HEARTSTOP <>
Slows down the pumping of the heart of a target to the point where it no longer beats. Instant kill attack.
STASIS <>
Puts someone into Stasis, which is just like sleep. They can fight off the effects of this stasis prison by writhing out of it.
PRESERVE
Preserve a container, so all the items therein will decay at half the rate.
DIZZY
Speed someone's head up enough to cause them dizziness and slight vomiting.
SLOW NERVES <>
Null their nerves by slowing, giving them recklessness.
TIMEHEAL
Heals a broken part of the body, although can occasionally give recklessness.
ANNOREXIA
Speeds up time enough for someone's stomach to shrivel and get annorexia.
HUNGER
(Maybe there's a better name for this). Focusing on their stomach, you transport it forwards in time until it feels very hungry.
SLOWDOWN
Gives aeon, obviously.
AMNESIA
Gives someone a quick glimpse of the future, then brings them back, confusing them and giving them amnesia.

Good for staples, I guess. The stasis is very interesting, since you can't writhe while asleep.

Both should require power, and perhaps the last one should require something else too. Since that's a very useful skill. Either that, or have it just nullify decay for the month, at a power cost. And the heartstop needs some other reqs, I guess.

All those last ones are awesome too. I wouldn't have timeheal heal limbs, because limbs don't heal from time, but there we go. The anorexia one from the occultists would be weird, though. I mean, you'd think it'd make them MORE hungry, not less.
EDIT: Someone help, my silly quote things aren't working.
Unknown2004-12-18 21:57:11
Hunger would put their stomachs forth just a little bit, until they feel hungry.
Annorexia would put their stomachs forth a lot, so (they probably vomit once or twice), and then it shrivels to they only need to eat less.
Oh, and I should have put "like web" rather than "like sleep." It also wouldn't be realistic to WAKE from stasis.
I haven't put any power costs on, either. I'd probably overpower them or underpower them or something, so if the Divine would implement these, I'd leave that up to them.
MORE IDEAS
----------------
TIMELOOP
Only works if you're standing in the room with the target, and they're on your enemy list. Costs quite a bit of power. If your opponent tries to move more than two rooms away, the sands of time will hurl them backwards to the point when they were standing with you. (i.e, it will put them back in the room).
TIMEAFFLICT
Thrust a person's body through the sands of time, giving them an affliction that they once had or may get in the future. (i.e, it gives a random affliction ).
TIMECURE MIND/BODY
Thrusting yourself or a target through the sands of time, it will transport your/their physical body to a point where they did not have/will not have a certain affliction. (i.e, strips a random affliction>. Curing mind gets rid of a random affliction ailing the mind, and if you choose body, it heals a random affliction ailing the body.
TIMESTRIP
Thrusting your target through the sands of time, it will transport their physical body to a point where they did not have/will not have a certain defence. (strips a random defence)
BREAK HOURGLASS
Much like Fury in Druidry, shattering the symbolic hourglass of a Cronologist will cause a great disaster, forcing past/present and future to collide, changing the status of all those present, including yourself. It may take away health, or add a random affliction.
CREATE TIMECIRCLE HERE
HANG TIMECIRCLE
TRANSPORT TIMECIRCLE
If you draw a time circle upon the ground in one location, you may blow through the future like a light breeze, ending up where you would be in the future. By doing CREATE TIMECIRCLE HERE, you will create two circles. One can be hung in the location, and the other kept by you. You may TRANSPORT TIMECIRCLE to go between the two corresponding points whenever you like, although circles are not permanent.
SPEEDBLOOD
Increases the bloodflow of a target, piercing their skin and giving them intense bleeding damage.
SLOWBLOOD OFF/ON
Slows the blood flow down, causing less damage from bleeding. If you become too physically active while slowblood is on, (i.e moving fast), your breathing will become heavier.
TIMECLOAK
If anyone tries to glimpse your location, summon you, or go to you, the sands of time will confuse them as to your position in the present. (i.e, it will give them a random room name/area name, or, if trying to summon, "The sands of time protect this one."
TIMESHIELD
Prevents you from being touched by the ripples in the flow of Time. You cannot take damage, or give damage, or do anything, or the shield will be broken.
Annorexia would put their stomachs forth a lot, so (they probably vomit once or twice), and then it shrivels to they only need to eat less.

Yes they do. Realistically, if you break your arm, it'll heal in a month or so. It's the nature of cells to try and repair themselves, so the skill would make sense.

They don't repair themselves, they multiply, but that's besides the point. I don't think arms repair themselves without a lot of help...especially not if they're withered by a Nihilist, or lost entirely, or what have you.
I'm LOVING all those powers, by the way, Iggy. It's starting to seem less like a monk thing, though. But it would be fun to actually see a Chronologist work. It'd work well with Dreamweaving, in fact. The one causing their bloodflow to boost is also one of the best ideas I've seen here. Wish I had ideas like that.
Oh, and it might be nice to have a universal tag. Like, MOONDANCE THING, DARKCALL THING...we'd have TIMEWARP THING, or perhaps TIMESHIFT THING.
EDIT: And just because I felt like trying my hand at it...
Discordancy
By irregularly warping time around the target, you distort the muscular and nervous coordination of the target, afflicting them with both epilepsy and clumsiness as neural and physical reactions are struck with discordancy.
And since this is perhaps monkstyle and therefore focusing on the inner self...
Timeskip
By restoring your body to a previously recorded state, all maladies afflicted on you, as well as unnatural defences, will be completely nullified.

I'd hate it if they brought in anything even vaugely like the traditional chinese martial arts styles. It irked me in other games, and struck me as an unwanted link to OOC things, no matter how you put a spin on it. Unarmed fighters, fine. Monks using well known OOC styles barely changed, copied, etc, to work in lusternia? Ick.

Dreams
Accelerating an opponent's mind, while not allowing increased reactions as the body is not sped up, will cause fatigue to set in more rapidly, bringing the target closer to needing sleep.
I'd hope that's a more original take on the sleep/insomnia affliction.
Dreamless
(3 power)
Invoking a future or past state of mind can restore the chronologist's sleep patterns, temporarily but completely removing the natural requirement of sleep.
(Possibly unremovable insomnia too.)
Also, shameless bump.

Slowshield
By virtue of a thin wall of delayed time, attacks targetted at a Chronologist will in fact only take effect a brief time later, giving a split-second to react.

Well, if monk-types were put in for every city, this is what I'd like to see:
Some form of martial arts. An ORIGINAL form of martial arts. This would be shared by all Monks.
For commune monks, Totems, and for city monks, Rituals. Specializations remain the same as for Knights. (just because that's the general theme)
All monks would gain the basic skillset Meditations, which would allow monks to control minor aspects of the mind, space, and time, and would split off into three specializations:
Chronology: as mentioned in all the awesome posts so far.
Telepathy: control of the mind. Low level skills in Telepathy would involve the calming and cleansing of your own mind, and higher level skills would allow you to agitate the minds of others. Some example skills:
Physics: Barely anything like the science, I just picked the name. Essentially, mastery of space around you, and defying and changing the natural laws. More example skills:
Just some thoughts, feel free to criticize or add.

Calm     Don't let them get to you.
MINDCALM
Calms your mind of jumbled thoughts. Cures two afflictions that throw your mind in chaos (dementia, impatience, etc.)
Foresight     How predictable.
FORESIGHT
FORESIGHT OFF
Peering into the mind of your target, you can see what they are about to do and reflexively dodge it. Constant, large mana drain.
(like a non-razeable speed defense that also works on magical abilities)
Chaos     Don't let your mind wander, it won't come back.
MINDCHAOS
Gather violent thoughts and fears in your head and thrust them outwards at a target. If your mind is healthy, several random mental afflictions will be given, otherwise, up to 3 of your existing mental afflictions will be transferred to your target. Chance of failure, at which point the afflictions will just stay with you. Power cost.

Halt     Why is the air so thick?
HALT
Increase the density of the matter around a target, nearly trapping them in place. They need to writhe to get out.
MomentumCharge     I can't stop! I can't stop!
MOMENTUMCHARGE/MCHG
Multiply the amount of force you can impart on a person and slam into a target and shove them 3 rooms away. Similar exits will be used (like, if you use this along the Alabaster road, your target might go E, NE, E or something like that).
GravitySpike    Boing... whee... splat!
GRAVITYSPIKE
GRAVITYSPIKE
If you turn up the gravity, anyone flying, in the trees, or on the ground in the same room as you will crash down to earth. People who fell from the trees or sky will have more than just their legs broken and a concussion, they'll also take some damage. If you center the spike on a target, they will be pinned down as well, and will need to writhe off the spot they are on.
If you turn it down, however, anyone in the skies will be thrown off balance, anyone in the trees and the ground will be thrown up into the sky. Anyone without a method of flight will plummet back down to earth after a couple of seconds when the spike fades. If the spike is centered on someone, they get launched much higher, and will take a lot more damage when they land.
Takes power, duh.

Addendum: Shooting people up in the air would take less equilibrium than slamming people down using GravitySpike. And the powercost would be low enough that you could fling someone up, then slam them down while they're falling, though you'd be nearly out of power by then.

I wouldn't like to see those physics skills on a monk.
However, they are awesome and should be coded in as some sort of Hallifax scientist/guardian/whatever skillset.

INFINITELOOP
Your sorry attempt at playing with time has caused everything to cause itself to repeat. This makes you and everyone else in the room log out for atleast the amount of time it takes to reboot your computer.

I think it works perfectly on monks, they could control the space around them, the flow of time, or the thoughts around them. That's a nice 3 spheres they could choose from...
Shiri2005-01-03 10:18:59
Yeah, I'm just seeing it as a great skillset for a sort of...spacetime manipulator from Hallifax. I was actually going to post this later, once I'd refined it a bit, but after seeing your original post, Blastron, I decided to write up a sort of basic "Physics" skillset based mostly on gravity with the odd energy power to fill yours out, and then threw a few ideas around about a numerology/hexes like skill to do with inscribing more complex patterns for effects. We have pentagrams, so let's see what other powers shapes have. (I could see this as being a very Hallifax specialisation as rituals - e.g., scribe a rune into the ground, when an enemy comes in it fires on them, and then the guy has to do a ritual to perform its effect.
