Played Achaea for about 5 years now, starting just at the closing stages of that Death's Heart thing (never did find out what that was about). Achaea just got boring over the years, and I wasn't going anywhere with my one character, mostly sitting around doing nothing. Now I am well and truly converted to Lusternia, thanks to mostly new skills, and the whole Planar thing, and powered skills, and... etc.

Meh.  I came from Achaea, after going on and off between it and a Wheel of Time MUD.  Pity me, for I learned to RP on AOL chats.  Such a sad state of affairs.  But I'm so willing to admit it.  I Rhydin'd.  A lot.

I think I'm going to go cry now.

I came from Achaea... and learned in Rhydin, I go haunt a chat room every now and again and run screaming.

Heh, Terry didn't come up with the concept of Igors.

He did have the lisping ones put together out of several different bodies first, though.

What's Rhydin'd? blink.gif

Having the hunchback slave with the whistly tooth, "Yessss, master.." (yes, I know it's different from Igor's, "Yeth mathter"), is pretty typical. Terry Pratchett basically just expanded on an already present idea, that Igor is deformed and has a strange voice. Using the idea isn't exactly illegal.

If it were true, then hundreds of different stories/games would be plagurizing by using Tolkien's orcs. But I guess you weren't actually being serious, so y'know, ignore me or something. tongue.gif

Aetolia for me.. and I never really though it was That bad.. but then again I was stopped going there about 1-2 rl years ago. But I have lotsa fond memories, but I wonder if it has gone downhill, I still check up and there never seems to be much going on there just people doing the usual.

It's not gone that far downhill. There are still events every so often, and a new Divine was introduced recently. Although, I have to say, the best thing so far is I might soon become a Vizier in Enorian. -touch wood-

Played Achaea for.... 4-5 years. Aetolia and whatever the other one's called never even tempted me, but after I got shrubbed in Achaea I gave Lusternia a try, and I doubt I'll be going back to Achaea now.

My only past IRE experience was a few hours of Achaea years ago. Thats why I suck at fighting. All I ever got done there was...

swing pixie
You miss

swing pixie
You miss

1337newb enters from the east.
He swings at pixie.

Pixie dies.
1337newb gets pixie corpse.

Pixie enters.
Swing pixie.
You killed pixie.
Get corpse.
You get pixie. But the Imp King is dead, so you're screwed.

I played Achaea for a couple years. I was doing really well, the top fighter of my class (Paladin), one of the true elite fighters overall, and member of a pretty exclusive Order that I loved. Then I couldn't play for a couple months, Order head and Patron went inactive, my groups of friends got ejected from all positions of power, and things got a lot less interesting for me. doh.gif

Ha! If you're gonna claim to be the best of anything, we wanna hear names. As for your Order, if it was Lorielan then:

Pssh, you can figure it out if you played Achaea. Raja w/ raps. Anyway the point wasn't that I was OMG TEH BOMB but that I felt I had reached my potential, so I wasn't too motivated to try to get up where I was again. That's just boring. By the way, what does "plaugh" mean? I assume it's onomatopoeia, so it it a "plaf" or "ploof" or "plooguh" or what?
Akraasiel2004-12-25 18:47:42
My first mud oh so many years ago was a little place called LegendMud. I think there were 20 people tops on at once back when I was there, usually only like 10 or so. Heh. About a year or so later I started playing Achaea back when it was rather young. Got bored with Achaea and came back about five or six times on and off before Lusternia came into open beta, then joined up here.

Plaugh stands for point&laugh. Like Nelson's sort of, "Haw, haw." (Yes, I know that completely fails to convey the point.)

Sort of does....although there are a good number of people who disliked Lorielan in Achaea.

Regardless, I for one don't want to know if s/he is, though.

Indeed.

Started on Achaea on and off for about a year, back in fifth grade...migrated to Imperian by the time I was twelve. I never really got all that far in other games...I'm strictly a Lusternian now.
Iridiel2004-12-28 14:59:59
Two years in Achaea, a few months in Imperian when achaea started to be dull (secretary on a guild in Hashan, nothing more to do in politics if I wanted to keep that, no taste for PK, and no artifacts and no time to bash up to dragon).
Then, it started the first stages of Lusternia, the msm group, the beta testing, and now I only log inn Imperian and Achaea to check for msgs and news.
Roark2004-12-28 16:15:17
I played Achaea for many years, like since 1999 during the Shrine Wars before Death's Heart, up until Lusternia development got off the ground in the middle of 2003 and that consumed most of my MUD time. It was my first MUD. I thought it would be silly and stupid from what I saw (I played 3D shooters exclusively until then) but quickly got hooked. I can understand the MUD burnout phenomenon as I did have to take a break every so often, especially the last semester of college when the course load really bore down on me. But I always came back. It was too fun to leave permenanently, even after leaving college, entering the Real World, and getting a Real Job. I never went to other games simply because I had too much time invested in developing my Achaean character and there did not seem a huge enough difference to make me want to invest all that time again into a new character. (Also why I never pursued a second character in Achaea.) Though of course if I was still a mortal then I would exclusively play Lusternia! wink.gif
Rhysus2004-12-28 16:35:16
I began playing Achaea about five years ago or so, right after Death's Heart I believe. Migrated to Aetolia when it opened and pretty much stopped playing Achaea at that point. Played Imperian when it opened but stopped to go back and keep on with Aetolia. Now playing both Aetolia and Lusternia. Have been the city leader for two cities in Achaea, three cities in Aetolia, one city in Imperian, and one city (obviously) in Lusternia. Just as here, I was selected to be one of the first city leaders when Imperian opened up as well. Never had more than one character in any of the games, excepting where I stopped playing one of them entirely in favor of another.

My first MUD, for those interested, was a little place called Federation Space Fantasy from IB Games. It started out being hosted on AOL back in the day (1995 or so) but is now independently hosted and, unfortunately, on a subscription based model. But still fun to pop in there now and then.

You got shrubbed? for what?

I played achaea for as long as....since i was about 9-10 yrs old...I'm now 15...I was Aladraions sister who suicided. Hermione. I gave Aetolia a kick and was Charity I believe, the Vampiress without a home. Went back to Achaea and got 3 extra people playing. Now I'm gone cause it's changed too much and alot of things got annoying there. I'm gone for good.
Amaru2004-12-29 18:51:25
If I said that I'd be giving it away. Anyway, for Isntinuse.. gotta be Davien or Altarius, you don't sound like Altarius so I'll go for Davien.
