Nil is like... kinky S&M fetish heaven. huh.gif Not that that's a bad thing, it sounds like fun!

...yeah, I didn't know that stretched as far as being shut in an iron maiden, or getting chucked in a fire pit... blink.gif Mind you, you'd know, I wouldn't. tongue.gif

My favourite descriptions I've seen in the game yet are the viscanti towers in Magnagora. Amazing stuff, beautifully written - once glorious but slightly seedy. And little things, like the water dispenser in one of the lobbies.

My favourite creature descriptions are the ones for the loamadores and thornbeasts in Glomdoring. Original, short, and sweet.
Shiri2004-12-26 19:00:25
I always imagined the thornbeasts as kinda like the Nightmare beasts out of the D&D 3E MM2, only, like, green and thorny. And loamadores always confused me. I should really look at the creature descriptions as well as the room looks. (Why haven't I already? Normally I love that stuff.)

I went to Nil once, got stuck where Gorgulu was, got to spend a fun-filled evening with the giant blob till someone rescued me. I really have no idea how to get around Nil.

IRE needs some new names...obesefesssor? When I read the name, I was like wtf....obese professor? Then I read the desc and yup, that's what it is.

On a side note, I had 2.3k HP (not my max, mind you tongue.gif) and two obesefessors hit me AND IT KILLED ME, BYPASSED VITALITY TOO!!!!!!!!! sdfhislfdhdsl;fhssdfsadfdfg.

Er- no, things in Celestia tend to beam at you and move on.

As opposed to gobbling you up....gotta love Nil.

I'll revive this thread with a thought -- what sort of pretty places would you people like to see snuck in? Secluded valley recesses, magma caverns where the sulfurous fumes might be a little irritating, but the lighting's quite exquisite? Crystalline column and straw-filled caverns covered in flowstones? A random wall covered in carvings of kittens (possibly being eaten by certain Divines' companion canines)? The infinite possibilities that I can't even begin to poke at in a strange little thought-prodding post such as this?

We like people throwing thoughts out on how they like their world and the kind of things they would like to see. Yes, we do. painter.gif

I'm a sucker for gardens, perhaps there could be an eccentric old lady who breeds flowers for a hobby, and her large gardens she lets adventurers roam through? Celest could do with a good water-garden as well, what about Serenwilde and Magnagora?
Erion2004-12-30 15:36:42
I'd like to see more rooms that fall along the lines of beautiful but destroyed. I love most of Magnagora and the Glomdoring. It conveys that feeling someone pointed out earlier about the Towers. They have this regal, absolutely divine beauty to them, yet are corrupted in such a manner I view it as only an enhancement.
Shiri2004-12-30 16:18:36
I would quite like a few different "Sea" descriptions.
Unknown2005-01-03 22:28:17
I'm a big fan of rain forests, or what people commonly know as "jungles", especially if they're secluded in a valley or island. I also like waterfalls.

Don't worry, there's more where that came from.
Nika2005-01-04 09:30:37
Hmm. I'm a sucker for the underground glowing rooms with crystals, actually, like Isune said. A good forest room is always nice, with flowers and butterflies and such, but what I would really like is a place like the North Ithmia - all burnt out and such, but regrowing slowly. Err.. Not that we'll be putting huge north-south road through the Serenwilde anytime soon, but I can hope.

I suspect the IRE engine does not easily support the type of areas I really enjoyed in the Simutronics MUDs. Where an area was often filleded with dozens of interactive items. Climbing up and down footholds, ladders, trees, rubble, etc. Rolling a log into the road to slow down wagons. Being able to pour things onto and altar or clean them. Sit in chairs and sleep in hammocks.

Probably quite predictable, but I'd like to see some more ancient forest. I love the sense of timeless majesty that can be conveyed by calm, pristine wilderness. Some of the Ethereal Serenwilde is quite lovely, though nothing quite exquisite.
