Hmm. Wonder if posts could ever be edittable.

Actually, if you know the early writings and history of Eris then you might be able to figure out where the humans, and also Estarra, came from. And who exactly is that nameless son and two creator/destroyer sisters from the mythos?

First off, I'm surprised no one said anything about this....so I will.
AHHHHHHHHHHHHH! ACHAEA! AHHHHHHHH! The Occultists are comming! AHHHHHHH!
Now back to the topic at hand.
I haven't logged in to read either Qaletaqa's, not Estarra's post, but from what I've gotten out of this thread, it's suppoused to be that those in Delport don't know fluent "French". Well, perhaps that is just those we see out on the streets. I'm not sure of how much Qaletaqa RP's who his family is(in Delport), but maybe his family in particular decided to carry on the language as much as possible, and as such, he could and would know it fluently.
Now if Estarra's post complete shoots this idea down, bust.

It does.

As I mentioned... screws a huge portion of the playerbase over. No one who doesn't speak french, can roleplay being from delport. If someone is fluent in German, fluent in Japanese... They can't use that for roleplay. Why should one minority group get a chance no one else gets, when it could be made so anyone could roleplay being from delport?

Okay this is so stupid all of it. The fact that I am from Seattle, Washington in the United States does not make me a minority. I took Japanese as my foreign language for highschool. I don't even know french and I had to study it to roleplay for my character. Just go to world.altavista.com. I think if anything encouraging a dialect that humans used to speak is a good. Everyone has the chance to translate with an online translator should they need to. Maybe I did take it too literal in the sense of the slight dialect in Delport but until recently no God has spoken against it. If you are complaining now why didn't you complain at PUBLIC POST #95? And I have not used my roleplaying against anyone in fact everytime I post publically it is because I am speaking to my village (hoping) they can understand me.
Most of what Estarra spoke about I was never made clear on and I have been roleplaying this for five years. So this is really a slap in the face for the work I have tried to add to the game. It didn't seem like bad roleplay at the time. I was just misinformed I suppose.
Estarra2004-12-24 23:42:38
Look, I'm not trying to trod on your roleplaying, but the line has to be drawn somewhere. For example, I know there are a lot of players that speak tagalog, so what if one starts roleplaying that tagalog is actually the language of the dracnari or those from dairuchi? And what if they started posting public posts in tagalog? And what if someone else decided lucidians speak Latin? Or taurians speak German? What would the new player think if he logged in and browsed through the public news and found several different languages? If it was me, I'd probably think I wandered into the wrong MUD. We're not going to allow Lusternia to become the United Nations or the Tower of Babel. This is an English speaking MUD and that's what we'll require on public posts or on public channels.
No, I won't mind the occasional French word or two creeping into the dialogue for roleplaying purposes, but it's anathema to the feasibility of Lusternia to turn it into a multi-language MUD. Nor will we cherry pick which languages are acceptable or not. Sorry, I just don't know how else to explain it.

Okay

Just a note.. Online translators are seriously not accurate. Verbs and tenses and stuff go all screwy, and you often don't get the right noun that you're after... Like a horse tail versus the 'tail end' of something. Nothing beats a real person translating for you.
EDIT: To be even more pedantic.. Hazar, you'd be after "Le francais est tres simplement". I hate it when I get like this. *cough*

Well I just feel I have let the whole game down because of my bad roleplaying and I didn't even know it was wrong.
