Do it. Although ive always had a thing for random color hair. GO WITH BLUE!!

Once I went from red (natural, not fire engine) to black to blond to red to bleached blond to purple. By the time I got to purple my hair was so damaged that it faded to blue within a couple days and the blue faded to green (from the yellow color from not bleaching long enough). Beware too much dye promiscuity.

Red on blond usually turns out really nicely. Red on black/dark brown is hardly noticeable.
