Any quick tips on how to overcome camera shyness to snap a picture of yourself?

I don't know about the camera shyness part, but I've seen a lot of bad self snapshots. People are always pointing the camera at the bathroom mirror (and it's usually quite dirty) or holding it out at arm's length. Both of these methods make for bad photos! Pretty much any modern digital camera will have a timer feature, and I recommend using it, if you don't have a friend who can take your picture for you. Just sit the camera on top of the TV, bookshelf, or some place where it's at about the right height to see your face. The last time I tried this, though, I had to take the picture about a half dozen times to figure out just where I should stand to be in the center of the frame.
