Yeah.  I had bracers for 4 years.  It sucked.  I felt like I was freed from a soviet prison after I got mine off when I was 19.  I was able to eat an apple without having to use a wrench to get the skin of apple out from the spaces in my braces.  So yeah.  I feel your pain.
