Delicasies*Â Prepare meals that are equisitely exotic
Now, I could be just completely off the mark here, but from that vague guideline we're supposed to be submitting recipes by, I'm reading that this (empty) category is for recipes that are culturally biased. In our world, we have sushi from Japan, bouillabaisse from France, and other sundry foods that appeal very strongly to those in their native culture, but are poked with a stick by foreigners before eating. In the Basin, what do we have? Well, we have villages with very distinct food sources. Delport has no agriculture, but still keeps Celest fed very nicely with meat, eggs, and dairy products. Estelbar, if I remember correctly, has no livestock, but a wide variety of exotic fruits.
Now, of course, what happens on this forum is OOC, but some details of our world were left blank, and it might be good form for us as a community to fill in some of the details, rather than a couple ambitious individuals (read: me) arbitrarily fills them in. A test run on something as insignificant as recipe ideas might be a good place to start.
Anyways, my thoughts on Delportois delicasies:
Meat would almost necessarily take center stage on any plate. Milk, eggs, and spices would round out the fancier meals. Rainbow trout in a cream-and-egg-white sauce? Not incomprehensible, but sufficiently oddball to make a furrikin cringe.
Anyone else (with better knowledge of village production and atmosphere) have ideas for the others?

Rockholm and Southgard... Hmm.. roasted rockeater maybe? Mm. Crunchy.
For the furrikin in Estelbar? Hmm... Fruit stewed in fresh cow's milk... I have no idea how that'll come out. Maybe somebody wants to try?
For the orcs in Acknor? Hmm... sheep innards. Mmm...
Angkrag - that's a toughie. Do they even need to eat...? Aren't they all undead? If so, they'd probably like things like... I dunno... Rotten eggs with live maggots as a side dish
Dairuchi - Thinly sliced raw sand cobra, marinated in a light sauce... think sashimi, but with snake meat!
Stewartsville - ...erm... I dunno. They... smoke hemp. So stick hemp somewhere in their dishes... for the "aroma." Boiled chicken feet on a bed of aromatic hemp maybe.
Don't look at me. I've no idea what I'm talking about.

Well perhaps thinking of the people that occuply the village.
Like I bet in Delport the people there give their loved ones lots of chocolate. Chocolate from Delport may be all the rage in what to give your loved one.
I bet most of the furrikins in Estelbar would love things like scones, elderberry whine, ... (tarlequin could probably suggest a lot of good foods hehehehe)
It would be funny to see gross food out of Acknor. Perhaps .. Magnagoran chefs can make food out of corpses to make Elven testicals ala mode.

I think kids play this game too, so...no.
Angkrag has the orcs, same as Acknor, on another note. The orcs are slavers in both cases (to an extent) - in Acknor they rule over collared Furrikin to do their farming for them, in Angkrag they get zombie dwarves to do their mining.
I'm liking the snake meat thing though.

Whats wrong with eating elven testicals when you can behead, crucify, and pretty much mutilate people in this game?
Heck might as well not be wasteful when you are hungry right?
Shiri2004-12-27 16:42:04
I really don't think that's appropriate, violence/mutilation or not.

Well. Testicles is a medical term.. Much better than a number of other things he could have said. Perhaps not -mortal- testicles being eaten, but in a lot of cultures they're considered a delicacy. In Spain for example, with the bulls...

1 )Ialie's a she.
2 )Bulls aren't mortal now?

Mmmmm, Elven testicles.

1. Whoops! Sorry. I did actually know that, my bad.
2. Bulls are mortal, but y'know... mortals as in people. It's a bad habit.

Tartare is a nice delicasy I think. Well if you consider raw red meat to be delicate.
You can have oysters from Delport or Stewartsville without much effort. I would keep to french delicasies in Delport and more germanic/scandinavian concepts for Stewartsville (mabye). Could even go with Greek food.
We already have gourmet crepes in our Cartel but I have yet to see any public designs. I think the administration should put out some recipes themselves so we have a better feel for what route they want us to take as far as culinary food.
