I'm not entirely sure how Liching works, but from what I've read, it sounds like the ability of Liches to escape death unscathed is viewed as an incredible skill to have, but the benefits of Lichform aren't amazing.
Doesn't this seem to suggest that overall, the skill is fairly balanced as it is? Downgrade the death benefit, and it becomes too mediocre, upgrade lichform and it becomes too powerful?

Well, the thing is that it is easy to stop us from escaping and our adversaries are slowly starting to realize that fact.

Its even more sad the fact that I have said how to stop Lichdom very easily on here and in Lusternia.

If I could tweak Lich ideally, I would make just two changes:
1) Performing Lichdom would make you a Lich on the spot. No waiting for death. No cheating death by not losing experience.
2) No bonus during the daytime, but no penalty, either. Your would lose the +2 bonus and that's it.
I'd really just like to role-play undeath without feeling crippled.

If you're going to have instant-change, you'll need something to have a chance of survival.. like not stripping all defenses, otherwise its just spending 20 power to die twice.
Anyway, lots of ideas to use.

Where do all of these Necromancers come across saying they usually end up dying a second time? Almost every time Daevos or Valek is Liched, they escape. And as for easily counterable.. sure hold off one second from fighting me, as I drop a flamed eye sigil in each of the adjacent rooms of this room that we are in that has 7 exits. Oh damn, it seems I killed you, but I missed placing an eye sigil in the 7th exit, looks like he got away.

Ok, read what I wrote properly.
If we -instantly- transformed, we'd die a second time. Especially if it stripped us of all our defenses.
The only reason we -don't- die a second time (usually) as it is, is because we know how to get away.

Serenwilde can rezz anyone including hartstone from a distance right?
what about geomancers, all they have is vitae like every other schmo, surely the tainted earth could afford them some sort of ressurection??

Serenwilders can get away from any situation imaginable. Let's not whine about lich anymore untill that's fixed.

Right, but that's not what I was saying. Instantly transforming when you did the ritual, as in, getting rid of the dormant lichseed concept entirely.
Gwylifar2005-01-01 17:47:44
We can only revive those who have mastered Totems and chosen a specialization, and only by having a coven of five or more people in one spot for hours and hours and hours and hours and hours and hours.
Thorgal2005-01-01 18:36:10
You people seriously have no idea of the concept objectivity Gwylifar, it comes down to this, you can revive every single one of your people that fight in the war, you can do it instantly, you can do it all over the realm without putting yourself in danger, and you can do it without any kind of price or cost.

the point is. stop whining about something that isn't overpowered?
edit: this was refering to people whining about the moon skillset.

Actually, while I wouldn't call most of Moon overpowered, (Rage in particular is rather pathetic, especially given how most people perceive it), Resurgem IS pretty powerful I would say. That could probably do with a downgrade too, though it has its disadvantages.
EDIT: Yes, I did have a point, I just forgot to write it down. I reckon Lich could do with changing before Resurgem could, if nothing else because it's used far more. Perhaps both need changing, granted, but Lich has been around more and is more commonly used, so that probably needs priority in correction.
