Newbie Channel

I like to pop on the newbie channel every so often when the guides aren't there. It helps me relax, and I love helping people (you have to when you work customer service).

But when I talk, and answer questions there, should I be expected to maintain Richter's character? It would be best to be helpful and bright, much like th guides, instead of (Newbie): You say, "Whaddaya want, runts?"

Thoughts?

I think newbie's generally a little OOC, but if your character acts in an offputting way then I don't think you should carry the attitude to Newbie. Answer in an IC way, but not in your character, if you understand me...

Newbie is an OOC channel, and the Guides have no roleplaying function. And if you decide to speak on the channel, you should never be pissy to the newbies.

OOC only in the sense of helping newbies, not OOC like some stupid clans we all love to hate.

Do not maintain aspects of your character that you would not maintain if your character got transformed into a guide. A guide would not call the newbs "grunts". But suppose you RP an accent that is not hard to read then it may be fine to throw that in, or if your character refers to youthful people with something complimentory but also makes sense for other guilds then that'd be fine. Ultimately, though, the newbie channel is completely OOC and has no bearing on your character.

Nod, I meant IC as in not saying everything in an OOC way- "Why don't you try looking at your SCORE, NewbieBoy" as opposed to "Type SCORE but it doesn't have to be in all capitals, NewbieBoy."

newbie Anyone need help?

You do not have permission to speak on this channel. Please respond to the
newbie that needs help via tell.

Unless your special and I'm not (which is quite possible) you can't speak on that channel if your not a newbie or a guide. Oh well.
I listen to newbie alot, and usually if you just answer the questions, your intereactions don't go beyond "thanks!".

You only can talk there if you've mentor status. Lv50 and 300 (I think) hours. That's the way it worked on Achaea anyway.
Richter2004-12-30 17:23:30
It is, and I am special Dyr. I've managed to spend way too much time and kill lots of things to get mentor status.

I pop in from time to time to assist people. Just thought it was odd to go from Richter to, "Can I help you all with anything? Send a tell!"

I believe Roark answered the question though.

Well I'm working on being special myself... One of these days, one of these days....
Unknown2004-12-31 20:20:54
I can't be a mentor because I die so much that rereaching level 50 is impossible, but I keep the channel open and answer any questions via tells.
Iridiel2005-01-04 15:19:36
I answer the novices via tells, but I'd prefer doing it over NEWBIE because this way you just answer once for all the novices, instead of having to answer to each one of them in tells. But it's absolutely ooc.
If it was IC I wouldn't be helping magnagoran novices out with their questions, or would give them wrong answers, or would try to take them to Celest or Serenwilde.
