I don't know who said it first so i won't quote, but someone complained about Serenwilde having a monopoly on alchemy and that they are the only ones who have the oportunity to have a monopoly. Granted while it's not the exact thing, if mag grabs the last two villages then they have a monopoly on comms. Serenwilders and (sorry for being inclusive) most celestians are enemied to mag. How exactly are Serenwilders and Celestians supposed to get comms? Most (not all) of the good fighters are in Mag, and don't say just influence the village cause people have tried and we get slaughtered. Yes there are new changes to influencing and possibly it will change but until then, mag kills everyone, takes over the village and no one can enter, no one can buy comms except Mags. Sounds like a monopoly to me. I know I can't take 25 Plague lords or 15 Grand Marshalls or whatever their guard names are. Strange no ones mentioned that yet, though plenty have slammed the serenwilde for being able to ban alchemy. Made this post a little angry so please forgive any and all errors I may have made. If not, oh well.

And to add to the fun, now there's a very bad bug that is messing things up even more. I wont mention what it is, because some people can't separate IC and OOC.

Something is wrong here.

I hope it's an event. It would be sad if nothing was going to happen but Crow rose and we killed him again.

Erm, could always do what some of them were doing? Getting little novices that weren't enemied to run in and buy out the comm shops of the other city's villages.

Yes, yes we could. You know what? They can also go to BOB and buy some potions. Bob doesn't offer everything someone needs and the alchemy ban is a pain in the arse? Stop killing Serenwilders. There's a way to get the ban lifted, but if Mag enemys us all we have to take people fresh from the portal who have what? 24 hours? to be of useful comm raiding. Quick quick newbie, you have 10 minutes before your novice time is up lets get you to Delport or Angkrag and buy out those comms. Seriously now.

Just wondering, when is a God going to reply to this, as it's directed to them?
Estarra2005-01-03 21:25:52
As a rule, I don't like to comment on events as they are happening. Nonetheless, I will note some responses to players activities have happened in Serenwilde. Also, I don't like to 'rush' events so don't expect immediate reactions (especially since flexible events take time to respond to player actions with special coding and whatnot). If players choose not to progress an event or if the situation doesn't progress because of player interaction, I'm perfectly content to let things 'stew'.
By the way, this started as a player-inspired event that we decided to let run, and to which we are responding as player interaction unfolds. I have no idea why anyone would think that any side was 'pushed' into doing something they didn't want. Even if a patron god uses a heavy hand in his or her RP role, ultimately it is the players' choice. So far, I will say that I find it interesting that both sides think the event is 'stacked' against them and several on each side are 'positive the gods are setting their side up to lose'. To that, I can only say that you are wrong and recommend that you RP as strongly as possible and watch and respond to how the situation evolves.

No offense intended at all in this response. It's hard not to feel set up by the gods or being taken advantage of when Serenwilde can not make it's guards stand still right now. Raezon is standing at mother while they attack him spamming everyone to death and then running around the serenwilde making them chase him since we can't stop them. All the while telling us we had better unenemy him or he will sit at mother being attacked by the guards spamming us until we do. Seems a childish and immature way to get a city/commune to remove enemy status. Nothing at all like I would expect from The God of Knowledge. Unless of course I have my Gods mixed up?
Plus is that misweave where we can't order the guards to stand still being looked at? If it is a misweave of course.

Gwylifar2005-01-03 21:41:04
When a God exploits a misweave and spamming in order to be unenemied by acting like an enemy, when colts refuse to eat one piece of sweetgrass and happily eat another at the same moment, when downgrades always happen just before the enemy needs them, at some point, there is no place for a distinction between "roleplaying a reaction" and that reaction being talking about how the odds are being stacked against us. What else is there to roleplay?
Daganev2005-01-03 21:41:12
the BIG difference between Magnagora owning all the villages and Serenwilde having a monopoly on Alchemy, is that Serenwilde can stop Magnagora from owning all the villages, its technically possible. It is NOT technically possible for anyone outside of Serenwilde to make alchemy potions. Why you would think they are comparable is beyond me.
Thank you Estarra for posting.

Ummm... You can set your guards to not chase people, but then they just won't be as usefull. Ofcourse you would have to disband all the chasing guards first.
And your the ones who stupidly enemied a god. Its not abusing any misweave to have guards attack you when you don't care that they don't really hurt.
I think its more chidlish to insist that you have the power to declare a god an enemy to your mortal organization.

No, we couldn't. That's the point.
Daganev2005-01-03 21:57:01
You disbanded the guards first? and when they came out you immediatly set them to stand ground?
Unknown2005-01-03 22:06:55
Daganev, yes we could "technically" stop you from influencing a village but then couldn't you "technically" find someone without morals who would be willing to sell to you? Don't be ignorant. Theres always a way around something so don't whine about it in the first place.
Eiru2005-01-03 22:13:04
And then whomever we find would be punished and removed from the guild/commune, then where would we be, if that kept happening? I doubt there's an endless supply.
Daganev2005-01-03 22:14:21
No, you can't technically stop magnagora from influencing a village. However, it is in your power, to influence a village instead of magnagora. Just because you suck at doing it, doesn't mean its not possible.
If I find said person without morals. that person still belongs to serenwilde, so even though I might be succesfully getting around your monopoly Serenwilde still has the monopoly and there is nothing anybody can do about it at this point.
Seriously, I'm surprised this has to be explained.

Your not understanding. We can influence a village IF. You can find potions IF. That's my point. Everyones whining about a monopoly when you can always find people to circumvent it. There's no absolute monopoly. PLUS if you read my post BOB can supply you with the basics. Don't like getting the basics, stop waging war.
Daganev2005-01-04 00:09:55
*roll* There is no IF in this. NOBODY outside of serenwilde can do Alchemy... EVERYBODY can influence villages.
Now on to better things... Nikua is now officially an idiot in my book. I hope the gods can restore everyone back to their posistions.
I think anyone who's an elected official should not be able to be kicked out of their city without all of the city/commune leaders accpeting. Same with people in positions of authority in guilds like security... its just wrong.

I agree. If his punishment is just being a maggot.. then I'm a little upset. Should leaf him up for awhile.. and who the hell is Lockist?
I'm tempted to call HELP SECONDS in on this, if he is Lockist. Even though he wasn't multiplaying the fact that he childishly spammed both Serenwilde and the world voiced Nikua's "anger" as well.
If you're reading this, Nikua, then I suggest you go and lay down for awhile. Take a nap.
