Ah, guess he was just standing there watching while the others killed the furrikins then.

Actually, Thorgal, Gelthrae has never stood in Estelbar while Serenwilders killed furrikins. And if he had actually been around at the time, whenever this was, he probably would of protested quite strongly, and either left in disgust or pushed his own commune mates away from the 'littleys' if they tried to attack them. He threatened someone quite bluntly IN the commune that mentioned the possibility of killing the Estelbar furrikins. He's extremely protective of the furrikins, and neither does he kill any other villagers -except those in Acknor, which he has always done because of its relationship to Estelbar. And would probably Angkrag, though he hasn't at this stage. Magnagoran guards, though, he'll kill wherever.
He's left a raid before when he found out the target was a Dairuchi villager.
So get your information right. I fight a lot in-game, but I make a point, or at least an attempt, to keep strong RP, even towards NPCs as the lack of regard for an NPC as a 'real' being in other games really irks me.
Back to the point, though - OOC, I hate seeing Serens killing villagers (except for Acknor and Angkrag). It -could- fit into roleplay - but most Serens don't take a RP-character with that extreme of hating-anything-outside-the-forest, so I don't believe it should happen. And as for raiding Estelbar in particular, as a player I think it's a very, VERY low act as far as RP choices go.

Let me just offer a simple, "Huzzah!" at that sentiment.
Treating peaceable sentient NPCs as experience-fodder is one of the quickest ways to destroy my suspension of disbelief in a MUD and spoil my RP experience. Yet complaining about it is one of the things most likely to get other players looking at me like a wacko.
On Achaea, my fondest wish was to sit down with all the village heads and say, "Look. They're already slaughtering you at every turn, right? What have you got to lose by going on strike and producing no commodities until this nonsense stops?"
