QUOTE(Shiri @ Jan 3 2005, 02:23 PM)
Declaring someone an enemy isn't trying to call authority over them in any way. It's recognising them as a threat and as a foe.

Someone violates the laws of a city. They are enemied, with the implication that they were under the jurisdiction of those laws. To remove said status, they must appeal to the authority of that city.

Someone attacks the holdings of a city. They are enemied on the premise that this will prevent or hinder such action in the future. To remove said status, they must appeal to the authority of that city.

If you don't think that an organizition exercising its authority to enemy someone is an act of authority over that person, I'd like to hear your explanation why.

QUOTE(Shiri @ Jan 3 2005, 02:23 PM)
To continue along the line of thinking your point presents, by enemying Daevos for attacking Serenwilde, we're trying to call authority over him.
Your point would be correct if enemying WAS like that, but I don't think that's what enemying means.

You are calling authority over Daevos in your example, as relates to Serenwilde. Essentially, the situation is that so long as Daevos is within Serenwilde, you have the authority to persecute him for his actions.

Once again, my argument is defeated by Melanchthon. Le sigh.

Raezon has removed the alembic.
Raezon has placed the alembic at "Centre of Necropolis".
Raezon burns down the Moonhart Mother Tree.
Raezon shouts, "How's that for an attack?"

That would be so frickin' funny! Well, not to Serenwilde, but still. It's the principle of it.

I'd agree, the gods are being treated like players. Why is this? Because some people cannot RP the Divine as beings that can zap you at any time, create what they wish, and have been around quite longer than you.

It is the same with Brona throwing insults at Lisaera. He got what he deserved. Gregori should get what he deserves also.

If you do not understand Forgotten Realms, then skip this... But can anyone see Drizzt Do'Urden cursing Lloth? The goddess that has probably made his life most miserable? Do Her followers curse the light Divine? No! You don't piss off a god! If you found yourself sitting in a a hell plane, being whipped by a demon, you may have deserved that! But if a Divine did that here... I bought credits! *whine*

Once again, I reiterate my statement that this is a roleplaying game. Treat mobs as people, treat administrators as Divine.

Yup, I remember when, in Imperian when Asaka and Zanik got in a fight and Zanik ripped out a tree. I believe it was Logain who enemied Him, and like a day later, Bashae, I believe unenemied him, because enemying Gods was not allowed.
Unknown2005-01-03 18:55:17
Mortals should not be able to declare Gods enemies. The idea of it is comepletly crazy. I'd say more but my lunch hour is over...as of three minutes ago. I just had to toss my two cents in.
Unknown2005-01-03 19:00:36
In Imperian Jagara enemied Baar from Stavenn, and got killed like 15-20 times. Baar is still enemied wink.gif
Unknown2005-01-03 20:22:01
You don't enemy Divine figures. You just...don't. It's like a rule of thumb: DO NOT ENEMY BEINGS THAT WEAVE REALITY.

Unknown2005-01-03 22:35:23
Think outside the boundaries people. Enemying a Divine is great RP. If Satan walked into a church, or Iblis waltzed into a Mosque; you wouldn't say 'well your sole purpose is to destroy my faith and God but since your a being beyond my mortal ken I'll kiss your behind'.
Daganev2005-01-03 22:43:13
I agree, its great RP... but to complain about any action that happens after you do so is idiocy

Thats a great point, Cron. But I'm thinking that the reasoning is going like this:

Serenwilde says, "Oh my gods... Gregori, you did WHAT??"

Gregori says, "What? I'm doing my job as a leader! He attacked us, He's getting enemied!"

Serenwilde says, "But now we're REALLY SCREWED!"

etc.
Shiri2005-01-03 23:24:02
I will be -thoroughly- amazed if anyone disputes that, Briseis, as that is more or less the exact wording used by most of the detractors (on the commune channel, that is, as both Merloch and Melanchthon, amongst others, present good points.)

who? eh Anu?
Unknown2005-01-04 01:32:53
no, Anu is someone else. I'm sure you see him often enough in Serenwilde, though. Ask Malicia.

Also, in my own defense. I don't complain about what's currently being done to Brona. It's all for the good of RP's sake. So he's a maggot. I don't care. I'll RP him as the best damn undead maggot you have ever seen. I have to admit, however, that even I wouldn't go so far as to enemy a Divine officially to an organization. You see Brona taking out members of Orders, but I'd be a f***ing moron to just walk up to Terentia or Lisaera and "order archdemon kill *lisaera or terentia*", then start tossing tarot cards. Playing a role and having opinions are alright in my book, but enemying the Divine is just a blatant slap in the face and goes behind simple disagreements on matters of opinion.

I wasn't serious that he is Anu. But what he did, was very Anu-esque. Kicking out the commune leaders, much like what Anu did to Shallam.

QUOTE(Merloch @ Jan 4 2005, 01:07 AM)
It's not a matter of maturity.
It's a matter of people not considering -Gods- as -Gods-, but instead as players with more power.

Personally, I'd be fully in favour of Raezon removing half of the living totems or something else catastrophic. You don't enemy Gods.
24535

You just have a totally different view to mine and my characters. I don't consider gods as beings to be feared. I consider them wise and learned beings, both IC and OOC, who have their own agendas. I totally support the enemying.
Silvanus2005-01-04 02:29:13
Gregori, as the Marshall, is supposed to uphold Serenwilde's laws. He did do it and showed that he does not make any exceptions.
Drago2005-01-04 04:43:15
I remember on Imperian when Jagara enemied Baar.

Stavenn lost all its guards as soon as Baar noticed, something about a giant fireball I believe.

Its already been said: Gods aren't players with infinite power, they're gods. If I were a god, I'd make sure the person who enemied me regretted it until they unenemied me, and probably for a while after that as well.

Its not a matter of "the principle of it" or "not making any exceptions" enemying a god is, in my opinion, one of the stupidest things you can do other then breaking the IRE policies.

And, in all honestly, its something that should never occur to a MORTAL to do. Sure, enemy Their followers and hunt them down, but enemy the actually God? That's stepping over the line.

Actually, most of the people in the church would die of shock at seeing the epitomy of all that is evil being corporeal in their presence.

Those that didn't die of shock would then scream and run in terror.

Please, do this next time a God in Lusternia appears in the same room as you.
