A wandering tutor who held knowledge in all common skills would be nice, but no guild-related ones.

Aww, poor thing. Ok, I'll specifiy. For the last real life year, IMPERIAN tutors have only taught what it makes sense for them to know.
Oh yeah, and since this is a learning type thread. Yay for making it 5 lines of learning, instead of 8.

Definitions of rouge:
noun: makeup consisting of a pink or red powder applied to the cheeks
verb: redden by applying rouge to; of cheeks
Then again, all the guildless people I've seen so far have about the intelligence level of rouge. No offense.
You'd have to be that stupid to abandon your nexus at this point.

A few things.
A: Guildless does not mean nexusless. I was guildless for a LONG time before I was nexusless.
B: Not really. Visaeris did it for RP reasons. Erion did it because he absolutely hates the Seren, struggled against Magnagora, and still would not fit well in there, and because he was treated like crud in Celest, then lashed back and left before he was forced out. Guido did it for RP reasons.
And there are plenty of people who have cities and would be lucky if they could ever mentally ascend to the level of rouge. Do I even need to spell his name out for people to know who I'm talking about?

Also, a good deal of rogues (like me) were kicked out of their city/commune, and they were already enemied to the other two organizations, making it impossible for them to join anywhere or even get unenemied. At least, impossible in the near future.
This being said, I don't think an all-knowing NPC teacher would be good for Lusternia.
EDIT: Erion, I know who you're talking about.

This is one of the problems with having Imperial Magnagora, Lord of All It Surveys, and Enemied to All.

Not an All-knowning teacher, but a wander who knows the common skills(Discernment, Discipline for example) and who is willing to teach anyone. Typhus currently has 90 lessons that he can't use simply because ---
A. He is enemied from Magnagora and Celest
B. No Npc will teach anyone not belonging to same City/Commune
C. Usually, if your enemied from their city, the citizens will not teach you
D. Can't get power unless you go to Astral, can't travel the planes unless you follow someone. Hard to learn to skill you need to be able to do so since all the teachers snub you.

The moral of the story? Don't become a rogue. Lusternia is meant to discourage rogues, because they were such a problem in the other realms.

As I mentioned previously, a lot of Magnagoran rogues didn't have much choice in the matter.

To be quite honest, I am glad. We don't have the playerbase right now to support a ton of cities, and i would prefer to concentrate on the ones we do have. I would much rather see time spent on new areas and events, than perhaps a new city at this point.
Akraasiel2005-01-16 10:01:59
Again, a reason the playerbase isnt expanding as it should be (given the influx of new players) is because the old players are leaving due to the current nature of the existing cities. (or being kicked out in droves, should they not be sleeping with a member of the city council in the case of Mag.)
medheriadh2005-01-17 15:25:44
And I believe this is because some players have burnt the game out. Most city leaders have interpreted "conflict" as "war", and they will be pressuring citizens to go to war. Also, some people PK too much and with no reason. That makes the game a bit discouraging too.
