Alt Characters

When I start an alt character, I seem to lose interest in Mox (or perhaps the previous alt character. Whichever character is my main one). Does anyone else have this problem? It's kind of confusing.

People who have alternative characters should be drawn and quartered.

I start alt chars, then go back to my main cause he's actually Trans a skill.

I usually tend to forget the names of whatever alt characters I make. I swear, I've made about 4 alts by now and I never remember any of their names for more than a day. pound.gif

Yeah, that's what I do. It feels so sucky only having like...capable everything when my main has trans planar, moon, wicca, fabled healing, etc. etc..

No hanging/drawing/quartering unless they're being irresponsible! *peer*

Somehow, I haven't been able to get into the alt trend on Lusternia - I've way too much to do as Lyren, I'm nowhere close to being bored yet. Still, even in other games, I have trouble paying attention to more than one persona at a time.

I agree with Shiri. If people are careful about keeping IC with their alts and not "metagaming" (isn't that the term?), then I don't see a problem with it. I have had a couple alts that only made it to the novicehood stage, because I wanted to see what people playing Magnagoran or Seren characters would experience. I only have one serious alt, and I'm careful about the exchange of information.

In response to the above post by Lyren:
That's exactly the problem I have. If I try to play more than one character, I end up getting more involved with one than the other, and it's too much of a strain to play both.

Also, I don't think alts are a big deal if, like I said earlier, you don't metagame and be careful (or responsible, as Shiri said). Sometimes, alts are a better choice than continuing, especially if you're bored of your character or if your character is essentially screwed.

I had this problem frequently in Achaea. What happens is you become temporarily bored with your main, create an alt in a guild (generally because you're fascinated by either a skill, a skillset, a person, or some other aspect of the new guild) and play them until either 1) you pass novicehood and it gets boring, 2) your apprentice tasks get boring, 3) whatever the fun new skill is gets boring, or 4) you just never stop, and your main is forgotten!

I think successfully balancing your time between two (or even more) characters is something ridiculously hard to accomplish. More than likely one will become a "when i'm bored" character, or simply vanish altogether after a few weeks.

I've actually be lying all this time... I have 5 charachters and I play them all one after the other. 8am - 2pm Daganev on Lusternia 2pm - 6pm Srilanka 6pm to 12am Daganev on Imperian 12am - 3 am Daganev on Aetolia, 3am to 8am Dagnaev on Achea... And repeat....

I have a Homer chair, so eating and sleeping and bathrooming are not issues.

I would have an alt if I had been clever enough to create five of them during open beta, then each would have 75 credits. Pwn.

I find that this environment is much more conducive to alt-ness than the other games, I'll say, because you don't have to put a retarded amount of effort in to get your third skillset.
