I keep wondering if there is any soon changes for highmagic, there is a number of skills in it that are useless. any ideas for new highmagic skills?

I think that, as with lowmagic, as more skills appear the broad abilities in both high and low magic will be expanded upon.

E.g., Kether, Blue Chakra.

Chockmah= Useless, doesn't work on any ghost I have seen

Kether=Useless, no one dream bodies

Geburah= Useless, because it increases one strength which doesn't help mages or guardians

Gedulah = Useless, because its a waste of power to heal a few afflictions and alot of mana

Kether + Chockmah - Dreamstates, incorporeality, etc. are most likely on the way.
Geburah - FAR from useless, knights can learn highmagic too, you know.
Gedulah - highly subjective.

Also keep in mind highmagic increases the potency of certain skills.

I never said highmagic in general was useless just the skills and Knights can't learn highmagic only low magic

I don't know how useful the upper abilities of highmagic are. But I love Yesod, Hexagram, and Geburah so far since most archetypes don't have ways to bring down flyers and Geburah lasts for an hour long.

I'd like to know how Malicia uses Yesod, then. And I was explaining how those skills aren't as useless as you think.
(Except Chockmah and Kether. But the fact that they are next to utterly useless, as is blue chakra, and reference currently nonexistant abilities, indicates that sometime in the future they will be validated, and thus pre-empting their improvements would be futile.)

Ur'guard, Paladins and Serenguard can only learn Low Magic. I agree that Yesod, Malkuth, Great Pentagram, Pentagram, Hexagram and Void are useful but I don't like the bottom ones because I have found them useless when I use them

Perhaps that has more to do with your misusing them, then. Apart from things like Kether, which as is implied will likely be improved.

And your statement that Ur'guard, Paladins, and Serenguard can only learn Low Magic is -wrong-. The Serenguard champion uses high magic, so that's a pretty good indication that it can be done.

Yep. Knight Archetypes can chose highmagic, hence the str boost is very useful indeed. I chose low magic, myself, but each to their own.
Unknown2005-01-04 19:03:37
I tested all the skills, asked a serenwilde to go hidden Couldn't seen him. asked a mag to go ghost. Chockmah didn't work on both. I used Gebulah which guardians and mages don't need because their more magicaly and the other one is a waste of power because it only heals a few afflictions but the cost is more then the healing

edit: well, take the strength one at then tongue.gif

I orginally had lowmagic... I'm an ur'guard.. I traded in lowmagic for highmagic because of Yesod alone. the +1 str for a tae'dae is nice, although I wish it didn't cost power. +2 str from flex for no power cost...
I stopped learning after Geburah (the +1 str one) because the rest do seem silly. But I think that has to do with certain skills not existing yet more than anything else.
why is netzach free in power usage but Geburah isn't?
Shiri2005-01-04 21:23:23
'cause charisma is a lot more situational than strength, since it's useful less in combat. (I do agree Geburah's cost needs a little tweaking though, or flex's does, since it's only warriors that use strength to any reasonable degree anyway.)
Terenas2005-01-04 21:59:39
But Geburah lasts for an hour long, while Netzach is only half I think. 3 powers for an hour of +1 strength doesn't seem like a bad trade at all.
Daganev2005-01-05 02:18:55
Netzach and Geburah always fade on me at the same time... And you all underestimate high charisma... Influencers unite!

If Geburah lasted untill I died or logged out, I could understand the 3 power.
Unknown2005-01-05 10:11:35
Its just to make it in line with Yellow, 3 power for 1 con. Its a pain, but it would be insane if it didnt cost power.
Val2005-01-05 13:42:04
Umm...I love the affliction healing.....your crazy
Unknown2005-01-05 14:21:59
so do I, but Its just a waste of power and mana on what it can cure
Hazar2005-01-05 17:53:26
I believe it was Auseklis who said Charisma affects it's dependant skills less then other statistics, though it might have been another god.
Daganev2005-01-05 19:32:06
Yes, Roark said that a difference in strength affects Attacking more than Charisma affects debating, but ITs still really fun to have 17 charisma and 22 str and 19 con.

Yellow in Lowmagic appears to last a lot longer than Geburah.. I used yellow all the time. Also, +1 con is a lot more powerfull than +1 Str. BUt still, with so many basic skills that increase stats by one... it seems odd that some cost power and some don't.
